We pressed well yesterday though, making the newcastle players play more of long balls, it is our defending setup against counter attack I am worried about.
Our own defensive play is shaky due to having no decent DMF, so when teams do attack us (like Newcastle courageously did yesterday, to their credit) we can be shaky. Hopefully with most teams we will score enough to overcome our defensive problems, but it will be interesting to see how that will work out against the top teams.

I like him so much, no time for bullshit grin

Expert, you saw that Salah goal?

Salah tucking in with Trent providing the cross?

Why don’t we have full backs that can do that simple task? This is why our games are very stiff until a moment of individual brilliance comes from any of our players.

Doubt that.

And would you like to tell me how many games Veratti and Paredes missed through injury last season?

When you examine all available data, you’ll find out that Herrera is the one who sits on the bench when everyone is available.

Verratti 25 games and Parades 5 games

Nobody ever claimed DM was his primary role. This is how you people twist simple English into mental gymnastics.

I said Herrera is another player we could have used as DM this season and he’s better than any of the players we are currently playing there.

Then the brainless antelopes started ranting he never played as a DM for United.

Very!!!!

Easy with the curse words please. I am also with you on the DM role. Herrera as a DM, would have been better than the 3 things we currently have today. And yes, he played as a DM for us albeit not primarily.

Transfer rumors that linked us to Trippier during the transfer window, make sense now.

For now, we can start Dalot against low, -blocking teams. At LB, Telles and Shaw can cross so well.

I just read alot of comments about Ronaldo's first goal, and also the heavy blame on the goalkeeper for letting the ball slip from his hand which led to the goal.

Firstly, lets look into Greenwood's shooting technique and the goals he's scored from it. He's usually shoot low with power and accuracy.

When he (Mason) cut in and took that shot, the ball was flying low to the left side of the goal post, the goalkeeper saw this and moved a bit from his initial position to make the safe.

But unfortunately, the shot deflected the leg of a Newcastle defender forcing the ball to change direction and met the goalkeeper off balance.

Even though the goalkeeper tried to return to his initial position, his timing had been tampered with and hence the inability to catch the ball properly.

Ronaldo, like a smart striker that he his, had already read the ball even before Mason took the shot, then made a clever run for a possible rebound which indeed came and was well converted.

Ferguson had plenty of credits in the bank. His achievements at Aberdeen surpasses anything Pep/Mourinho have done in the modern era.

Ferguson’s Aberdeen broke the stronghold of the Old Firm in Scotland. He won 3 Scottish league titles, 5 domestic cups, beat Bayern and Real Madrid to win a European cup.

Ole cannot even outperform the previous manager with more or less the same team + £400m and he has no credits in the bank. There’s no evidence or any precedent that Ole is capable - it’s just vibes and insha allah.

But it was taking time to replicate in united.

This is Ole's best time to prove himself. Everything is here for him, even has the GOAT on his team.

The board shouldn't hesitate to boot him out if he fails this season

Against teams that are going to pack the middle because of the Ronaldo factor, AWB should be on the bench.

Fergie came 2nd in his first full season at United. I think 8-9 points below the champions(Liverpool).

The subsequent seasons were awful but you have to understand the level of shitty players Sir Alex inherited. The squad he inherited hadn’t won the league in 20 years.

I don't see anything special in AWB, he lost the ball, more than twice in dangerous position yesterday.

Lol. Nothing has changed. It’s a sensational headline/story, the new investor bought existing shares that are already trading in the market. No extra money in the Glazer’s pocket. Most times, company owners float a certain percentage of total shares in the market, which is ‘trade-able’. They get cash at the time of floating, whatever trades happen to the floated shares won’t impact them.

Also, the new investor can’t gain control at all because they only bought 5% of total utd shares, meanwhile total float is just about 10% of total utd shares. Even if they buy the 10% in the market, they need to buy more privately from the Glazers and other institutional investors before conversations about control can start popping up.
Interesting, thank you for your insight!

Against the big teams, AWB is excellent.

He’s probably the best 1-v-1 defender in Europe. I saw this dude put Sterling in his back pocket. Sterling couldn’t get a sniff around him and that Sterling had been destroying defenders until he faced AWB.

Being good on 1 V 1 defending is different from being a good defender though it is a very important aspect of defending other aspect such as concentration, positioning are as well important why defending.

The point is he’s better as a DM than what we currently have and that was why nitrogen brought his name up.

Herrera can pass, tackle, dribble, shoot, etc - plus he’s the master of shithousery. He knows how to frustrate opponents to death. He’s the master of dark arts.

He frustrated Gerrard so bad in one game at Anfield and Gerrard got a red card that allowed United to win the game without pressure.

Mind you, his brilliant assist got Mata the first goal before the red card. In the game against Chelsea where he shadowed Hazard for 90 minutes, he assisted the first goal and scored the 2nd. Chelsea had no shot on target that day.

Herrera is a monster!

Many of them couldn’t afford DSTV to watch live games when Herrera was at United.

They only started watching Herrera after Osinbajo launched MarketMoni/TraderMoni which afforded them the coins to subscribe.

"Some" of your takes here are always based on well research facts. I'm not gonna lie, you speak facts and you're consistent.

But what I don't enjoy about some of your takes are the insults.

I remember some guys saying you're coogar lol, whoever that is lol!!!

Listen man, you must not insult or start the name calling thing when people don't agree with your assertions.

Share your points without insulting, I know it's banter season. But banter should be football related, not personal!

Back to the matter on ground.

Is Herera a DM? The correct answer is No!!!

Has he played in the DM position for United? The correct answer is Yes!!!

Did he play well in the DM position? Yes!!!

Herrera didn't play enough games as a DM for United but he was always very on point when called upon in that position.

Stop the name calling man, doesn't make sense!!!

Even if the first goal was as a result of a goalie mistake, United forced that mistake. Had Greenwood shot off target, the goal wouldn’t have happened.

Ronaldo was the only player that made a move to follow up on that shot. Even the Magpies defenders all had a mannequin challenge. Ronaldo’s intelligence and instincts just smelt something could spill and he benefited from it.

If it was that easy, how come several United players didn’t make the run Ronaldo made? If he wasn’t on the pitch, United wouldn’t have scored from that passage of play.

Kudos to Ronaldo.

Herrera as a DM in this team and United would win every trophy available.

Herrera has an incredible engine in him and he can defend. I saw this dude shadow prime Hazard for 90 minutes.

Even at half time, Herrera was following Hazard to Chelsea’s dressing room. He’s a beast of a player.

The mere fact that I qualified the sentence with “As a DM” should have told anyone with brain cells that I never said his primary role was DM but he can play as one.

If I thought he was a primary DM, I wouldn’t use that qualifier “as a DM.” But this is Nairaland, where people read what they want to see and start arguing without brains.

He has improved his positioning. I remember he used to abandon the back post when defending a cross. I have not seen him do that this season.

Against teams where United are parking the bus or playing a low block, you won’t find any RB better than AWB in England. That’s his expertise.
