Jonesdozi:
One red flag here is you're going to a Masters in computer science, but your current employment is not related to it. So why are you going for such MSc? Secondly In stead of saying your dad distribute stock fish, you make it more appealing. The VO might not know what stock fish. Let me know if you need additional help preparing for your next appointment.

I need help for mine please

Transcript:
VO: I can see you are going for your LL.M in University Of Miami.
Me: yes
Vo: what will you be doing after ?
Me: I will be coming back to occupy the position of senior associate while
I will be implementing the knowledge I have acquired with my expectation from Law firm to impact the knowledge in the junior associate in my employer’s law firm.

Vo: when did you start working
Me: for 3 years

VO: what do you as a Lawyer
Ans: I actively practice as lawyer specializing in entertainment, art and sport law.
(The area of law is a segment of Intellectual property law(IPL) which is what is stated in my office website.

Vo: your law firm is in Vi ??
Ans: yes

Vo: how many staffs do you have?
Ans: 30
(Meanwhile I checked my law firm’s website and discovered that it was 10 lawyers that was stated in the website)

Vo: will your office pay for your trips( this question, I wasn’t sure of what she asked my head told me it was about salary and said yes my office will pay my salary by 20%) my ds-160 clearly stated that my law firm will not pay for mg Trip.

VO: what year did you start working with the law firm ?
Ans: 2019 but I have had my internship program with the law firm before 2019

Vo: you won’t be given visa this time you can try again.

Now another problem I realized that there was an error on my appointment page for interview which is okay that my confirmation number on the appointment page is different from what I have in my DS-160, what was reflecting on my appointment page for my interview was b2 ds-160 confirmation number which I used in applying in 2019 for a family event in USA with my siblings and was denied. On my confirmation for interview it was this DS-160 old number that was on it which I discovered yesterday night. (The reason there was a mixed up was because I transferred my email account on the CGI three times becos I didn’t get a response when I made the application via email and later sorted for website application which was granted later via mail which approved it back to a different mail then I called the call center and it was permanently sorted out)

However, upon my denial I paid for a new MRV and I checked my profile update I was surprised to see my old b2/b1 visa confirmation reflecting Ds-160 number on my cgi profile instead of my Ds-160 for F-1 visa.

The questions are:
1. where did I go wrong in my interview?
2. What impact would the error on my CGI make?? Perhaps it didn’t show my required information.
3. Upon my new application should I pick Lagos or Abuja considering my circumstance ?

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Wroyal: 9:23pm On Aug 30, 2021
Good evening all. I’m gradually recovering from the discouragement that comes from getting a denial.

Please see transcript below

Date: 19th August, 2021
Time: 11:00am
Location: Lagos
Funding: Zero

Brief background - I’m a graduate of accounting, and I’ve also worked within the Healthcare space)

VO: please pass your passport and I-20
Me: passed it (Good morning)

VO: I see you’re going to Texas A&M, how many schools did you apply to and why Texas A&M?
Me: I applied to 3 schools (mentioned them). I choose Texas A&M for several reasons:
- A senior colleague at work is a graduate of Texas A&M university and is doing very well in the position she heads. My sister is also a graduate of the school and is currently working in Canada (needed to mention that my sister had left the US because my first denial was for attending her graduation in 2019)
- The school also offers a minor I’m interested in (Economics of Health care in the US) which I can take within my 2 year stay without having to extend my duration in the US. I’d be studying Business Analytics.

Over the past 5 years, I’ve majorly worked in the Cancer space and have been able to identify the huge gap is data/ information and turning this into possible solutions for better healthcare in Nigeria. This made my decision to further my education easier as I have identified a gap that I am willing to address. Also my background in finance/ accounting (which involves preparing and analyzing financial data),aids my desire to have an MBA in data science and data science is actually The future. Business analytics is an hybrid between science and business.
Converting medical data into useful information

VO: Kept typing without looking at me. I honestly got confused because there was an awkward silence.

VO: Who would be sponsoring you?
Me: My uncle, he’s a consultant at a teaching hospital and also consults and is on the board of several hospitals in Lagos.

VO: What’s his average monthly pay?
Me: about 5-8million monthly

VO: types for a short while and handed the blue paper. And said I didn’t qualify for the visa.

She made a face when I spoke about my reason for the school. She probably wasn’t convinced.
I’ve heard people say my “Uncle” being my sponsor was a red flag. But I’ve read transcript of people who got their Visa approved even with their uncle/ 3rd party as a sponsor.

I want to reapply (for Spring 2022) but I’m not sure if using my uncle will be a disadvantage again. I don’t have any other sponsor and don’t think it’ would look genuine for him to deposit the money in my account for an interview I’d most likely be having soon (before the year runs out).

This is my seeking help/assistance on how to go about this in reapply.

Thank you in anticipation of your response.

Regards

So many “wrongs” in this transcript. You were close to getting this visa, why did you blow it?

Why say your law area is entertainment when you could have said intellectual property law.

She checked online to confirm this Law Firm only has 10 employees. Why did you say 30 employees, when the website says 10?

Regards

Sponsor’s average monthly income 8 million? I guess she didn’t believe this. Sponsor works for a government hospital and they are on strike for lack of salary.

That “ why you chose this school” is a bit lengthy and tiring. Be concise and drive home your point.

Please can someone help me check if this transcripts worths being accepted?

I'll be going in soon.

Below is my Transcript:

Me: Good morning officer , how are you doing today?

Vo: Good morning

vo: How old is your son

me: 4 years

Vo: i can see you are going for MBA

Me: Yes, concentration in managerial communications

Vo: what will this course do for you ?

