What we do is to bring out all pipes that needs to get to the soakaway system, then we make a chamber where all the pipes converge, the whole waste then travels down to the soakaway system. Ensure you have good gradient, gravity will do the rest.

Master did you link the septic and soak away internally with any 4” pipe. You know the old school way. I want to know if you use that method since u mentioned, link both in case the septic gets filled.

Yes there is usually a link between the two tanks. A 4 inch pipe, or two different 4 inch pipes is always used to connect the two pipes around the top of the separating wall.

Usually, we use 4" pipes. But if the flats are more than 6 using one tank, it might be better to use 6" pipes as the last pipe going into the soakaway system.

My plumber is suggesting i use 6" pipe for my project which is my residential house. His reason is that nothing would ever block the pipe. What is your take on that, any disadvantages of using 6"?

Apart from cost, there is no disadvantage to using the 6" pipes. But using it on a single apartment seems like an overkill to me. Except for 1 house in about 45 buildings, I have been using only the 4" pipes in every house and i haven't been called back to service a blockage ever. I have a house that has 8 flats in it, 4" pipes has been serving this whole house since 2015 till date, the soakaway hasn't been evacuated since then, and the property is always full of tenants.

But you can go ahead and do the 6", every house and every terrain is different.

I always use Niger pipes.

We're ready to restart this building from the upper floor. Receiving a supply of blocks this morning........

Work on the first floor of this house has reached advanced stages. The walls are almost on the lintel levels of 10 block courses.

Good morning Sir, which course did you study in school and what is your work experience like? I think it has some relevance to what we do.

It all depends on what the building plans specify. A duplex foundation is usually 1 meter deep. So there should be about 3 blocks below ground level when we consider the concrete blinding. This is for dry ground only.

thanks... yes I did chained foundation and it has a lot of pillars both internally and around. I intend doing chained linted also.
