There was someone one time who got a new employment through a recruitment agency and needed a lawyer as Guarantor. His mom is a neighbour to my mom and so, I obliged him.
Subsequently, he was employed.
A few years later I got a call from his workplace that he had absconded and he was paid his salary a month after he resigned. I told them to deduct it from the salary of the accounting officer who paid him but they said I had to either produce him or pay it on his behalf. When I called him, he told me that there were several deductions from his salary and they couldn't justify it.
Next thing, the company called the Police and those ones invited me to the station.

Just as the subject above..
Ever help someone and you end-up landing into trouble?...

Mine is : On 12/2/2005 i will never forget the date. I was just strolling down the street just to keep fit. Coming toward me was a boy of lemme just say 18years. He kept looking left and right. Then it obvious to me that something is missing. He approach me and said " brother please do you help me see any 5 thousand notes please, i lost it just now on this road.".. I said "No" .. He started crying saying i should please give him... To say the truth. 'i don't see any money'....

To cut the long story short... I ended up paying 37 thousand just because out of pity i gave the boy 3 thousand to find the rest... He insisted am the one who took the money... He went and report to his father who is a politician.... I ended up in police custody....

Share your experience

I don't know why, but I find this your story very funny grin grin grin

We must be very careful with who we render help. I went to the UK and met a nephew I have never seen for 20 years. He gave me a very good hospitality and housed me when I was in London. He requested I help him supervised his building in Nigeria but I told him I couldn't because his property and where I lived are far apart. However I introduced a long time friend and his sister to supervised the project. After 6 months, his mum called me that the money spent on the project was not up to the 3m that the guy gave for foundation of a duplex and two bedroom boys quarter even forgetting that the guy spent some other money on his personal issues. His mum is my paternal sister and she ended up saying she set up trap for me. I asked her how much she thinks wss the difference; (believe you me, all what was spent were documented and were okay) in order to make peace reign and never to allow money bring issues cum the said trap she said, I paid 1.3m back to them. Hence I was the one the introduced the engineer. I took responsibility of the loss because Africa magic ehhnn.

Sometime, the people you think are there to give you a deal are out to ruin you and set you up. We need God's leading and direction to overcome these traps.

Mine happened late last year, I am still finding it difficult to believe that it could happen. It was Sunday evening, I was heading out when I saw a pastor with a white-collar, his wife and a man who later appears to be a roadside mechanic trying to fix his car. When coming back from my outing about two hours later, I still met them there confused and stranded, I approached the pastor if I can be of help and the mechanic rapidly replied me NO that I should go, truly I left for my house only for the pastor to trace my house some hours later asking if i come across his car key? No way! I didn't see and car key and perhaps your mechanic asked me to leave and I left without touching your car. I thought that was the end of the story, till next day evening after arrivimg from work, knocking at my door where two policemen and the pastor, came to arrest me.

I will be back...

Many stories to tell. But this is very pathetic.

Back then in school, I was a great help to my guy during exams. He copied everything from me. While writing French exam, we were asked, 'Comment tu t'appelle.' I answered, 'Je m'appelle... my name.' I didn't check to see what my guy wrote. I was shocked and embarrassed, when our teacher brought our answer sheets to class to show everybody. He didn't change anything. He wrote 'Je m'appelle, my name' as I wrote. I was penalized for aiding exams malpractice.

My younger brother was arrested with other workers. On getting to the station, it was found out one of them had a criminal case before. During interrogation, my brother kept saying we didn't do it, DPO told him to defend himself and stop using "we didn't"

Even the pastor that arrested them called my Uncle and told him to tell my brother to say he didn't do it and he would be released.

My brother refused because they are friends and grew up together. Las Las, the idiot boy (the ọne that had a criminal case) said they did it but his own elder brother wasn't among.

8 of them landed in Ikoyi maximum prison and stayed for like 2 years.

2 weeks to my wedding, I was introduced to a guy who made nice furniture here in Lagos while I was based in Ibadan, I called the guy, we negotiate the work and he promised to get the whole work transported to me within a week. So I transferred #50k to his account and up till now, I have not seen anything delivered to me. The guy stopped picking my calls and also blocked me on his media platforms.
Since then, I zero my mind to any online transactions or with anyone that I don't know personally.
Mind you, I came to Lagos with my sister who introduced him to me, only for us to be told by his neighbors that he has relocated from Lagos. We also went to the police station around his shop and we were told at the station that we are the 7th person that is reporting such case about the same person.

Yes, I went to the department) that fateful day with a coursemate of mine, I had gone out and gone in and I remember that apart from my me and my course mate, there was just one other person in the library.
I and my friend went to one of the seats and I found that someone had left their phone there and knowing that things had been getting missing lately, I didn't want to risk not picking up the phone and then having to hear the phone later got stolen.
I showed it to my friend and said "babe, this person left their phone here, I'll keep it until someone is able to give evidence of ownership before giving the" Thank goodness I showed it to my friend o, the owner who happened to either be a fresher or in 200 level (can't remember), came in and asked of the phone, I showed it to her and told her to be more careful. She collected the phone and left only to go on the German unit WhatsApp group ( my department has subunits according to the language being studied by individual so we've got different WhatsApp groups for each language from 100-400 level, WhatsApp group for finalists, general WhatsApp group, WhatsApp group for each level, WhatsApp group for each unit and their levels etc, can't really explain) so, my course mates in German units then started to message my unit course mates because I wasn't on any of the WhatsApp groups, my course mates who were in same hall as me (Queen Elizabeth II Hall ) then told me about it. I got furious because I had done this girl a favour and she went ahead to lie, my level mates, course mates, unit mates and people who had known me for long (both the ones who had graduated and the ones in 300 level) vouched for me, if not that fighting isn't allowed in UI, I'm certain that girl would have been dealt with. The girl (my course mate and hall mate) who was with me the day I found that phone verified that she was with me and that I had showed her the phone.
People told her that I had a good reputation in my hall, faculty, unit, and department as a whole. It had never been reported that I took what didn't belong to me and that she had come from nowhere trying to soil my image over a phone that wasn't even worth 20k.
She became ashamed, was asked to apologize (she apologized taya) and even wrote and apology note that was pasted on our notice board.
She sent me a message to apologize as well and I had it till early this year.
That girl almost did character assassination on me but God no gree.

Sometimes ago, there was some kids in our neighborhood, they always visit whenever I came home for weekend. I only go home weekends due to my job and I don't give kids food or eatable stuff to avoid parents or enemies getting a way to me being accused of poisoning a child so I always give cash so they can sort their selves.
One day I just heard a knocked on my door, a father came to warm me never to give his kids money again. I was so embarrassed I said okay.
Ever since, I don't buy or give kids a thing.
