My brother as far as you didn't look down on the person for being fat, or used his/her size as an insult you didn't do anything wrong. No mind these MF's talking BS. I'm fat and I'm trying to loose weight bcs being fat ain't good for my health. If anybody tells me I'm fat without any insult attached to it then I take no offense

The word itself isn't offensive. It's the way it's used and the intent. And if that's the only word you have for such a broad topic, perhaps you need to expand your vocabulary.

Can you remember the day someone called you poor? How did you feel?

Call a poor Nigerian "poor man/woman" and watch how he/she gets angry. That's exactly how people with extra flesh feel.
you can't call someone poor when you don't feed and pay his bills.

It even sounds offensive to call ppl based on how they look to you. Who would like to be called, that poor man, the guy that smells like ogiri, the lady with plenty pimples, that short man, that bow legged papa, the ugly boy, that man with crooked teeth, that dirty woman, onye ofe mmanu, nyamiri, ndi ugwu, onye nama. Believe me I can go on and on. Even most of you that giddily call ppl fat, ugly, smelly etc, if you take a honest look at yourself, am sure there are parts of you, you just feel inferior to. Would u want ppl to call you for that??
Bottom line, let's be nice.

If you get arrested your weight and height, race will be used .

There's nothing nice about making someone feel better over something they can work on .

You woke retards are a cancer to the human race. You don't want people to be better, just fake yes queen nonesense

how is huge and plus size not body shaming?
The word "plus" represent addition and positivity. Same goes for "huge" e.g A huge result

You don't understand the psychological effect of using positive words to modify negativity

I never knew it was bad/offensive until some weeks ago. I just say make I go catch small cruise for Facebook since my brain dey hot due to some rugged codes I dey write. I see one babe for one group wey dey complain about her size oooo, na I innocently ask her say "ARE YOU FAT?"
The next thing I get from Facebook na 30days ban ooo, I shock. From that day, I learn say asking a lady weather she fat or not is offensive. I thank God say no be for Europe I go talk am, maybe dem for deport me sef. But we learn everyday sha!!! That word dey offensive for abroad but I no sure say E dey bad for 9ja. Na even our 9ja babes go dey ask you say "I don fat abi?" grin

I don talkbam before and I go talk am again, "The day I go mistakenly born girl pikin, I go ******"
Guy My fiancee is an African American , she is chubby .... That word FAT na big offense to her she tells me to say fluffy or nothing even though I am referring to someone else she hates . She has corrected me so many times grin I keep saying the same thing

It is not a disease. It is deliberate.
They eat and refuse to exercise
Just like you call a person tall or short, fat is also an adjective.
Call them by their names.

Chubby , Plumpy, plus size just to name a few .

It's very offensive to describe someone as being fat .

Another wrong description in Nigeria is calling a mixed race - "half caste " .

If you don't want to be called fat, go and work out and eat healthy or enjoy yourself in your body

Orobo if you fat, I go call you fat, if you don't Gerrit forget abourit

*In DJ Big N's voice* if you big you big abeg

And except bottles for your head one-day. Lots of people find that word offensive or simply body shaming.
Even calling someone who is not tall a dwarf or short , they find it very offensive.

Calling some a cripple is now offensive as well.

Today, you must avoid using certain words to describe physical appearance of people. It could tantamount to bodyshaming.

'Fat' is the first of them. Very offensive, especially for ladies.
'Slim' is another. Say 'petite'

'half-caste'. Say 'mixed' instead
'dumb'. Say 'mute' instead
'blind'. Say 'visually impaired'
'mad'. Say 'mentally challenged'
'handicapped'. Say 'physically challenged'
'stupid'. Say 'slow... dense'
Etc.

The more you read contemporary media, the more you encounter and learn more appropriate or accepted adjectives ideal for different sensitive situations.

cheesy cheesy cheesy, It's just a word, if they don't like it, then they can do the work,

People can lose fat, by exercising, eating fewer oils, chicken, and meats.

It takes discipline and consistency.
