China and Russia will support anything anti-America. China and Russia know the potential danger of having Taliban lead Afghan, but in politics it's actually a permanent interest that is of importance. The US didn't manage well the Afghan war, it's okay to be back home with their troops. Afghan may turn against one if no proper mentoring by the Chinese. Prepare for the return of Jesus.

I think they did to an extent. But the Talibans could be likened to geurilla fighters as they always retreated across border into Pakistan. This made it more difficult for the US to have defeated them. Also, collusion of the Afghanistan's military and alleged support from Pakistan must have helped them greatly.

To be frank, the ousted president Ghani contributed immensely to the folly of his administration. He became the president and then concentrated power and wealth without minding the sufferings of the people. He also failed to integrate oppositions under his leadership. This saw him fall out with the people and top officials. Infact, his overthrowing and Afghanistan's devolvment would have been prevented if he had conceded defeat in the 2019 presidential election, which he was believed to have rigged (50.46% or so). This could be regarded as a repercussion because a majority of Afghanis were celebrating his ousting yesterday.
