T9ksy:It was because of Maimailari's kindness and generosity that Major Don Okafor was still at his Military Post of Federal Guards Commander during the Jan 1966 Coup Major Okafors Treachery didn't end with Maimailari Okafor was raised in Kano and spoke fluent Hausa ,that was why Prime Minister Balewa was fond of him and insisted on Okafor being given the Position of Federal Guards Commander Major Okafor was one of those who abducted Balewa before he was Killed |

Idiko1:http://www.gamji.com/nowa/nowa32.htm ‘CAPTAIN O. OJI - Infantry Captain Oji, Mons Officer Cadet School trained, one of the original three January conspirators, took part in the initially unsuccessful effort to arrest Brigadier Maimalari, killing a Lance Corporal of his guard in the process. Some sources claim that it was Oji that Okafor sent to accost General Ironsi but that Oji did not find him at home - an oddly timed assignment considering that Oji spent so much time at Maimalari's house at the outset. Anyhow, Oji later went to Ikeja Barracks for reconnaisance before the mutiny collapsed. It may have been Oji's group Gowon was referring to when he complained to Madiebo that he was being shadowed at Ikeja. Oji was arrested by Ironsi and detained in the East. He too was released by Ojukwu in 1967. One account says he died in action during the civil war in 1968. Another claims he survived the war.‘ Ok Capt Oji who failed to arrest Gen Ironsi at his house earlier had a fantastic 2nd opportunity to kill Ironsi but failed to do so but the same Capt Oji had no Problem killing Gen Maimailari’s guard Commander earlier Do you agree

Christistruth00:See how you calmly use hard facts and documentary references to demolish the revisionist tales they present with only insults and abusive language as proof. Only the empty in terms of intellect and facts are known to enter an intellectual debate with emotions and insults as cover up for their emptiness, yet when you get into the gutter of abuse with them just to prove that they have no such monopoly, they begin to cowardly call on the mods who themselves just ban without checking very well who actually started the insults. Only God will help the mods of this platform. But I know that one day a competitor group will spring up in which the mods will be more rational and just. That day Nairaland will face existential threat if the mods continue with this blatant partiality. |

Deadlytruth:Dude another lie again from you. Captain Oji didn't deliberately miss Ironsi. Maimalari was killed by Ifeajuna and not Captain Oji stop all these lies. I have told you i am ready for you i am still waiting for your answer to the lie you made about Zik moving NCNC HQ to Enugu. Bring proof with NCNC letter head that shows Enugu as it's HQ |

Christistruth00:Dude you just calmly made no point at all the write up shows how Ironsi escaped. Do you think Ironsi would move on the road at that time without being armed? That is one question you can't answer again already Ironsi had been tipped off so definitely his security was tight hence he escaped. Again that Maimalari's guard commander was killed by Ifeajuna's search party and not Captain Oji. This does not explain or show any mischief in Ironsi escaping from the coup plotters. You guys should stop these lies and give it a rest. This stuff is DOA. it is only bitter folks like @deadly truth that would continue in this foolish adventure knowing fully well that there are igbos that know their history and would counter every lies |

Christistruth00:How was it possible that Zik delayed Bassey's promotion when the senior officers in Nigeria from the 50s till 1963 were British? Oga stop spreading lies here |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 1:49pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
christistruth01:Bro as at 1963 the only Nigerian Brigadiers were Ironsi, Ademulegun and Maimalari. Again can you explain how Zik delayed Bassey's promotion when in the 50s It was the British that controlled the Nigerian Army? |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 1:50pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:Ironsi was made GOC in 1964 can you be honest enough to tell us if Bassey was still in the army by then? because as at 1964 Ironsi was the most senior officer in the army followed by Ademulegun and Maimalari last |

obynzo:Zik was in the Ruling Coalition with Balewa How exactly do you think Ironsi became Head of the Army Who chose him Do you know that the British Head of Army General Welby Everad and the British Officers were all sent home before their time after Ojukwu was questioned for Coup plotting? It was Zik that made Balewa Govt end their Contract Prematurely |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 1:55pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:Oga the affairs of the Nigerian army were handled by the British until 1963 with the departure of Major Gen Sir Welby Everald the last British GOC so i ask again how did Zik delay the promotion of Bassey when he was not in control of the Army? |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 1:56pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:You still have not answered my question how did Zik control the army because to the best of my knowledge Ironsi was chosen by Balewa in 1964 so how did Zik delay Bassey's promotion if the Nigerian government didn't assume full control of the army till 1964? |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Christistruth00: 2:08pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
obynzo:It was Zik that presented his own Candidate to Balewa Azikiwe was part of Balewa’s Govt Surely you know that Sir when Azikiwe who was from the Eastern Region and whose Party Controlled it , discovered that Bassey’s Promotions were being delayed what did he do to fight it ? Why didn’t Azikiwe give Bassey the same attention he was giving Ironsi whom Gen Welby Everad had already advised the govt against making head of the Army and against whose advice Azikiwe was still pushing Govt to give the Position After all Wellington Bassey was Ironsi’s Senior What did Zik do about the Calabar Officers Tribulation |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 2:15pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:Oga who now appointed Ironsi as GOC army? you are not making any sense at all. If Bassey's promotion had been delayed there was an ethics board in the army why didn't Bassey stake his claim there? it seems he was just content with where he was and it was not Zik's fault. Again Everald's reason for not recommending Ironsi was because Ironsi had not commanded a Nigerian batallion mind you he was commander of UN forces in the Congo and as such he may not understand the politics in the Nigerian military that was Everald's reason. Quit the lies this is becoming stale there are a lot of people that would quash your lies here |

