Good morning all, please I have come again o, I need advice and guidance
I graduated from University in 2010 and I studied Agricultural Extension and Rural Development,I did my youth service in the state Agric Development Project and also got a job as an Agric officer in a rubber company after my NYSC..I worked there for over 3 years. I got a banking job in 2015 which is my current job now. My husband also started a poultry farm in 2016 which I was also part of (though the farm has been closed since 2018).

I want to apply for masters in Agribusiness management and Agricultural Economics at the University of Manitoba
I graduated with 3.84/5.0

What are my chances considering the study gap and my current job.?
Please advise
While you await the response from the gurus, this is my own opinion

Due to your 11years STUDY GAP your chances for a Masters is slim.

Also you have been in the Banking industry for 5-6 years now, I feel It would be more better if you go for a PG.Cert program related to your recent work experience (Banking).

Go through the following;

PG.CERT/POST DEGREE programs in BANKING related fields
https://www.nairaland.com/6719291/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/278#106402288

Potential Documents needed to apply for admission in a College for a PG. Cert program
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/221#103080983

Since you are going for a Program not related to your degree (AGRIC EXTENSION), but related to your work experience (BANKING), go through the contents in the link below
https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/414#95068409

Good luck!!!!

If you have the money, what do you need a sponsor for? You can self-sponsor yourself. Just have a very convincing SOP

Basically these are the schools i am interested in...
The schools with * * * have average fees which i am more interested in
(WAEC result for required courses)
C6 in English and Mathematics
B2 in Computer studies
B3 in physics
C5 in Biology

My questions is will i be required to submit any Standardized test if the school minimum requirement for English is C5 or better

And also what is the grading conversion for waec ?
Some of the schools require 60% on each course which i don’t understand and i have already booked an appointment with an advisor in each schools. But i need clarification as some deadlines are closer

*Simon Fraser university*
B.Sc Computing Science

*Memorial university*
Computer Science (Smart Systems)

*University of Regina*
B.Sc Computer Science

University of Saskatchewan
B.Sc Computer Science

*Dalhousie University*
B.Sc Computer Science

University of British Columbia
Computer Science (BA)

Concordia university Edmonton
B.Sc in Information Technology

*University of Manitoba*
Computer Science

University of Windsor
Computer Science (BCS)
Hello with regards to the WAEC, there is no need for any evaluation, Canadian colleges and universities accept it. All you need to do is to attach a copy of your WAEC result and also provide your WAEC student number and a valid WAEC scratch card pin so that they can verify your result.
With regards to your English grade. Honestly I'm skeptical whether you will be able to gain admission into computer science with your grades but not withstanding give it a try. If possible write IELTS to boost your chances. If you took SAT also, attach the result. All the best.

Based on what we read here….
Some get asked while some are not.
Best to have it with you, basically your account statement showing living expense should suffice. But if you wish to print your dad’s own along no problem, better to over prepared than under prepared (paper no get weight)

Okay, thanks!
The living expenses (10k cad=3m) is in my account but my second semester, the remaining of my tution fee is in my dad's.

If i have to show statement, it will be the one i used for my application, it can't be recent by then, cos we were not told to reprint on CIC page.
My dad and mine (normal statement) will be available as i tend to submit MBS.

With what I’ve seen here, you can print your dads statement and tell them your plan is that your living expenses will be transferred to you when you open a Canadian bank account. You’ll have to show a more recent statement too not the one you used for your application

A more recent statement, really? What if someone did not have, we can't print that at the airport now....

Moreover, i already have my living expenses in my personal acct.

Plus attaching evidence to prove the source of fund and a study leave approval letter if actually you would in a firm... That would be an home ties

My brother or sister, it is best to print both. They might not even ask you but if they ask you, you can give them. Although, it's better for the money to be in your account but the money can easily be sent to you in Canada anyways.

Living expenses is in my acc, remaining will be in my sponsor's.
Showing the statement i used for visa app should be okay now, will they expect me to print the latest, a month to traveling...

Hello Snow

Since you said you have nobody to sponsor you which I don't really understand, If you have enough money to sponsor your education in Canada, then you can be a self sponsored applicant... But there is more to being Self sponsored, do you have dependents, do you have assets in your home country, apart from your studies, do you have more than enough to cater for your other expenses, also do you have a solid inflow and outflow of transactions in the past months?

Remember Visa officers do not just look at the closing balance, they also check the transaction history of the statement of account submitted to know if the inflow and outflow of the Self sponsored applicant is convincing enough...

Peace..
