If Chinese take over and we have electricity 24hours..

Food prices go down.

Won't you love so?
Hope you will be treated as a first class citizen when the time comes.... be mindful of what you wish for.... don't forget how slavery started in Nigeria, don't forget the missionaries came at the early stage we welcomed them thinking they were harmless...

Too many paranoid people on this thread spewing western rhetoric heard on western news stations! The housing deficit in Nigeria is one of the largest in the world so any initiatives to reduce the deficit is welcomed provided the properties are affordable for everyday people; and there are mortgage facilities to enable people to purchase homes. The Chinese are like the typical business savvy Igbo man who sets up a kiosk at a street corner, and over time builds that little business into several shops with several apprentices serving him. They (the Chinese) have mastered the act of sniffing for, and locating business opportunities because of the hardships they faced when the world considered their country a backwater lined with rice paddies and rickshaws. You may be right not to trust them. You may also be right to want to abhor them. But at the end of the day, you still need them because they're the only ones currently investing heavily in Africa. The West plundered us and left us bare! And they're still plundering and stripping us buttocks bare through agencies such as the World Bank, IMF, and unfavorable trade and monetary agreements as seen between France and Francophone countries in Africa. If our leaders had our interests in their hearts, the money they loot would've been enough to build affordable homes across the entire stretch of Nigeria! Electricity and every basic amenities would have been provided if our leaders weren't as devilishly corrupt as they are. China provides electricity to 1.45+ billion people yet Nigeria can't provide electricity supply to a meager 250 million people! We should bury our heads in shame! Lastly, make I begin save money to purchase one flat for Akwa Ibom! No time!
May God and Allah join hands bless you for this sense of wisdom you just put together

Honestly, I have my reservations when it comes to the Chinese. No group of people do anything for nothing. What's in it for the Chinese? Not only that, these Chinese are the same people who threw Africans out of their homes in China and tried to blame Africans for coronavirus. The Chinese are extremely racist and their presence in Africa makes me nervous and concerned. This is how Whites came to Africa back in the day bringing 'greek gifts' and acting like they have our best interest at hand and before we knew it, our people were enslaved and shipped away to God knows where while those who were left behind were colonized. I don't trust other racial groups not because I am racist but because history has shown that they never mean well for us. Just saying.
So who would we rather turn to for development, capital and technological help.

It’s great initiative and commendable. But in China there’s nothing like private investment and investors. Everything is state owned and controlled by the communist part CCP.
Government should be wary and alert about any foreign investment especially from China.
There are series of problems about housing projects in China called ghost houses . These millions of houses built all in the name of development but empty and nobody lives there.
China is badly indebted to it’s investors.
Akwaibom is doing great though. I love the state and it’s administrative prowess.
Remember this project was brought to Akwa ibom by an Akwa ibom son ok

They sold the land to them.. They will not be part owners of the properties and the Chinese wous sell it to highest bidders and who are they non akwa Ibom and the Chinese wous make money and still collect service charges

While they are onlookers in their own land....

These people are daft naturally...

OK it is a private investment.

Now, why call the Chinese to aid in the construction when our universities produces quality engineering graduates.

Is it a bad thing to pay our engineers the money that would be paid to these Chinese in the end.

