Assuming that the Swiss born woman will accept the job.

She has marketed Anambra state in tourism, perhaps more than any other Nigerian living.

She knows enough about how to promote tourism (no matter where); how to employ/appoint the right people who know about our culture; how to make the right connections with potential tourist organizations; and harness that knowledge for our benefit.

Those who know our culture are missing most of the important bits needed to promote that culture. When we're busy doing Igbo Amaka abroad, we should also keep in mind to do "Swiss Amaka" in our home too.

Steve Jobs was not a computer scientist, nor even a good engineer or industrial designer. But he knew what he wanted, and how to harness the efforts of those who were good.

I think it’s a good idea if she’s stayed long enough in the state and is married to an indigene and has the experience needed.

Why are the ibos plaqued with low self-esteem such that they seek needless validation from anywhere possible?

Are there no blue blooded, thorough bred Anambra women who can be appointed to serve the state?. Bianca was denied the chance to pick up a ticket to serve just because she was only married to Ojukwu, therefore considered unfit to represent Anambra in any capacity. But a foreign woman with a white skin is hypocritically being mooted as deserving of an appointment to serve over an average Anambra woman who is looked down upon as a slave. Little wonder ibo women are an object of oppression, humiliation and dehumanization in their marital homes.

-Viper

Na your mama and sisters be objects of oppression and humiliation..

Imb*cile, what will you say about black people who hold offices in foreign countries?
Was it not here on nairaland we all saw when an Igbo politician in America was asked to take a break from office for disobeying traffic lights?

Now we have appointed a white woman you will not allow us drink water and drop cup, simply because u're choking in jealousy.

May Ogun kill you and your family!

A daughter of Anambra married to anambra.

From your argument, anambra govt should invite her too to become commissioner of culture then?

First of all: fair Igbo girls are a reality, and are plentiful. Excuse us for marrying the fair girls we have among us.

Second: we already have women commissioners as a matter of fact -not fantasy or wishful thinking (nearly 30% in the current Obiano cabinet are women). We didn't have to wait for onye ocha to give women the appointment.

Third: we're looking for expertise, regardless of its source. If a Swiss woman happens to be the choice for this governor, this term, then so be it.

Shokoloko:

Calm down bro. No need for name calling. You can make a post without gross insults and get your point out

Now in my opinion, I think she should be given the position.
My reasons are these:
1. This lady comes from a wealthy european nation: there is zero incentive to use her position to steal
2: She has successfully portrayed a healthy image of the Igbo nation for many years. If a sweet black Kenyan or Malawian had done this, I would also think they should be nominated for the position
Concerning the aspiration of Nigerian men to marry white women, there is no link to support your position. If there is, please show us the link. However there are links showing that Nigerian men prefer to marry FOREIGN women. Please note that not all foreign women are white. Foreign women can even be Togolese or Ghanaian.
Africans love "whites" more than their own kind.
All ur points hold no water. Tell me one African who was given a position in America or Europe just because he/she was married to a white man or woman.
This is inferiority complex. Admit it.
Africans' problem is that we love white men more than they love us and the love we have for them is not reciprocated.
The same love and inferiority complex made igbo people to keep sending their children to white man's land (obodo oyibo) and they were turned into slaves and treated like animals.
I'm not saying igbos should do the same to them. But we should learn to love our own kind first.
There are Igbos holding big positions (high offices) in the North and South west. How many Hausas and Yorubas holding high positions in the East?
Igbos are not in good terms with almost all tribes in Nigeria. Let them start by strengthening their relationship with their fellow Nigerians, Africans and later they can talk about white men.

Peace!

wink, The hate is based on what we do to each other and how we value ourselves, so i am not surprised, its natural, due to human relations.

If we want to create a more loving and harmonious relationships across ethnic boundaries, we have to treat people well, and it should be natural, and encouraged.

Iseeeeee. Abeg tell am. They mentioned Madam Bianca, but failed to include that Obiano's cabinet is nearly 30% women. We're looking for expertise, and if this Swiss lady has what it takes, then so be it. We have plenty of women commissioners so it doesn't take anything from our women... afterall she is part of our society - in the same way we appreciate our Igbo brethren being appointed abroad.
