Hello house

It seems France and schengen countries are not really popular with Nigerians cos I notice this thread is not active at all.

What do you guys think of any propose application this December considering the new COVID 19 variant ravaging Europe and the world at large?

Hello everyone,

I am about to start drafting the letter of appeal regarding our French visitors’ visas refusal. I want to know if it must be in French because I don’t understand French or is it okay in English language as well? Gurus should please help a brother. Thanks in anticipation.

The appeal should be in French language and must be submitted in France check your refusal letter to know where to summit your appeal the address is written on the letter

Thanks. The address is written on the refusal letter but how do they expect an English-speaking person from an English-speaking nation like Nigeria to appeal in french language? I have appealed in the past against a visa refusal at the German consulate and it was entirely in English language. Is this a deliberate attempt to frustrate the whole process or what? Has anyone here appealed against a French visa refusal and what the language of the appeal?

Although appeal is acceptable but if it’s all kind of short stay visa apart from business visa I’ll advise you to reapply you can first share the documents submitted and the reason for your refusal so that you can work on your weakness before reapplying because non speaking English don’t give Nigerians some privileges when it comes to dealings in other words they don’t believe you have outright right to get their visa si their appeal is more like a formality that’s why they even expect you to write in French language they know you don’t understand.

Germany visa appeal still works well.

N.B: This is a question about Austria Schengen visa.
I and my wife applied for Austrian Tourist visa since 22nd of October.... and till now we're yet to get any response...
Reason of visit is for Christmas Holiday.
We're first time visitor to Europe.
Just wondering if anyone have an idea of what's going on.
I've sent several email with no response to their embassy.
N.B: I'm asking on this thread because there's none for Austrian Tourist and I actually read this thread to for required documents....

Thank you

You can't.
Your passport must have at least 3 months validity after the date of your return.

Look at it from their standpoint - given that appeals are dealt with in France, why would they ask people to write their appeals in any language other than French?
As an aside, don't waste your time appealing.
Simply reapply.

Austria is currently in lockdown - maybe that has something to do with it as a Christmas holiday there is almost definitely not feasible at the moment.

We would have loved to apply but the available dates on VFS appointment booking platform are not going to work with our schedule. I even wrote the embassy to see if they could prevail on VFS to provide us an earlier date to reapply but they did not reply the emails and courier sent to them in this regard. Moving forward, from my research online, if we don't appeal, chances are that we would keep getting rejection each time we apply in the future either for a French visa or the visa of any other Member State of the Schengen Agreement. The wife of a friend was refused a German student visa 2 years ago and recently she was also refused a Polish student visa, this is how it works for the most part from my observation. The appeal is just to clear the air and also to minimise the possibility of future refusals from any Schengen Member State since they would have it on file and any embassy considering our future applications would at least see that we appealed.

As for the documents, I submitted 6 months worth of bank statements of both my business and personal accounts with substantial sums of funds in it with other documents too as though I was applying for a U.K visitor's visa. Some of the documents were even returned back to me at VFS for being too much. My partner submitted 2 bank statements of her salary and another account (6 months too). They said they aren't sure we would leave the Schengen area before the visa expires....that was the only reason for refusal. Though I have a German residence permit as a student but I had to apply with my family as a frequent traveler as they couldn't book for an appointment against the intended trip this December being first-timers. I guess they think I had other plans up my sleeves.

You are still asking again!! The appeal language is French. I have been refused visa before and my inviter appealed for me in French language over there we got an acknowledgment letter in French and didn’t hear from them again , that was in 2019 but I reply and got my visa. I have gotten visa twice since. Appeal is a waste of time

I already got the part where the appeal is to be in french. However, as for the second part, you can't completely rule out the efficacy of the appeal process. It might have played a role in you getting the visas subsequently after the initial refusal. My guess is that at least subsequent applications would be treated on their merits and not against the backdrop of the previous refusal.

I don’t think it has something to do with me getting subsequent visa. I was denied visa in Abuja because Abuja is not my jurisdiction unknowingly before I got there after appeal I went to Lagos and got my visa twice but since you believe it will help in your next visa application then give it a try and don’t hope for outcome otherwise you will get tired of waiting.
Follow the procedure on the appeal process stated on your refusal letter. Use translator then courier it to france.

Hello, i was refused in 2019. I wrote my appeal letter and used google translator to translate . It wasn't perfect but then they will understand it ..LOL.

After translating i sent to my friend in Paris as an email attachment , she printed and assisted me to mail to Nantes.

I did so because i wasnt expecting an overturn in the decision but for a better assessment in my next application.

I tried after some months and i was granted .

Thanks to @Beverlyhills for advising me to appeal the decision.

God bless you for this sir/ma. I think @HRprof needs to see this and I hope he does. That’s exactly why I want to appeal because of future applications, not necessarily because I am expecting a decision overruling the visa denial perse (clearing any atom of doubt surrounding the previous application). I travel a lot cos it’s fun and educating to me and I don’t think my family deserves any less. I will go ahead and finish up with the appeal, translate, sign and even attach an English copy to it before sending to France. I don’t have anything to lose by so doing. A stitch in time as they say, saves 9. I don’t want my people to be subjected to future visa refusals on account of this particular one cos the wife of a friend who was denied a German graduate student visa in 2019 was recently refused by Poland for the same reason despite paying part of the school fees. Let me do the needful now and save future tears.
