IT has always been a gold mine. However, some technological advancements have accelerated online engagements (shopping, teaching and learning, trading etc) and the possibility of working remotely. Thus, more jobs.

The issue is the risk, what happens if their plans somehow flopps next year? I suggest you bargain for part time in the startup and hold on to your highest paid part time gig. From my experience security is worth more than pay.

Op, the devil you know is better than the Angel you never know. Stay where you are for now, no let greed scatter your plan. How can you even trust company wey u never work with.

From experience, start up companies will promise you heaven on earth only to disappoint you.

They may have the funds initially, what happens most times is under budgeting. In the end, you'll end up being owed salary.

I have been in the exact same situation as you. I picked the later. Till date, the company still owes me more than 1.2M in salary

I agree with him. Most Startup companies are not reliable. Wasted a full year in Abuja with a startup company. I ended up spending my own money trying to keep my team with the company. I couldn't take it anymore, I resigned. The company is still owing 2.8million salary till date.

Based on my experience, I will advise you stick with companies with solid foundation and have stood the test of time.

Made the mistake of going for the money over career advancement amongst other benefits (although long term)...it was between a company new in a city...they employed so many people to kick off, while the other is a big company with branches in some Scandinavian and Baltic countries. But when the tsunami of Covid 19 came, the new company didn't think twice before laying off 75% of its work force, including myself. While all of those I left at my previous company kept theirs...funny and sadly enough, I was the pioneer when it comes to blacks working in that department of the company.

So my brother, sometimes, it is not always about the money...Think it through...i wish you the very best.

I recently applied for another full-time job, it's a startup that is just moving from ideation phase to implementation. And they are offering me 650k salary a month even though I told them my salary expectation is 500k a month. I will be working 2 days onsite, 3 days remotely.

I am enticed by this new salary and at the same time, my current jobs have built structure that I can trust.

Not to even mention that I occupy a very important position in these two companies: though not a big deal.

All these people that are saying they want to go into IT simply because they see 650k per month I am sure they are saying it because of the money and I know they don't really have passion for it.... just remember that every job we do have people that make progress in it and those that don't. Don't just think that all of them are successful. Na lie...

It depends on your skill how niche it is,

You earn 350k in 1 year that is 4,200,000 and with the new job in a year is 7,800,800 that means you can fast track earnings, you're can earn almost twice of 350k in a year. However if the job cannot be guaranteed within a year, then that is a problem.

It depends on how risky you are, if you can easily get a job then I'd say take the 650k, and keep enough for when you run out of a job.

The bigger the risk the bigger the reward or cost All the best sir.

Don't think short-term. The starting salary is ₦650k, which means with pay increase and promotions you stand a chance to earn much more in a couple of years. If you believe in what the startup is doing, go for it.

His salary of 650K is not even assured because the company could fold up tomorrow, you're here talking about increment in salary

Hope you still have leave days on your remote jobs....take leave, accept new offer and study them well for the one month. Uou most likely would know if you want in or out in 1 month. Biko accept the offer.

have you thought of shuffling them together? or better still drop the 150k job and shuffle the 650k and 250k jobs

Alot of people don't make progress and the expertise these job requires are very professional. I've seen dev want to enter IT but quit when they see the sheer effort and sacrifice required. Though older generation tend to understand the sacrifice required and pursue it, new generation want it fast and quick and easily give up when it is too difficult.

What happened is: the management of this new company placed the Job advert with a more popular company on LinkedIn which I suspect they own as well. It was after successful interviews, that I was told it's a start up and I won't really be working with the company I thought earlier..

If there is a signed agreement. And make deep research on the startup. If na naija or India use two eyes look am well well. Na so one naija firm say them go de pay me 100 to 200k depends on how many task I do. Them de call me for midnight for task. Na so I realize say freelancing job go pay me more whilst I drink my tea.
