• ‘All parties should pick their candidates from our zone’

By Egbo Grace - Abakaliki

On Oct 9, 2021

GOVERNORS of the South East zone on Friday asked all political parties in the country to pick their 2023 presidential candidates from the zone. Chairman, South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, while making the call asked political parties in the country not to scheme out the zone in the race.

According to him, the region has sacrificed a lot and must be allowed to produce the next President of the country whether zoning or not zoning.

Umahi made this known during a prayer summit organised by the state government at Ecumenical centre, Abakaliki.

He called for intergration of the zone in the affairs of the country. According to him, Nigeria must treat South East fairly and on equitable order.

He said: “We will continue to say as a father of the statement that we will not belong to Biafra, we will not.

“We will not go back to second slavery, we will not. We want to belong to Nigeria, we want to belong to fair play and equitable Nigeria.

“And let me state very clear, zoning or no zoning party or no party, south east must not be schemed out of the affairs of this nation, it must not be schemed out.

“What is good for other states, is good for south east, it doesn’t matter whom God enthrones. Let south east be properly intergrated in the affairs of this nation. We are nation builders, we should not be filt.

“We have investments in every part of this country and people use hate speeches to keep us down, people should not be afraid of us.

“We will work with the people for love and unity of this country. Give us a chance, treat us fairly for we have sacrificed. Even the states that are asking for VAT to collect, we have contributed alot in building those states”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will ensure the above is done. It is on record that he was the first civilian governor to appoint Igbos as commissioners in Lagos state. He will integrate the south east into the mainstream of national politics and make a deal with Nnamdi Kanu to renounce Biafra and join the Federal executive council as minister of national unity and integration.

I'm from South East and I want Nigeria president of South East extraction but this man here is speaking incoherently and this is not how our people talk.
At a stretch, he called SE a state.
In another stretch, he wants to be treated properly no matter who is enthroned.
He even speaks more for Ebonyi state cos he thinks Biafra will mean second slavery to them (Ebonyi) and went further to say that what is good for OTHER STATES is good for SE undecided(Ebonyi).
Please don't take him serious. He has eaten on a wrong table against him people and he's lost.

I support the governors, on the condition that the PDP zone it to the SE first.

PDP will never, not in 600 years, and if PDP won't reward their 24 years of support, is it APC that they never support for one minute that will reward them.

South East hate APC so much that they are cheering ipob terrorists, just to destroy Buhari government.

South East hate APC so much that they are killing their own people to make the party look incompetent.

The North has been there for ten years now. That is if you add Yaraduas 2 years to Buhari 6 locust years. By the time Buhari is through, the North would have been there for 12 years! The North has had the vice presidency for 16 years under Nomadi Sambo and Atiku Abubakar. The South West has had the presidency for 8 solid years with Obasanjo and now chasing another 8 solid years with the vice presidency. We are not talking of over 4 decades of military dictatorship by these wayward clans! It's the turn of the east! Simple as that. If you guys can't stand an igboman as your president, fine, Then let my people go... But If any of you insists that the Igbo must be part of Nigeria and yet should Not be allowed to head the country, then you are pulling the tiger by the tail. It will bite.. it will bite very very very madly..

Oga ,there is not need to preach ..Yes the presidential ticket should go to the east but these crop of leaders (especially the present Governors ) are complete nuisance and a turn in the flesh to Thier own people . Who want to give these jokes the presidential ticket, when they cannot secure Thier various state? And are too having to use the lives of Thier own citizens as pawn In Thier game of Chest . Non of them in that picture deserve to be president . They are recently the new bride of the Fulanis . If they really want power to come to the East, then they must look for a credible and strong Igbo candidate, that has a good tract record .They should all endorse and campaign for him .Then we will know they are ready .But if they are talking about Thier own ambition, then they are jokers .

Yet they want to reap where they did not sow, they want evil Islamic Party (APC) ticket.

The north is not offering you the VP so stop lying. APC and PDP are planning to field presidential candidates from the south so where and when did the north offer you VP?

Anyway, the Igbos will get their fair share from national positions if Tinubu is elected the same way they got what was due to them during the Obasanjo presidency. Senate president, SSG, top ministerial positions, heads of federal agencies and strategic service chief appointment.
