The ten runners up from the 10 groups plus the 2 best two teams from the nation's league that couldn't finish first nor second in their qualification group(making 12) will fight for the remaining 3 qualifying places.

The 12 teams are then grouped into 4 groups of 3. That is, three teams each in groups A,B, C and D

The group members will now play each other once(meaning a team plays two matches against the other teams in the group). At the end of the two rounds of matches, the four teams that top each group qualify for the semifinals.

Another draw will then be carried out to determine who faces who in the semifinals.

The two winners from each semifinal qualify for the world cup. While the two losers will play a third place playoff to determine who gets the final ticket.

The playoffs will take the form of one-off games over two rounds, a semi-final round and a finals round to determine the three teams who will advance to Qatar next year. Draw to be made on Friday, November 26, and the scheduled playoff semi-final and final dates are: March 24 and 25, 2022 respectively.
