Just read that MPJ's max contract is not fully guaranteed. Just want to ask is D Ayton worth a max contract?
IMHO he is like Gorbert great in his role but not someone you give the max or like in the case of Gorbert the supermax. If Ayton can take the kind of deal Jaylen Brown took from the Celtics then that's cool. Even if he waits till next year I don't think the market will give him max money as RFA.
I don't think I'd give Ayton the max if I were GM but I can understand as a #1 pick why Ayton would feel slighted. Now did he want a 5year max? Cause a shorter duration would be a bit reasonable. He's not an offensive weapon like a Jokic neither is he a defensive pillar like Gobert plus bigs playing with Chris Paul tend to look better than they really are. I strongly doubt a contender in the open market will max him but a struggling team certainly can

This Simmons situation has gotten ugly. On one hand, I love Daryl Morey in the hot seat. On the other hand, I detest the lack of professionalism from Simmons.

I had this argument with Roland17 sometime ago on owners vs players. So far this offseason, he has been more right than me - Kyrie, former players defrauding NBA health insurance, and now Simmons. This is going to cost players at the next bargaining agreement.

Ayton is definitely not worth max. Strangely, I think if they had missed being in the Finals last year and he did not get outclassed by Giannis, someone may have thought he deserved max. Last year's finals exposed him big time and dropped his stock.

If not laziness I don't see why any self respecting GM would or should trade for Ben Simmons, its not like he's a generational talent that you can win a title with as the focal point of anything. Don't these GMs have some sort of G-code? The reason Simmons can keep doing this foolishness is cause he believes some sucka team out there will still trade for him. If they all came out and made it known they want no parts of his nonsense in their organization he would either sit up or quit the game

I am happy you brought this up because I take style dey wait..

Ben Simmons is on a 35M/Yr contract, had the worst post season, is called out by the media, not the Sixers oh! Infact, Doc and the entire organization even protected and supported him during the horrendous postseason he posted. But of course, like a baby he decides to throw tantrums, demanding a trade because the media and critics called you out for your refusal to develop an offensive game! Are you seriously kidding me? I am glad the Sixers are calling his bluff and refusing to give in. He realized this and reported to camp because of course he was going to start losing huge amounts. How do you just allow someone on that kind of contract just walk away with nothing! This man can not even command good trades in the market, yet he wants to be respected.

Kyrie makes 33.3/Yr, got injured to no fault of his during last season's playoffs which contributed the Nets getting knocked out. You rehab, get ready for the new season, only to refuse vaccination, a legitimate choice with consequences but somehow you expect the Nets to keep you on the roster and continue to pay you! What rubbish!!! Once again, the owners call his bluff and now someone is sitting at home losing money.

How about Harden? You get all that money from the Rockets, rather than work with the owners and management on how to figure out the trade, you disappear..Only to reappear overweight and force a trade to your preferred destination..The list goes on and on!

Remember what I told you during that argument? At some point, the owners are going to fight and they will fight dirty! I better not hear any rubbish from anyone about it when that time comes. They are already telling you their direction with how they are handling this Kyrie and Simmons situations. This is not just about seeking trades but the owners are intentionally balking and refusing to entertain trade offers just so he can learn a lesson.

Actually, this is what the owners of the NBA teams are doing! Since this situation started, have you heard of any real trade offers? I mean serious trade offers? None of the owners want a part of it and that is why he is still with the Sixers. They are pretty much calling his bluff at this point.

He wants the 5yr $172milliom max, which for me is way too much and he will not get close to that in the open market. A 5yr $140-150 mil or a 4yr $120-130million is the best he can get IMHO and that is from the suns because of what he has done for them

Assin, for that kind of money, Simmons should have just shut up in public and worked with the Sixers to rebuild his trade value during the season, then get traded before the deadline. As for Kyrie him own too much abeg

If you are George Hill, how will you feel? You get traded by the Bucks, they win the Championship the following season and they bring you back after the winning the Championship..

I wonder what was going through his mind during the ring ceremony grin

Its the height of selfishness after all that organization has done for him. Even more pitiful is that his agent cannot talk some sense into his head and make him realize he has zero leverage. And as overrated as I consider Ben I don't see why Philly shouldn't feel entitled to whatever compensation they deem fit even though I don't think he's worth it. This will definitely be talk of the next CBA. Selfish players and agents like Rich Paul who is enjoying LeNomad's umbrella for now

Well he's had his chances on good teams. That should be extra motivation. I'm quite intrigued by the Bucks additions. (Allen, Mamukeshvili, Ojeleye) young pesky 3 and D guys and then Divincenzo returning. Looks an awkward team on paper with no flash but they will give teams even more fits this year

Bro! This is what I was thinking, but am like, nah, they wouldnt go this low. They cant possibly fight this dirty. Especially with Simmons. Morey is a really savvy GM, and I couldnt understand why they didnt unload him this offseason. Unless Morey and the Sixers front office actually want to prove a point and punish him.

Baba, this is not even about the GMs, this is about the owners who own the clubs. Don't forget, these owners are like a fraternity and it seem they are looking to get a hold of things again. I won't be shocked if the owners have agreed not to give in and that is why we are seeing the push backs with Simmons and Kyrie's situation, more so with the former. We agree that the Simmons may not command a huge trade value but the silence with which all the teams have treated his threat is obvious say "Monkey hand dey inside". Everyone is just packaging trades on their respective websites, nothing concrete.

I can't wait for the next collective bargaining. I have always maintained that it is the players who are not stars or superstars that will suffer the most.

Lol. On banner night? They would have lost today even with Kyrie. Anytime you have 2 or 3 role players knackin double digits you're typically screwed

Naaaa...They would have won the Bucks series if Harden was healthy and without Kyrie.. I mean they pushed the Bucks without Kyrie/ Harden. I won't read into the W for the Bucks but I think the Nets need to figure out that interior position and their TOs. When they switch everything, they look vulnerable inside the paint.
