A Nigerian man identified as Opeyemi, has narrated how a Baptist church asked him to take off his earring while he was on a groomsman duty in the church.

According to Opeyemi, he left and waited for his friend who fully backed his decision at the wedding reception and there is a mixed reactions about his decision as many wondered why he could not just take them off for a few hours.

Opeyemi, narrating the encounter, he said that he was at a Baptist church in Lagos as one of the groomsmen for his friend’s wedding when he was asked to pull off his earrings, adding that he left the service immediately for the reception as he would never follow such dogma.

He, therefore, used the opportunity to lambaste Nigerians version of Christianity. When people told him that he ought to have honoured his friend and acted accordingly, he said his friend was in full support of him.

Do the right thing and save your self the drama. There are somethings one should apply common sense. If you are an employer and your worker dress anyhow to work won't you caution or even send him/ her home to change the dressing, every work place have rules, avoid the unnecessary drama and do the right thing.

The church i attend don't cover head, someone invited me to a church, I went not knowing they cover there head and it's a must, when the usher approached me and told me, and i wasn't with a head tie, I just used my handkerchief and covered my hair to avoid unnecessary drama, sometimes you just use your common sense.

RUBBISH. The Reverend was very Right to have Sent him Out...as that is What the Church of God Stands for. He is also Right to have apologised afterwards as a Human being to his fellow Man-Woman. We Should Respect Ourselves and Other's Sensibilities too...Does he expect the Church to Lower her Standards because of a Misguided and Effeminate Fellow?

The truth is that as civilized as America the president of that nation will never wear ear pendant. It's just disgusting.

What I dislike is that the dude wearing the earring does not know the origin . It started from the prison in America and It is meant to indicate that someone was effeminate and available.

I don't know why we get angry at things in order to assist God. If my way of life is not in line with your belief, you don't need to get angry or rain abusive words on me, except you are a Christian version of Bokoharam!!

If you ask me, the guy is very respectful and matured. Stepping out of the church was a matured thing to have done. Imagine all the distraction that would have caused at that moment when the center of attraction was solely meant for the bride and the groom.

Why not assign someone to talk to the guy necodemusly without drawing any attention if such is against the church's doctrine.

Please let's mind the way we treat spiritual matters. The heart and soul of the guy is more important to God than your filthy anger which is not even helping God.

Someone is already getting angry with this my epistle... No Wahala......

That's not the point, assuming you are in C and S church or Mosque won't you off your shoes.

The guy is just unruly that is all, I'm sure he will be regretting it, but the most childish thing he did is putting it on the internet.

………… Finally, no matter what their (men) reason for wearing earrings, the practice will be considered by some as a statement, to others as cool, attractive, spiritual, or simply a component of your job; the practice is trendy and very common in today’s western culture. To those who feel that this is not really a cultural tradition that should be perpetuated, there is an anonymous quote that goes thus ‘respect people’s feelings. Even if it does not seem to mean anything to you, it could mean everything to them’.
