Good Day Gurus,

Please i need your guidance, I recently applied for a Masters program at a Canadian University though I wrote a letter for a waiver of GMAT the response was because I graduated with a second class lower class i should provide a GMAT score of 550 minimum.

My question is how do you think I should approach this with the university? should i appeal or re-provide the waiver letter?

are there other school in Canada I can apply that will not require GMAT, full school fees payment before granting Admission bearing in mind I am applying with a second class lower in Accounting with 10years working experience (4 years as a contract staff).

Please advise me.

Hello

I'm so happy to be on this platform, am a newbie cheesy and this platform was introduced to me by my younger sis when I informed her about my dream to relocate to Canada with my family but no idea on how to go about it.

I graduated with 2.2 Bsc Microbiology 2015, presently working with a Life Insurance company as a customer service representative, 2 years experience in this line.

Pls gurus in the house, have gone throughalot of testimony on this platform and I believe am in the right place.

1.Kindly assist to suggest Master courses I can apply for as regards my qualification and work experience and also list of universities I can apply to

2. According to my research so far, have come to understand that when you gain a scholarship you don't need IELTS. Abeg help me confirm that.

3. Please I need materials to help me prepare for the English test exam.

4. If am travelling with my family through the study permit route, is my spouse required to also write the English test exam.

Thank you all in advance to your contributions.
Hello Ma'am

While you await the response of the GURUS,

1) Due to your Study gap (graduated 6-years ago) and your grade, you can't go for a Masters, you can only go for a POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (PG. Cert) related to your Customer Service Representative work experience. e.g. Public Relations, Public Administration, Human Resources Management (HRM). That's a CAREER PROGRESSION

That being said,

Take your time and do a thorough research (google) on the following PG. CERT PROGRAMS, check the program overviews, course curriculum (courses taken in each program), tuition amount for international students, Admission intakes (WINTER, SPRING, FALL) etc. and go for the one that suites you based on your work experience and job duties

PG. Cert in Public Relations (good for people with CUSTOMER SERVICE Work experience, sociology graduates)
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/399#103890193

PG. Cert in HRM (Human Resources Mgt.) & Colleges Offering them
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/652#105068930

Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Human Resources Management
Okanagan College, British Columbia

PG. CERT, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
Humber College, Ontario

You would likely be needing the information in the links below when you wanna apply for admission;

Potential Documents needed to apply for admission in a College for PG. Cert (Most especially at Ontario Colleges)
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/221#103080983

Since you are going for a Program not related to your degree (MICROBIOLOGY), but related to your work experience (CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE), go through the contents in the link below
https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/414#95068409

2) In the context of Canada (as a Nigerian applicant cos you speak English), that's actually not true, but for USA, very true.
IELTS is only needed if you want to APPLY for your STUDY VISA APPLICATION via the Nigeria Student Express (NSE) route.
Go to Page 1 of this thread to read about the NSE route.

3) Await a response from others on that

4) Await a response from others on that

Good luck!!!!

Congratulations which school is this and which program are you going for?

quote author=dassypei post=107072486]My study permit approval timeline

LONG POST ALERT!

I have been a silent reader. I’m really grateful for this platform and to everyone that shared their experiences. Here we go

First time applicant

•Submitted: May 14th
•Biometrics letter: May 15th
•Biometrics done: May 19 uploaded the same day
•Upfront Medical done: May 17th
•Updated on my profile: May 20th
•Eligibility review: June 16th
•BVL/PPR: October 26th

I got partial funding and the remaining fund was sponsored by a non-relative: a family friend which I clearly stated. I almost got discouraged because I wasn’t using a relative but I just trusted God.

Documents submitted

IRCC FORMS

1. Application for Study Permit Made Outside of Canada (IMM1294E),
2. Family Information form (IMM5645E)
3. Temporary Resident form (IMM5257B)

Conditional offer (Masters)

POF

1. Letter of sponsorship
2. Affidavit of support
3. Letter of funding from my school
4. Sponsor’s Work ID
5. Sponsor’s International passport data page
6. Sponsor’s payslip and promotion letter
7. Sponsor’s bank account statements

Client Information

1. Letter of explanation- about 6 pages
2. Unofficial Transcript
3. Letter from my undergraduate uni acknowledging I’m a graduate because no certificate, we hadn’t done convocation then
4. WAEC Certificate
5. NYSC Certificate
6. Police Certificate
7. Certificate of completion for a training
8. Certificate that shows I’m a student member of the professional organization
9. Email conversation with my supervisor
10. Email conversation with my school to show I had fulfilled the conditional offer
11. Letter of Introduction from current employer
12. Letter of Recommendation from NGO (for home ties)
13. Work contract from previous job
14. Photos with colleagues from previous job, work brochure
15. Pictures of myself with my immediate and extended family (for home ties)
16. Birth certificate of myself and siblings
17. NIN data page of mom and International passport of dad (No birth certificate because they did not have)

Documents I later sent (through webforms x emails)

1. My upfront medicals on May 17
2. Affidavit to confirm my names are the same (had Oluwa... in my birth certificate but dropped it in secondary school) on May 20
3. A letter from my school confirming my offer was no longer conditional on June 14
4. An enquiry about my application and also attached a proof of registration via web form on July 27
5. I received an acknowledgment of the last web form Aug 9
6. I sent emails every week day from the end of September and October. I also copied the minister’s office in one. I got a response after a month from his office that I had passed background and medicals but eligibility hadn’t been decided (in October)
7. I started classes online in September. I sent proof of enrollment in October via email.

