Everyone has their different needs. It's just like saying only bad people visit a night club, there are good people that just patronise a night club just for fun and relief stress.

So, tinted glasses are not for criminals.

E tire person ohh, e say y use tinted glass when one isn’t a criminal

Privacy is a priority for some of us so we tint the glass cos people can look ohh

omo no be small thin ooo..

but pls sir, not that I own a car oo..my question is, if a car is tint factory fitted, must there be a legal paper backing it before one can drive around the car

Normally, a factory tinted car should not need any permit at all, but in 2013, a bill was passed that mandated every tinted vehicle to get a permit within 90 days of buying the car if it is factory fitted or change the glass to transparent one within 14 days of buying the car. I cant remember what the fine is, but it should be about 6 months imprisonment if found guilty. Generally, you know Nigerian police would want to extort someone at any given opportunity, they are not after enforcing that law but after extorting people.

Normally, if it is illegal to drive factory tinted car without permit, those cars should either not be cleared to come into the country or issued permit at the point of entrance but Nigeria does not work normally.

When you check well, it is only police that check tinted permit but road traffic regulations should be the exclusive duty of FRSC as their ACT stated, and then the VIO to inspect vehicles. The police should not even be checking particulars of a vehicle at all, but this is Nigeria, everybody especially security outfits seek for a means to extort their fellow poor masses.

There is no such thing as a 320 AMG.

320 literally means you have a inline 6 cylinder engine

It's not an AMG.

You need a medical report for tinted permit unless you are a "VIP", even though police in Abuja won't ask you for that report, but once you step into the East... Hahahahahhaha.... Dem go extort you tire without medical report.

Is tinted permit renewed especially where you buy a Nigerian used car with tinted permit?

During change of ownership, it's the permit transferred to the new owner or will he start afresh as in new car?
It cannot be transferred.

Funny enough i have driven the car in Enugu, Awka, Ekwulobia, Uga and Nkpor and none of the police mentioned medical but they demanded for a tinted permit which i didn't have either but i gave them 3000 naira bribe, what i had was an application details for the permit they gave that to me and said to use it temporarily until the real one comes out.

You are correct, they extorted me badly but not for medical but for just the tinted permit

Well said.
It's not the police job to check any vehicle roadworthiness...that's why you have Road Safety officers.

Once you have the permit, they will start asking you for the medical report attached to it just to find a means to milk you. grin grin grin grin grin their aim is just to collect money.
Presently in the east they do ask for it, but I have never been asked such in anywhere in north.

Simple story is that, if you want to avoid too much English from you and police, just show them medical reports. This is avoid you with a lot of stress. Because according to the Nigeria law only politicians, pastors, general VIP can use Tinted permits, but if you have a medical report, you can be exempted

In some states the statement was taken as usually (one of those meaningless order from Abuja), no body border to check glass, what they are concerned about is just the normal eguje.
Orders from Abuja are now selectively obeyed these days. Hunger and problems too much these days

Yeah, I remembered my neighbor who did his own... During the day I can't enter the car because of how hot the inside is. We on the car, turn on ac for 10mins before going in. And this is not even a very hot day and then he covered his license plates too. I don't know why they like to abuse stuff

LMAO, do you hear yourself?
So you’re trying to make us understand that tinted windows make cars hotter?

It actually does depending on who did it.
On a factory tint , the glass itself is reflective and the heat and radiation is reflected by the OUTER surface. On cheaper systems though, the reflective surface is added to the inside of the glass. This means that the heat and radiation passes through the glass TWICE and the infra red heats up the interior while the UV light is reflected back out again. Tint added to the inside of the glass is mainly for cosmetics!

I was intercepted by the men in Black this morning opposite abesan estate gate, few meters away to AP filling station. The officer stopped me and requested i opened my boot, I did and came out to open for him...he further requested for my driver's license and car documents, I presented to him. He requested for my tint permit I presented to him...he was dumbfounded. He said ehhnn where's your medical report for the tint permit..I was like I don't understand. Boom! Oga asked his boy to take me to station. They were done for the day..all the police men followed me to area P command few meters away from the round about.
They asked me to park at the back inside the command, and took me to one office..I was even trying to see if like 2k can allow me go because I was in a hurry before taking me to the station, but the officer did not want to hear my plea.

On getting to the station, they gave me a form to fill and instructed I write a statement that I am medically fit and I did not have a medical report yet I have a tint permit. I said no I won't write any report, they seized my car key at this point.
So I was thinking, I needed to go pick my daughter from school at 12:30pm..why all this delay. So I put a call through to a top commissioner in Abuja because I was helpless at this point..and I explained my ordeal that the only documents out of my possession is my medical report and he asked me to give the phone to any officer at sight...which I did and immediately he introduced himself the officer stood up..took the phone to the boss and he also stood and boom my car documents and key was handed to me.. I checked to be sure the documents was complete.

This happened few minutes ago, even when I have this contact to call I was still willing to part with at least 2k but they won't want to listen to me..this is my experience.

PS: my car tint is not factory fitted.
