First time posting on this thread. IRCC is toying with Nigerians. This study permit that takes months to process in Nigeria, took me 20 days.

Applied on the 20th of July and got ppr on the 11th of August. Just normal application.

Also, the list of documents they make people provide is absolutely ridiculous. ( I don’t know if they are the ones who actually request for most of them sha o, cos me no know wetin land document and personal assets dey do inside visa application. What the hell do they need ones birth certificate, Waec result, Nysc certificate and all the gbogboe for?)

When I submitted my application, I gave them just what they requested. I didn’t even have a letter of intent. I only sent a letter of intent via web form after I kept seeing people posting about it in online forums. The LOI never got uploaded to my profile.

Abeg IRCC, is just Orishirishi! Also, is it possible we are overdoing it with the excessive provision of supporting documents?

P.S I didn’t need a medical exam, and I already had my biometrics from a previous TRV application.
No mind Nigerians. Na Nigerians start all this land documents and stuff. Them no request am, them no need am. Some people even do the bare minimum and still get the visa. We go overboard sometimes because we fear rejection. And other times, somebody will come with some unverified news and then everybody will follow follow. In a country where if you take the wrong step, they can axe you immediately (Go back home and bring your certificate!), you can expect things like this to keep happening.

Please and please i need help
I applied for a study permit since May 15, 2021, Did biometrics May 26, 2021, they said I don’t need a medical( is that possible?). I’m meant to resume school September 12th and ICC haven’t gotten back to me and I’m getting worried . I’ve written an email to them but no response from there. They were meant to get to me around August 15 according to the processing times on their website. Please what can i do?

Lekiboboe:

Hi,

Your study visa application can't be finalized without Medicals, you ought to have done your Upfront Medicals since that June or July to expedite your study visa application.

Your resumption for SEPTEMBER 7 is damn slim, cos before they pass your Medicals, and approve your study visa (hopefully by God's grace), it would take some time, and after you get your Study Visa Approved, you would now have to submit your passport to VFS for Stamping, that would take another time before you get it back.

They would likely be a Potential deferment from your end with this development.

Regards

It seems IRCC are changing the game, there have been like 2 applications whose timeline reveal approvals without medical request.

It is in my opinion rare as many of such have not been seen, seeing it is not like their normal way of giving approval, as without medicals decision might not be reached

But if I’ve done my medicals, where do I submit to?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by makano: 1:37am On Aug 25, 2021
Hello Tem

Your application is still going through background check.. You will definitely do your medicals, once its time for them to ask for your medicals, then your medical status will change..

I will advise you book for an Upfront medical (this is something you should have done months ago though) once you have upfront medical. make sure you upload the medical slip that will be given to you in the clinic via webform and email to IRCC, in a couple of days, your medical will be updated to pass....

I will also advise you defer to the next available date of intake, IRCC will request for a new LOA once your application is on the route of approval...

PEACE

What’s LOA?

Letter of Acceptance. It the letter of admission from the school you applied to? Can you get to page 1 of this part or go into previous parts to familiarize yourself with some terms and how the process works.

Afterwards, you can post your questions for any clarification or advice.

If the statement is showing transactions from 4-6 months with the required POF, you can.

IELTS is not required to get admission to most schools in CA.

However I will strongly advise and recommend that you got the NSE (Nigerian Student Express) route which needs these 3 requirements
1. IELTS
2. Mybankstatement (Electronic bank statement)
3. Upfront medicals.

Good evening everyone here. A very big shout out to the gurus that has been helping and providing answers to people's questions here, God bless you all.

I just joined Nairaland weeks ago and this is my first post.
I want to start the process of applying for school(s) in Canada. The school I want to apply for doesn't require me to have an IELTS. My question is, will IELTS be requided during the visa application process?

I will strongly advise you get an upfront medical done. Thread 18 and 19 has enough data to prove that an upfront medical speeds up you application processing time. Hope this helped.

Congrats.

I am February applicant, I await my PPR. I tap into your grace.
Chipo14:
Thanks everyone for your insight. I may have gotten back into the September stream as it seems they are considering the passionate appeal I sent earlier today. I await their final decision. Below is my timeline;

Application submitted - February 19
NSE request - February 25
Responded March 5
NSE ack - March 10. (I had everything for NSE except mybankstatement cos as at the time I wasn't aware first bank had it.)
Upfront medical updated - July 5
First GCMS - July 21 pre-assessment note said I didn't provide business documents for my sponsor (spouse) source of income. Recommend interview.
BVL - August 23
PPR - August 24

I came across this thread when I was getting frustrated with the wait. While I got to learn a lot from here it also made me start to doubt my decision about my application. I got two admissions one for PGD and the other for PGC. I choose to go for the PGC in applied business analysis. I have 14yrs experience in financial services marketing with a just concluded MBA in January 2021. I stated this in my 1.5page SOP. I attached my MBA admission letter and the results that were out as at the time which I later realized would have worked against me. I didn't pay much attention to the application as I was confident on my POF, personal asset and family ties (spouse and kids) will get me thru. Nairaland really opened my eyes and sometimes I get panic attacks when I visit here.

During the waiting period I wrote the MP and didn't get a response nor acknowledgement. I also couldn't send the business documents the junior VO couldn't see even though it was there initially. I sent several webforms some I got acknowledged other were ignored. About 2 weeks ago I ordered my second GCMS note and tried sending additional documents via webform and I was successful. I didn't know if the additional documents made a difference or not but I guess my pending gcms notes will tell.

P.S. I was refused Canada visit visa twice in 2018

Lekiboboe:

Canadian Universities and Colleges (DLI) don't require IELTS from Nigerian Applicants cos they know Nigeria is an English Speaking Country, the IELTS in admission requirements of Canadian Universities and Colleges (DLI) are for Non-English speaking countries e.g Vietnam, Indian , Philippine etc.

There are two types of STUDY VISA APPLICATION for Nigerian Applicants
- Normal Route
- The NSE route

The NSE route requires IELTS while the Normal Route don't require IELTS. So the choice is yours on the route you want your application to be processed with by IRCC.

Go to the first page (page 1) of this thread to read about the NSE route

God bless you richly. Anything wey you dey find, God go do am for you.