This process was excruciating. I don’t do well with waiting. I’m grateful it has ended. By the mercy and favour of God, things worked out for MY GOOD! It felt like I was running out of time but God was perfecting everything.

I saw a confession here that I used to say regularly. I also had one from the Bible - Genesis 39:21

21 But the Lord was with Joseph (I PERSONALIZED THIS), and shewed him (HER) mercy, and gave him (HER) favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison (CANADIAN VISA OFFICERS AND IMMIGRATION OFFICERS).

This journey is not for the faint hearted but I’m really grateful for the mercy and favour of God. All glory to God. I couldn’t have done it in my own strength!

Am I in a dream? This is surreal!
Thank you Jesus. I’m really grateful to God for perfecting this testimony. I pray for those trusting God for an approval. He won’t fail you. Congratulations in advance. I celebrate with you.

PS: I wrote this timeline months ago as a declaration of my faith in the sovereign power of God. Thank you Jesus for a dream come true.[/quote]

Thank you so much

Ketima:

For your first question, I don't think is possible to approve a dependant to the main applicant while the main applicant is denied. Instead, I have witnessed where the dependant gets PPR first before the principal applicant.

The second question to some point is possible (probability). I haven't witnessed such so can say. But note that the way this IRCC does their things, anything is possible.

No need you're good to go. You don't need to do biometrics. Funny enough enh immediately you apply and submit online, the following day you'll see that the exact date, month and year of your biometrics, UCI and application number will be updated on your GCKEY

Gloria first you need to order your notes. I believe these reasons are generic but going through your profile. You already said your sponsor is a 3rd party. And I'll be guessing you didn't show enough commitments. It's useless trying to figure out your case if we don't know enough about what you submitted and what the VO's assessments are. Please don't give up I have a gut feeling you just didn't package your application well enough.

My sponsor was a third party but he transferred my living expense to my account, he also paid my first semester tuition which i included the bank telex as part of my application. I ordered for my notes earlier this month so i will just wait for it to se their concerns.

Are there options or offers for people with 2.2 (3.04 cgpa) in Political science that seeks a career change in Computer science or IT at Masters degree level in Canada?
Hi honorable,

Unfortunately, you can't go for a MASTERS in a program (I.T) you have no academic background in cos your academic transcript will say much about your POLITICAL SCIENCE degree.

Also your CGPA is insufficient for a Masters in Canada. Your admission chances for a Masters degree is slim for the above CGPA cos Canadian Universities requires a minimum of 2.1 and a strong GPA of the last two years (75%) upward e.g your 400L and 500L (5 years Undergraduate degree) or 300 L and 400 L (4 years Undergraduate degree)

If you want to convince a Visa Officer with your study visa application in terms of CAREER PROGRESSION, you are expected to go for a PG.Cert program related to your degree (if its not too long you graduated from the university, at least minimum of 3-years)

or

a PG.CERT program related to your Work Experience

Based on your POLITICAL SCIENCE DEGREE, you might want to go through the following PG. Cert programs and see how it relates with your degree

PG. Cert, Alternative Dispute Resolution
Humber College, Ontario

PG. Cert in Journalism (International Journalism) an option for an POLITICAL SCIENCE, HISTORY & INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE

PG. Cert in Public Relations
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/399#103890193

PG. CERT, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
Humber College, Ontario

It's good you ordered your notes. your sponsor may not be the problem. Based on what you said I'm sure in your sponsors letter he explained in detail. Did you provide anything based on personal finance and assets. I'm assuming you're a mature applicant.

Yes... I mean why not? The very reason you got that gic account was cos you are a student and before gic could issue you the invoice, they did their kyc by demanding your passport and school admission letter...you gerrit now? In other words, the account is for housing your school fees...

But then you should note this? To process it under cbn's invisibles scheme, it must not exceed 15k USD per semester... meaning, to process that required 8,300 USD as demanded by gic, your normal school fees that you are to pay to your school for the semester should not exceed 6,700usd ... that's to say, you can go ahead to process this gic 8,300 if and only if, you have not made any school fees exceeding 6,700 for the semester

And yes..as an evidence, I processed my gic under the invisibles together with my school fees...you just have to use the same documentation for both except for the invoices which will of course differ

Hope I have cleared your confusion...?for more enquiries, contact your bank.... remain blessed

Good day all

Please disregard that gic info....use ur dorm account...access bank said that they will recall the transfer...that it's meant to be paid to school directly and not to personal account. So please take note...I apologize for the inconveniences

Thank you
