Munamoqel: 90% back in 2011? yea u may be right... But this tier 4 study visa has the post-study visa attached to it; which wasn't there back in 2011... (pls correct me, if I'm wrong). The fear of the unknown is our biggest probs as Nigerians. For me, going with whatever number of dependants is the concern of those doing so... So long as it is legal, it shouldnt be a problem. You're gifting ur kids with the best future they could possibly have (when compared to 9ja's). But what we all shd note is that, we shouldn't allow our grades suffer while we hustle to keep up with bills and fees while studying. It's the after-study opportunities that should drive our all our academic and non-academic efforts while we're studying to earn our degrees. If you come out with good grades and get hired... All these financial struggles we're envisaging will never surface... Going there shouldn't be with the feeling of I've arrived, but should come to you with the sense of responsibility of 'there's more to be done for a short while, to accomplish my dreams' Nigerians are not lazy, we just need a land where the government works to unlease our rich potentials... God will crown our efforts with his glory and grace. Cheers. 28 Likes |

Edwosa:the psw visa didn't start today .it was there in 2011 before it was suspended .before the psw there was the Scotland talent visa of 1 year .please go to the other thread and see first hand complains of students with family baggage to deal with .90 percent of current travellers are on budget now with the introduction of the psw the 10 percent baller from nigeria don't really care about psw or greener pastures or psw visa or not .they attend uk Universities irrespective of the cost .we have student from Nigeria paying 6m secondary fees in Nigeria in B.I S lekki they mostly move to the uk to school and don't really care about the psw . 1 Like 1 Share |

Tycoon027: So as applicable to the op, you want her/him to go backdate that she has had legal custody/guardian of the child e.g since Oct 1, 1960 when that was not the case. You clearly don't understand what forgery is nor understand the possible implications of what you advising. 2 Likes |

Munamoqel: I agree with most of your points. The PSW permit is not new, I have few friends in Scotland who benefited from the scheme pre 2011. You are right in saying that majority of them went back as they could not find jobs. That said, i think it's easier for couples to afford the rest of the fees because the dependent can work without restrictions on hours of work allowed unlike the main applicant during term time. Also there are other possibilities to switch visa category for either the student or dependent. Couples who have Kids above school age 5 will cope as little childcare would be needed during term time. The cost of putting children in nursery can be crippling, so I can understand bringing a parent in to help as the savings can go towards school fees. However, single applicants who haven't paid a big chunk of their school fees before enrolment (or have it saved already) will struggle, as 20hrs a week is just going to cover your cost of living. Where will school fees come from? If you happen to have well settled family members in the UK that can help, you may be fine. I have helped a few friends with securing admissions, and I keep preaching that 20hrs will not solve the problem, just being realistic. I have lost track of the number of links friends have sent me to contribute to help students from Nigeria who can't pay their school fees, because of unforseen circumstances. I will advise people coming through the study route to plan properly and do your costings. The last thing you want is to be stranded. Also, PSW fees is high and extortionate combined with health surcharge too. Imagine the cost for a whole family of 4 or 5. The study route is a great opportunity for families and singles alike as approval rates are high, we just have to plan well. Without proper planning, students will start defaulting on their payment to their prospective universities. These universities are obligated to report to UKBA. It is only a matter of time before schools start demanding higher deposits or full payment. We should not ruin it for others. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Joyousgem: Best response so far... this is why I can't risk bringing my kid yet, I can move with my wife. After settlement then come for my kid( only when your guardian is trustworthy; in my case my parents). Moreso, every kid have their own destiny irrespective of whether they were brought up in the western world or not. Majority will still prefer to bring up their child in this country, you can't compare that African mentality of utmost respect parents get from kids here to westerners. In summary, planing is the KEY. Know your budget and decide base on your pocket size..my 2 cent! God will favor us all !!! 4 Likes 1 Share |

Hi guys. I need some clarification pertaining to process about obtaining a dependent visa to the UK and i would also like to know if visa are always granted in such cases whereby the person to be depended on is just going to leave the UK back to Nigeria for the court registry. Hahahaha u never see anything, that is what you get when hope is lost, imagine spending 15 to 20k pounds just to japa, but that is what you get when poverty, ignorance has been weaponized against the people, opportunities marginalized towards a set of people, while the rest are left to faith. If the old are running after failing to do the right thing, is the young you want to stay? You've not seen anything yet o calm down, very soon you go see person dey carry ehn whole community with ehn ancestors, and oracle, even herbalist go dey ask where my own ticket? ... ewo, kai the dream of the average Nigerian is to be born and to run, what a life, all na Glory to God say I don escape, abi na God plan for us now be this bah? It is well... Munamoqel: |

Joyousgem:please just try and understand my points .most people are on a budget so my advice if for them to plan Wella before moving the whole family on a tight budget .like the main applicant use like 3 months then the family join . the entire money your will save will be =to the tution fees paid less cost of living it a perfect system they know what they are up too with all those high visa fees you can't take more than you have contributed to the system . If you pay 14000 pounds as tution at the end of your stay na around that range go dey accounts . Oyinbo na very smart man .afticans na desperate people . |
