Igbo?

Let Nairalanders help us settle this, which tribe has the best soups of all tribes in Nigeria?

Like for Igbo (South-East)
Share for South-South (Ijaw & others...)
We get sweat tongue bro.point of correction ,we are not only in south east.

Borrowed? They have bitterleaf soup, oha, ofe Owerri, ofe nsala, etc. I love soups. So I cooked practically all. And I like to learn the soups from an indigene
White soup belongs to Efik/Ibibios, ibos cooked a borrowed version.
Vegetable soups ain't ibo's forte. Oha soup is a watery soup with some sprinkle of scent leaves. Bitter leaf soup is a general delicacy.

Even if an Angel comes from heaven to inform me that eating Ewedu will stop all of Earth's problems.

Please, let the problems continue.

I'm not going to guzzle hydraulic fluid.
Ewedu (Jute leaf) is not peculiar to Yorubas. It is eaten by Arabs,Indians and other Africans like Sudanese etc.

jute leaf good for pregnancy?

The WHO recommends supplementation of folic acid and iron for all pregnant women at risk of malnutrition to prevent anaemia and birth defects however people can get rid of their diseases by consumption of jute leaves (rama) which is rich in folic acid and iron as suggested by the findings of this work.

no it isn't. No tribe can claim egusi. It is universally nigerian

If you had said melon soup in your post, I would have accepted but you mentioning Egusi defeated the whole purpose.

Evusi as a name is an Igbo name, besides have you ever eaten anything without stew added to it?
A real egusi soup has no stew added to sweeten it. Its just sweet on its own.

The south south has more food than the south east but when it comes to Egusi... Its the east that owns it.

I'm from the south south. Not Igbo.

Do the Sudanese, Arabs and Indians prepare jute leaf the way Yoruba prepare it?

South south.

Am from Anioma in a place called delta state. I still can't put the difference between the igbos in delta state with those across the Niger. Please, our history never stated in 1914 or 1960. Stop comparing south south with south east. We are same people. Same culture and same food. What he could have said is that igbos tribes have more soup than any tribe in Nigeria. Not south south and south east. because we in Anioma have more in common with the igbos in Anambra than some one from Benin or sapele.

Eating yam gives you twins not ewedu.
The igbos, benue and northern cross river haveore twins than any other. It is not ewedu.

Check the composition of drugs that can give people twins, it has yam root in it.

Lol.. you should stick to your hydraulic greenish gbegiri soup with your ewedu soup. Instead of saying what you don't know.

Yorubas and soup shouldn't be in the same sentence.. you people have no food to even start wuth

there a difference between vegetable soup and ego riro

Efo riro is Yoruba's vegetable soup just like Off Ugu and Edikaikon are Igbo's and Calabar's vegetable soups respectively.

Remove vegetable soup from ibos. It's really not their forte. Oha has oha leaves and pizza leaves. Nice soup.

I don't know but what I do know is that we south west don't have much soup probably just 3 or 4 popular soup variety and that's all

My Igbo family friend on the other hand is always cooking different stuff, they can afford to rotate soup for complete two months without repeating any variety, Yoruba options will be exhausted in less than 2 weeks of regular cooking considering you cook soup every four to five days
May be una no get better cook for the family...Ishapa, Iroko, Ilasa, Elegede soup (pumpkin Soup), Obeluku, Olu soup, Igba Soup Or’nla (Dried Okra Soup)etc...so many traditional soup of yoruba has gone extinct...only few you know. Plus food like Adalu, Asaro, Otili, Ojojo, Pupuru,Ofada with special stew, Esuru, Ikokore, Leti, Yoruba has far more soup and food than those once you see around...
