Both of them are direct. They don't hold up the ball up front, look for a nearby player( that'll skew the final pass) and then make a run. They get the ball and run at the defence with good trickery. Rashford and Shaw got great connection. So also Bissaka and Greenwood. Even Rashford and Bruno. These players can predict their movements.

Cavani is not direct and doesn't do any of those things but his hardwork is one reason I want him up front as Rashford is not in form. Btwn he does the hold up play thing better.

Christibam, you don’t know the meaning of fluidity.

Fluidity is when your system allows nearby players to interchange passes and positions in an unpredicable fashion thereby escaping zonal and man marking traps. Short passes with quick runs and haphazard movements enable fluidity. Go and watch City, prime Barca, etc. Very few players hold the ball for long and make long passes or try to be tricky on the ball, passes become really erratic (within the team) to ensure confusion in the opposition camp.

Rashford and Greenwood won’t give you the above. They are always either running away with the ball or trying to cut and shoot.

Hahaha, but counterattacks make sense when forwards are ready to release ball to players that are unmarked or at advantageous positions. Counterattack is not when you run horizontally like a slowpoke eventually losing the ball because you are tired or a defender caught up with you. You need 3 vs 2 or 4 vs 2 situations for counterattacks not 1 vs 2. Only way the latter would work is if you are a very strong, pacy and fast forward. Is Rashford and/or Greenwood strong?

Lol Rashford is not strong? Rashford is strong and pacy. The kind of strength you're looking for from Rashford, you won't get in most pacy players.

Everything you described up there fits Rashford's profile perfectly. He's ready to release the ball to someone in an advantageous position. He had 15 assists last season FGS. He might take the stupid risks once in a while but he can get better with that. Is that not one of the reasons we have a coach like Ragnick.

Rashford is not strong. No dey whine us abeg. Also, he has always been at the receiving end of counterattacks. He does not always set up counterattacks because he either overshoots the ball or try to take on defenders on his own. Meanwhile, Rashford is 24, you think any manager can help him get better? with his stubbornness, nationality, degree (MBE and PhD) and laziness? Abeg abeg!