Every action has its consequences.
These Chinese won't consider us humans. Try to understand this.
I don't know if someone has responded to you but if you understand private investment you'll realize that often time business men don't always have 100% of all they need to venture into businesses and enterprises of their choice. What option do they have then?
Borrow from commercial banks: banks in Nigeria do not give loans whose repayment are longer than 36months at most, the best you can get in Nigeria is 60 months and these are often CBN loans, and you know projects like this are long term projects whose returnnok investment are often also longer, so Nigerian banks will not listen to you.
What other option do they have? Look for other like minded Nigerians who have this kind of fund required for such project and are ready to invest long term. If I may ask how many Nigerians are ready to do this or rather how many Nigerians have the kind of funds required for such?
Finally what other option do we have: look for foreign investors to partner with you on this. This is where the Chinese come in. The individual Chinese may not personally have the monies but their govt have transnational banks that lend to Chinese going to other countries to build big projects at low interest rate and longer tenors of up to 10 to 15 years.
The Chinese have soft power. What is soft power? Enough Dollars to throw around?
Now if you are going to Kenya to build a university won't you want to go with some of your architect's or engineers etc? Of course you would especially when you're the one bringing most of the capital. But you'll also employ some locals there.
This is how private investment works. In the referenced investment for instance the Nigerians there partnering with the Chinese may not even be contributing cash, their only contribution is that they may have purchased the land to be used in the project and the business will be in the ratio of 60:40
60% to the Chinese and 40% to the Nigerians or even lower as the case maybe.
S this is how private investment works

With all this amazing 3D Pictures one would be left to imagine that maybe Akwa Ibom is an amazing state to live in with all this investment little would one understand that all this amazing pictures are all for the camera and when you come into the state you'd realise that it ain't no different from all other states you've been throwing shades at cause all the said project initiated by Akwa Ibom State Government has been filed with excuses why they are not always completed but the state government keeps initiating new ones without the later ever seeing the light of the day.

It is only in this same state that over 11BN has been budgeted for a church building that has no economic advantage, if you ask me the state of the project and I'd tell you its not even near a quarter to completion so you already know it's be abandoned..

It is only in Akwa Ibom State that her government can give up excuses that the opposition party placed Mbiam (Juju) on its farm that is why both the coconut and all other agricultural produce embarked by the state Government is not growing and hasn't seen the light of the day.

It is only in Akwa Ibom State that the government pays so much for publicity in both national and local media about the projects initiated by the state government but when you take a trip to those sites you'll be bewildered by state which is opposite of what's always projected, just so I'd tell you, in Akwa Ibom State online community (users of internet) we have troops of government paid boys (on data subscription) that defends the state government at any given chance without even seeing the dividends of their defense.

Incase you don't know, let me tell you that Akwa Ibom is still maintaining the chart of second state with highest rate of unemployment

Second with highest number of out of school children (highly female)

State with highest cases of HIV

State with second highest number of Alcoholic consumers

Let Udom tell the world the truth why he stopped EFCC from investigating the financial books of the state when several petitions was tendered.

Akwa Ibomites are suffering, almost all the bodies in the state has actually gone on strike, from the state own university (year one students has successfully been in year one for over three years because of AKSU strike, this is what the government won't tell you

The 21 smart building, let Udom tell the world how many companies are actually using the building

Let Udom tell the world who owns Ibom Air and Globus Bank

Let Udom tell the world the loan MOUs

It will be shocking to the world when he decamps to APC and all those who covered him will begin spilling all the evil this government has been doing

Imagine the governor of a state stating that the reason roads in his local government aren't completed is because contractors died.

When you are done insulting yourself then go back and read carefully , this time read with brains and comprehension…
Mister speaker this is a private project not state ok

Nice initiative though..
Most of the houses in the city centres are Old probably built in the 90's or 80's.... When Uyo was not yet developed..
You do find new buildings in uniform in the outskirts.
Which implies new settlements and the city is seriously expanding everyday...you hardly find land in the suburbs...the next 10 years... The city might need bigger roads.... because the traffic is beginning to get messy...
Though some of the old houses in the city have been phased out and replaced with storey buildings....
But storey buildings are not benchmark for developed city..

Lisbon with no high rise is more advanced and beautiful than Lagos and Abuja...

Do well to update us on the 10 lane ring road 3

God bless ibom republic
God bless Nigeria
The 8 lane is currently ongoing , in short currently houses around Oron road to the airport are currently been demolished.. The 10 lane which will connect the ibom deep seaport to the rest of the state as been captured in our 2022 budget for commencement of ibom deep seaport construction
