I'll agree with you on the part where you have to have something to offer. Buh how do you know one has something to offer in a relationship? Or, you talking about offer you mean showing equal affection you show towards your partner? Or is it monetary terms, material things, or even attention?

Offers might be interns of
Money
Connection
Safety
Companionship etc
I'm sure u wouldn't want to date an urgly girl
That one self na part of the offers

Trust. Well it's really hard to trust these days. Considering the fact that our generation have been fed with all sort of poison
,...Yeah, it's really hard to trust today,.. that's why love is scarce today.

I like this your perspective. The God kind of love.
Enlighten us about this kind of love
It is the best kind of love that I've experienced. I was rescued from damnation because of this sweet love, and today I'm living in this love. No turning back.

A lot of Folks have been damaged by love. So, is love still a beautiful thing or a tragedy?

Red pillars would strongly disagree with this. grin

Love doesn't damage people. It nurtures

The problem is people mistake trauma bonding and infatuation for love. They're not the same

Genuine love is patient, kind, understanding, nurturing, giving without expectations, forgiving -- with healthy boundaries though. Being a push over or getting taken advantage of is not love. No one should tolerate that any form of abuse or mistreatment in the name of love

In my opinion. Love is a dual carriage way of fortn and back, go and come, give and take. Just like the symbiotic association in Biology.

You have a point there. True love cannot fully be expressed without action.

I beg to disagree.
Love is not selfish. In fact, love should be mutual; it should not be one sided like you stated.

Perfect answer!
But, let's take a look at it from this dimension; what about someone who has been betrayed by someone they truly love?

Give and take? Kindly explain.

To your question.
This is a very tricky question and it's a hard tack. But I'll try and explain succinctly.
A wise man once said and I quote; "Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered."

Which means even our minds can play tricks with us.
This is what I'm trying to say.
Man can never be trusted.

Why? Because we are humans! We have tons of flaws.
This doesn't mean you should be stereotyped and turn a blind to people, or isolate yourself from people. No! Be logical with things you entrust to people but do not rely on them.

Have it in mind that disappointment Occurs with humans.I'm going somewhere, stay with me.

So, Generally, people are forgiving of breaches of competence and will consider situational factors and know incompetence can be temporary.

I believe that people who are competent can sometimes act incompetently because of situational factors outside their control.

But even when external factors are not to blame, people understand that competence can be improved; people can get better and develop from their experiences.

It all comes down to how the response is handled.

You shouldn’t blame other factors entirely, instead, the response should do the following:

Acknowledge the failure
Take responsibility
Show what has been learned.

So, yes. A lost trust can be rebuilt. But, it will take an extra mile to be proven.

Of course there are! If a lady go after material things or riches. It won't last. There would be times when these things won't count.

I absolutely understand you. Thank you.

When I say love is about giving and taking, I simply mean it should never be one sided. Whatever is given in sacrifice must be reciprocated. It may not exactly be commensurate but little kind gestures go a long way.

I hope you understand now.

But, let's take a look at it from this dimension; what about someone who has been betrayed by someone they truly love?

Interesting question. Had to think hard to answer

First of all, when we genuinely love someone, their pain is our pain, so we try out best not to hurt them. If we do hurt them, we apologise and never do it again

But, like in your example, people can love someone who doesn't love them and in that case, it is possible to get betrayed. But, the hurts start small and get bigger with time

This is why it is important to love ourselves first so that we can establish healthy boundaries and avoid people who don't genuinely love us

Unfortunately, many people don't love themselves and look for someone to love them. This is why they end up tolerating people who don't love them back and who hurt them instead. They become obsessed and addicted

So many people confuse addiction with love. They use their lover as means to escape from themselves

I was a victim of this but not anymore. I really love myself now and it's very easy to cut off toxic people. I don't "need" anyone to love me anymore. But I'm definitely open to sharing my life with someone who's fulfilled on their own. I avoid people who say that they need me or that they can't live without me or that I'm their everything at all cost! Very toxic way of thinking but it's celebrated so often

Ya, that's what I said. Unfortunately, people mistake trauma bonding (aka addiction) with love when they get abused and mistreated
