Nairalanders please i need suggestions as to how i can improve my ospoken English to absolute fluency.

Speak more, speak often.

Watch alot of American movies

1. follow news, interviews, and educative programs on television.

2. surround yourself with people that enjoy having conversations in English.

3. watch the soap opera tinsel

The above suggestions are OK but u can add this one to it, hire me as a guide

If I'm watching American movies, if I'm not with my dictionary app, I won't be comfy

Build self esteem it's the first thing you need to do
Secondly try to read more and watch educating movies. Then hang around with ppl that command good use of English too.. You'll be fine op

Buy books on the subject

You learn to speak a language fluently by speaking along.

Play a recording of a sentence or passage and speak along as it plays.

Visit nairaland often, read articles, educative books and interact with people in English from time to time.

Read lots of books...American movies is for those who already speak English fluently and want to improve their accent.

If you stick to American movies at this your level, it would only make you imitate their accent but your fluency and vocabulary would be horrible.

Get books and a dictionary and you're good to go.

Read a lot to increase vocabulary and learn to form sentences. When done. Download babbel.com ..... thank me later.

Read interesting pure English novels that portraits about life.

Read mess papers, it helps too.

If u get European white folks on ur fb as friends, this will do the job in no time, call them regularly based on friendship level, ur tongue will meet up their fluent in no time, talking from experience.

This needs some more clarification. If you say you have a challenge with spoken English,
1. Is it about the right pronunciation of words? Accent problem? Mother tongue interference?

2. Is it about clearly expressing your thoughts using the English language as a medium? Then this will be about diction, the right words, knowledge of structure and usage.

Firstly, you need to take away shyness and pride (no offence is meant whatsoever). Be proud to speak anyhow, anywhere in as much as the message you are trying to pass is well understood.

Now, let's create a tailor-made solution.

You see brother, Rome wasn't built in a day. In this context, you can't learn perfect English in a day. It's a gradual and manual process that will later become automatic (when you become fluent).

Get a good O level English textbook. Read and understand the parts of speech and their uses.

Now, write a one-page text in your native language. Then, translate to English on another page. Place a mirror, preferably in your room, and read both texts. Now, try to paraphrase the English text as if though you were being interviewed at reading a written text. Repeat the process for a month. Take note of the time spent and fluency.

In two week's time, you should be an above-average speaker.

Remember, speak outside. Don't be shy.

Lastly, don't try to bend English or form British/American accent.

PS: Watching American movies won't help a lot because, most likely, he won't understand what they are saying (since they'll be speaking deep accent)

Start from......"i go up, up i go"

Attentive listening to those who are good at it and practicing it. Personally, listening to BBC radio right from my secondary school days has stretched my mind.

Just keep reading books, articles, newspapers, magazines etc. and also watch standard documentaries and well packaged TV shows (mostly foreign ones) and lastly, roll with people that speak good and fluent English.
