Good evening everyone, i am new here, please i am stuck on what to do next, i just paid for sevis fee and it's been confirmed. Do i need to fill DS160 form first and pay to the bank or fill the CGI form first, please i need help i need to get an appointment, Also please can someone guide me on how to resize my passport to official U.S size. Thanks for all your replies, you guy's are the best lifesavers

It doesn't really matter. He can do either first. He can pay the visa fee, book an appointment and fill his ds form later. The important thing to know is that you must complete the form, submit it and put the form number on your cgi appointment page and you should do these before 72 hours to your interview

Hi everyone, I have a question please. I applied for my visa interview & got a date in November with my current passport. The passport isn’t expired yet but slightly damaged, my picture isn’t so clear anymore. I’m considering getting a new passport but I was wondering how do I update my current application which has already been confirmed with this old passport number to the new passport when I get it. Will I have to fill a brand new Ds 160, if so what happens to the already confirmed one or how do I go about this please. Would appreciate a response.

When you get the new passport, you will fill a new ds160 form, then update your CGI portal and put the new passport number and ds160 app number, then reprint your appointment letter.

Excuse me good sir, i'd really appreciate if you would expound more on this. How about graduating with outstanding grades does your institution tend to retain you?. Thank you.

This is the worst transcript I have ever seen be it on nairaland, Facebook or quora. It is better you delete the whole thing. Just leave visa approved.

BabsofAbj247:
Visa approved.

VO: What school are you going to?
Me: Stated the name of my school
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: Told him the schools I applied to
VO: What program are you going for?
Me: Stated my program (Masters)
VO: What do you intend to use the program for?
Me: Upon the completion of my program, I intend to come back to Nigeria to focus on at my company. In addition, I intend to use the knowledge obtained from my masters to improve my start-up.
VO: What do you do currently?
Me: Explained in detail the nature of my job and the companies I have worked with
VO: Wow
VO: How do you intend to fund the program, I can see you got some scholarship?
Me: I would be using my savings and MPOWER. In addition, my uncle would provide financial assistance.
VO: What does your uncle do:
Me: Told VO the companies my uncle own
VO: I would be approving your VISA blah blah blah

It is very important to know what you have on your DS-160 form. While I was talking about the things I do for my Company, the VO kept looking at the screen to verify what I said.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Pay and fill the ds-160 first (In any order). You would need the ds-160 confirmation number and the visa fee confirmation code to fill the cgi form.

Don't be discourage about that. Political Science is a good discipline with numerous opportunities out there, especially in the US. Good to know you're working towards graduate school, I will advise you finish with good grades, write GRE and Toefl if you have the means to do so.
Look for schools that offers your proposed Msc program and apply.
Not everybody will go for STEM programs, NON STEM programs are in-demand and marketable as well.
As a prospective graduate applicant, your biggest undoing is to go for a program that does not tally with your academics projection or simply because everybody are going for STEM programs and you want to join the train.
NON STEM program are also funded in the states, I knew of two guys from this thread that got admitted to political science at Texas Tech fully funded.
Do your diligence brother, I wish you the best.

Hey guys any insight on how to go about getting a GTA or funding??
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Have good grades, sit for GRE and Toefl. Ensure you have a good scores. Look for school that match your profile and endeavour to send a mail to the GC, make inquiries about admission requirements and funding opportunities especially for international students.
If your intending program is a research based, send cold email to a faculty member within your department, whose research interest closely align to what you intend to study.
