Please stop this.

Okoye is the Number 1. Support him no matter how uncool you are with him in Goal. To be Frank, he hasn't put a foot wrong in this tournament.

what?? he hasn't put a wrong foot forward?? make we take am easy dey cap.

I can count three in this match alone off the top of my head without rewatching.

First, he jumped to catch a ball (not under pressure I must add) and dropped the ball, luckily the Sudan forward wasnt close enough to make us pay.

Second he tried punch out a ball and it dropped right in front of him, luckily it was a green shirt.

Third, when he tried to dive to try an mop up the ball that Omeruo not took out.

Rewatch the match then read the game.

At the initial stage of the game, we were just recycling the ball. True or false?

Why? Because our wingers were double marked which forced them to pass the ball back and continued the recycling. True or false?

What did Eguavoen do? He told the wing backs to push forward to support the wingers and Aribo also drifted towards the wings to add more support? True or false?

What was their aim? To pass in between those tight spaces and at the same time force a fouls or get set pieces closer to the box 18? True or false?

Did they practice for set pieces? Yes! We saw how Ekong kept getting the ball through set pieces which led to both goals. True or false?

This was a well orchestrated game plan from the coach because they envisaged the Sudanese might park the ball and get us through counter attacks.

Recycling the ball is only good when you are leading or you want to settle the game.

You are talking too much and saying nothing of note Egbon. That's why I said e do abeg. You are making a funny case for a Midfield that couldn't string more than five passes together consistently in the first half. Abeg just leave it. You don't understand.

The dragging of Maduka Okoye on Twitter looks like hating to me

They had to wait for him to concede a Pk

Too bad from Nigerians

Let’s not forget Salah is still barren because of Okoye. He looked very composed against Egypt though

It is ridiculous to give Maduka Okoye credit for rendering Salah barren, Ekong, Sanusi and Moses Simon worked so hard to restrict Salah from having a sniff at our goal that the only thing he mustered was a tame shot that hit Maduka's foot so the credit should be given to our defenders not Maduka

Fine but he still kept it together and only conceeded because of Aina's error in the box. Be reminded he was composed against Egypt.

Look, leave the lad alone. The drop in our intensity obviously soiled a few things. Even Omeruo that had a fine understanding with Okoye in the first game was suddenly having a miscommunication outta the blues with same Okoye.

I trust the crew will address this. But for now just support him. He's the Number 1.

Watching now Egypt against Guinea Bissau one thing is very clear, Guinea Bissau better than Sudan not by a lot

They are giving Egypt a strong challenge they are a collection of very tall Iroko Trees very athletic and physical. Egypt are not able to use their technical ability to control the game completely .

It's still 0-0

Maybe Eguavoen should consider being less predictable with his tactics. I mean, i know he has had little time to inculcate different tactics to his team but why keep playing the same damn way even when your opponents have gotten wise to it and have checkmated it?

After that lackluster display for much of the first half, i expected a tactical switch but no. Baba continued with the same old. At this point, Eguavoen tactics have become about as predictable as direction from which the sun will rise tomorrow. How long before he comes up against a decent tactician that will capitalize on this? Sudan nearly did it today. Abeg o

You're looking for trouble! grin

I think Iwobi is better fit in midfield than on the wings. I guess the coach wants to give the Onyekurus and Ejukes a full run in the next game. Otherwise they would have been more suitable alternatives today.
Curtisaxel10:
Chukwueze's quality seems to have diminished badly since he broke onto the spotlight. So has his confidence. Man's now scared as hell to take on defenders. I would've accused the coach of restricting him but how come Simon is doing the exact opposite?

I hope Chukwueze's goal today does something positive for his confidence. In the meantime, Iwobi should start ahead of him on that right wing. Plain and simple.

I am telling you our game plan which worked out perfectly for us today but you are talking about stats.

That's not the problem, I gave him kudos for that singular save in the last match but being without any pressure gives our opponents the confidence to come at him with all they've got.

Okoye didn't exude any modicum of low confidence today. I guess you were miffed he didn't keep a clean sheet. I think he had a decent game. Though he is not the best the country has had between the sticks, he has been growing in techniques and experience.
Barrister026:
I have a question to ask

APART FROM OKOYE don't we have a better Goal keeper?

Abi hu na nor watch the match?

That guy is tensed whenever the opponents attacks.

Even the commentator made mention of it.

If we are going to go far in this tournament.

OKOYE needs to be replaced.

Because if we meet cameron or senegal na Goals we go just dey pack left and right.
Once they penetrate our defense

Why.

Because the goal keeper is still inexperience.

When watch OKOYE in the pitch I see a kid who still needs massive tutoring before putting him as our number 1

I don talk my own.

You all are ignoring.

The day we go collect!!!!

Na that day hu na go start to cry.

Just take a look at the penalty

Dude is the definition of an amateur.

The defense played a huge part. However. He stretched his leg to block Salah’s goal bound shot. Did he look confident in that game?

Ndidi balled hard again today...
Aribo was also amazing, regardless of the few heavy touches that let him down.
Aina, aside the penalty was flawless today..
Nwakali and Iwobi balled well in the second half...
Simon has been free from Rohr's choke! We can now enjoy him..
Ekonh and Omeruo solid as usual..

Apart from Sadiq, everybody on the pitch today had a great game..

The funny thing is that I don't think we played to our full strength today..At times we were too slow ..
I expect Eguavon to start a fresh team against Guinea Bissau on Tuesday...

Ekong stopped sending long balls to the attackers when Nwakali came in.
Nwakali is a deep-lying playmaker. He recycled the balls really well the short duration he was on the pitch and made the team comfortable in attack.
I dream of a day when we'll have all of Nwakali, Chukwueze and Osimhen on the pitch together for the senior team. It happened once in the Olympic team and the result was massive.
Mousup40:
Nwakali seems to have lost his midas touch he once had, the guy was just playing back pass throughout the game, eguavon should let us see onyeka and drop nwakali to the bench,he seems useless going forward