Me: This course will equip me with the leadership strategies and business skills that i need to incorporate in my women and youth based content programmes. Over the years I realised that 90% of our contents on media about women and youth lack leadership empowerment and business strategies, introducing this skills I have acquired will make our women in Nigeria take leadership roles in the political, academic or communal space they find themselves and help our youths to scale up in their small medium enterprise.

Vo: what do you do in Nigeria

Me: I work as a senior radio producer at one of the federal radio stations in Nigeria.

Vo: why Arizona State University

Me: because, the school is the best in innovation as ranked by US news, innovation which is the bedrock of creativity and content creation is needed in my radio programmes on women empowerment and youth development.

Vo: have you traveled before ?

Me; sure, I have been to Ghana.

Vo: when was that ?

In 2015.
Vo:Who will be sponsoring your education?
Me: The school offered me full tuition fees and my husband will be taking care of the deficit

Vo: please sir can I talk to you?

Vo; what do you do?

Husband : I'm a lead database administrator

Vo: what will you be doing in US

Husband: I just want to help her in settling down, I'll be back to my job by the end of next month, I'll also be checking on them occasionally.

Positives:
-Full funding
-A senior radio producer at a government radio station
-related course of study

Negatives:
-No study leave from current employer
- No “major” travel history
- husband traveling with you.

Advice:
Restructure your answer to this question, “ what will this course do for you ?”

Start with, “as a senior producer at ....Bleep radio station, this course will.......”

Your aim is to drive home the fact that you are a senior producer at a government radio station.

Preparation:

Make sure your husband’s account balance will be able to cover the deficit. VO could request his account statement.

Congratulations!
who did you put as sponsor?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Favoredhighly: 3:35am On Aug 31, 2021
Yes I have a study leave letter from my current employer.
So what can I say about my husband travelling with me? Also my husband is sponsoring with the bulk of the deficit, and my dad is gifting me the rest. Can I mention that?
I have account statements for both.

Very true please help me out here
Have applied for since
Have been deferring cox of covid
And this year too cox of some post covid issue so now am scheduled for interview later this year for spring semester
I had my Bsc in computer science
After NYSc 2018
Going for masters in computer network and security...
What kind of profile do I need ..

I'm gonna give you a plain secret.

Your visa approval is gonna lie in how confidently, convincingly and eloquently you can explain to the VO what you have been doing since 2018, and why you suddenly decided that this is the time to go for a masters. What said masters will do for you, and how you are dying to return to Nigeria at the completion (to help improve this shithole) .

The VOs never expressly ask you these questions. They expect you to be able to speak about it at certain points during the interview. With practice, you should know when.

Upon reading various transcripts, I see people miss the opportunity to explain their red flags and it's a pity.

If you can articulate properly, you should have no problems. Of course, assuming you're admitted in a reasonably ranked school and have straightforward funding.

Hello everyone, I need your help with a situation. The person in question has a masters in the UK and returned to Nigeria. Then on trying to return to the UK for a Ph.D, he got a denial. The denial was on the ground of false bank documentation and issued a 10-year ban. Now, this time around, he has been admitted to a US school for a PhD, and have the right bank documentation. How would the UK refusal affect their US visa application? Would it affect this at all? Or would the VO consider this a fresh case?

Common sense states that the UK visa history shouldn't be an issue since there is no area on the DS160 to state prior rejections/bans at other countries or embassies.

However, the US and the UK are like siblings and may data-share. We don't know and nobody is sure except the DOS.
However, I think it's really unlikely.

You should apply and pursue your dreams. This time without fake documentation.

Hello house!

I’m planning to proceed with my Master’s degree in the US.

I’m just 23 years and I’d be the one sponsoring myself. I work as a freelancer and I’ve checked quite a couple of school and I can afford the fees.

Here’s the thing! How do I go about the convincing the VO that finance is not my problem. I have parents but I’m the one to sponsor myself.

For Job ties, I’m a remote freelancer and my clients are abroad (USA) and not in nigeria. I’ve been doing this since my undergraduate days hence I have about 3 years work experience.

For property, let’s say there’s a land with work in progress.

No direct relative in the USA

I need advice so as not to shoot my self. Thank y’all in advance.

The easiest way to prove you're financially ready to spnsor yourself is to have the funds for your period of study fixed in a bank account.

You'll be unable to 'freelance' at least legally while in the US, for more than 20hrs a week, considering your clients are also in the US. Plus now, your income while in the US must be reported and taxed.
So your work is not actually a strength for you in this case and you must be wary of that.
If you can afford to place the funds in your parents' accounts, do so. Simplifies matters.

Thank u so much is there a practicing platform?

Here's a personal tip:

Find the most cynical educated friend you have, imagine that friend as the VO. Practice the interview with them everyday, let them point out why your answers don't make sense to them, and refine your answers till you can convince that friend beyond a reasonable doubt to grant you a visa.

While preparing for my interview, my brother was the most cynical person I knew (apart from Twoods grin) and I practiced with him. He would make logical arguments about some of the things I was saying during my mock interviews and why they didn't necessarily make sense, and I would refine those. Once I could convince him, I was sure I could convince anyone.

That's what you need! You need killer answers for those issues I pointed out to you, and you should know when to provide those answers without being expressly asked.
Good luck!

I sent u a mail. Can u help me with how best to state what my sponsor does? And how can i modify my application to suit my current employment and establish a tie?

Bro... sorry for the late reply.

One question, is there any course that links statistics(your present profession) and computer science? And if you can get some or full funding from school, that will be great.

Look, VOs are just human. S/he is not all-knowing. You need to present to him or her information that s/he can understand and work with, within the allotted 2/3mins of interview.

(A) My sponsor has a company that sells stock fish

(B) My sponsor is a major importer and distributor of Norwegian Stockfish in Nigeria

Which one sounds better? Burnish the truth!