obynzo:You are speaking rubbish Azikiwe was the Governor General of Nigeria He was part of Balewa’s Govt If not for Azikiwe being in Balewa’s Govt, Ironsi would not have got the Position He was not the best Candidate Gen Welby Everad the last British Head of Army had recommended Gen Ogundipe to Balewa |

| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 2:28pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:You still being so daft and dense. Bro he was recommended doesn't mean he was the best if he was the best how come he couldn't muster troops when Ironsi was assassinated? Ironsi was not even recommended by Zik it was Mbadiwe and Co in the cabinet which Zik suported the nomination and again Sardauna recommended Ademulegun. Also the final say for the choice rested with Balewa so it was Balewa who appointed Ironsi and not Zik. |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Christistruth00: 2:35pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
obynzo:It was because of Azikiwe’s Tribalism that Bassey who was Ironsi’s Senior was abandoned in a Captains posting in Zaria when his Junior Ironsi was leading the Nigerian UN Contingent in the Congo It was absolutely Scandalous !!!! After Ironsi had taken power in a Coup and Ojukwu who was 10 years Bassey’s junior as an Officer was made Governor of the East .Bassey was now given his Promotions which had been deliberately over delayed and became the Commander of the 1st Battalion In Kaduna Which is only commanded by first Class Officers So you see Azikiwe and Ironsi knew all along that Bassey was a first Class Officer It was because he was from Calabar that the had a problem with him Wellington Bassey was not Gen Ironsi or Ojukwus mate in the Army He was by far their Senior Officer On Bassey’s case Azikiwe clearly played the Politics of Tribalism

Christistruth00:Dude you are being half clever and majorly dense here. If Zik delayed Bassey's promotion how do you explain that Ogundipe, Adebayo, Katsina, Madiebo, Effiong(from the same place with Bassey), Etuk and Orok( The first provost master general of the army) were all ahead of him. Definitely it had more to do with his performance and not about where he was from. I know you are paid e-rat paid to incite hatred against igbos and this will become more from your like now that 2023 is coming close and South east is clamoring for the presidency slot. But my advise is stop chasing crumbs from the table by selling your conscience on the altar of lies |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Christistruth00: 2:46pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
obynzo:How do you think Maimailari became a Brigadier General within 10 years of being Commissioned It was Politics The same politics that Azikiwe used to make Ironsi Head of the Army in spite of Gen Welby Everad’s recommendation of Ogundipe |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 2:47pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:That is not my own case here. Maimalari was promoted rapidly because one he was a directly commisioned officer from Sandhurst, Ironsi and others came from the ranks so it was understandable that he would rise faster. |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Christistruth00: 2:54pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
obynzo:So why was Ironsi a Brigadier when Wellington Bassey who was more than three and a half years his Senior Officer still a Lt Col If it was not for Azikiwe favouring his Kinsman Ironsi through Politics After all both Ironsi and Bassey came through the Ranks Do you know that Bassey was a far more Competent Officer than Ironsi according to those who knew them and worked with them Azikiwe didn’t care that Bassey was also from his own Eastern Region How would you feel if you were Wellington Bassey ? |
| Re: Unanswered Questions On Ironsi And The Regional System. by Nobody: 2:57pm On Jan 25, 2022 |
Christistruth00:Dude you just want to spread hate where there is none. First of all you have not answered my question The British controlled the Nigerian army till 1965 so how do explain that the British only promoted three Nigerians as Brigadiers Ademulegun, Maimalari and Ironsi and mind you Ademulegun and Ironsi came through the ranks just as Bassey so if you are attacking ironsi for being a brigadier you should explain why ademulegun also became brigadier too |

obynzo:In Love there is Understanding Understand History from the Truth and not Propaganda How would you feel if you were Wellington Bassey and Ojukwu who is 10 years your Junior Officer is now Promoted to Col at the same time with you by your Army Junior Gen Ironsi ? What kind of Cheating was that Is it any wonder that hardly any Efiks were interested in Ojukwus Biafra. they had seen enough Wellington Bassey was Efik What actions did Azikiwe take when he knew that Officers were being promoted over the head of Wellington Bassey who was from his own Eastern Region and whose interest he was supposed to fight for and protect I have searched and searched all I could find was where Azikiwe Complained to Gen Ironsi that he should not have made Ojukwu Governor of the East ahead of Gen Bassey and five others who were all Senior to Ojukwu , Of Which Bassey was the most Senior
