A PhD holder identified as Udoh Nse James is currently working as a labourer due to his inability to get a befitting job for someone with his qualifications.

His story was shared on LinkedIn by Engr Chinedu Eche who solicited for help for the man with a PhD in Econometrics, Masters and Bachelors degree in Accounting.

Eche revealed that he came across James at site where he was helping his team with the fabrication of Coastic Soda storage tank for Dangote Refinery.

He shared a photo of the PhD holder, and noted that he should be in an institute of learning or Research.

It could be (which I'm very sure of ) the man himself does not search for a corporate or lecturing job and he's so satisfied working as a labourer in Dangote company.
Also, probably he is on a wages that is more than any other offer from other organization..

I am sure some will almost bite my head off if I say, first class degree holders are bulk counters in banks.
Nothing is guaranteed in Nigeria with your degree.

The fact however is, there is more that we do not know concerning this guy.

One thing I know is, with a bit of aggression, he will get a job that suits his profile. For example, all this polythecnics being converted to UNIs, let him go there with cry, wisdom, prayers et al seeking to see the people that matters.

I think our society needs to begin to see Education as investment and divorce the idea of entitlement when one has a degree. Yes, i agree in developed countries he may not be working as a labourer but that because there is a demand fir his skillset. I graduates with a masters degree in Petroleum Engineering in the US but ended us as a dish washer. To integrate into the corporate career world , i had to pick a skill in demand and dropped my dream of being a petroleum engineer.
Education is an investment and like all investments, it may turn out to either a loss or gain. This is capitalism
