i too i'm of the opinion that casillas was the better in their prime. if i was playing a big game or a cup finals, i definitely would have casillas as my goalie cos that man had glory around him when it comes to big games, no wonder they called him saint. But since casillas isn't among the mentioned by the op, i would have Cech, followed by Buffon and that's only cos i didn't watch Buffon that much in italy until he was past his prime.

You can't say Cech enjoyed a good deal of cover and absolve Buffon knowing fully Italy played football defensively and are more than happy to close out a game 1-nil or max 2-nil, something CR7 complained of. Point is, Buffon had a solid back too and if he were to have played in another team in his prime where emphasis was on attack no one would have known the outcome. Nevertheless Buffon is an all time great and certainly deserves the start, but i can't go wrong with Cech either.

Oga, Buffon is a Legend. Cech is good no doubt but it is an insult to put Cech side by side with him for comparison. Buffon is in the league of Legendary goal keepers like Oliver Khan and Casillas.

In 2006, Buffon came second in the Ballon dor ranking. The closest any goal keeper in the world has ever come to winning the prestigious award.

His saves against France at the 2006 final were just unbelievable. Even Zidane got frustrated after trying to beat him several times with no success.

Van Der Sa Edwin was a late bloomer who was simply ordinary as a young goal keeper. Ofcourse he won the 1995 Champions League with Ajax and other major trophies with Man U but dude had a bad record with keeping clean sheet and ground balls.

Peter Cech Made his name in Nice and came to Chelsea to take the no 1 position from Hilario. Dude never looked backed and broke all goalkeeping records in England with the most clean sheet in Europe. Besides penalty which was never Cech forte, dude was good in up and ground balls. Some might say he was protected by a good Chelsea defence and flopped in Arsenal, but follks forget that Cech was already aged when he moved to Arsenal.

Buffon Gianluigi is a legend in the game but we cannot judge his overall club performance because he spent most of his years in Juventus (besides Lecce and PSG). Buffon won the world cup with Italy all thanks to that great defence mashalled by Cannavaro. Despite his quality and strong Juve defence, Buffon wasn't noted for clean sheets and was below the pecking order when goalkeepers like Casillas, Oliver Kahn, Cech, Van Der Sa and later Neur, De Gea, Courtois and Oblak ruled Europe.

My Choice For me, the best goalkeeper among them is Cech. At their prime, you'll pick Cech before any goalkeeper except maybe Casillas who still had his weakness with up balls. Neur is the other goal keeper you'll choose based on his exploits in his prime for club and country. Neur was a beast in ground, up, and penalty balls. Neur was a complete goalkeeper and become a force at a very young age and still relevant till today.

So I'll start Cech, bench Van Der Sa and sell Buffon.
