I just booked Interview Waiver for Monday 28th Feb. I'm flying in Sunday and hope to leave in 2 weeks. Anyone know how long it typically takes F-1 to get approved?

Visa website says to expect 2 months, but I'm willing to take the risk if it usually happens in way less time.

Thanks

My flight has been pushed to Tuesday, so I will miss my Interview Waiver appointment. Please, guys, how can I reschedule my IW appointment? There's no way to do that on the visa website. I need a guaranteed appointment before I fly out of the US as my visa is expired.

Thanks

Good day everyone.

Please is there anyone who applied to Arts/Humanities on this forum? I've been seeing people in STEM.

Is it that Arts students are absent here?

Please anyone who is into language or Communication should signify.

Thank you.

Hello. Personally I feel there's nothing to worry about. At the right time you'd get an update on your application. You can also call the school to know what's happening.

Thank you so much sir. I really appreciate

Gurus in the house please I need little enlightenment, I applied for Visiting Visa early this year and I have been given appointment date of March 9, during the cause I was also given admission to NEU which I'm waiting for my i-20 so as to start visa processing.
The main question now is can I go for the visiting visa interview and also go for my F1 Visa interview or I should just hold on to one

Worry not much bro. Departments aren't the same and so decision dates shouldn't be the same.

Lol. Kindly be on a phase, Biko!

F1 is advisable.

“ One dilemma people face after admission and/or funding is the issue of choice of school.
I wish to address, to the best of my knowledge, factors that should influence your choice of school.

But before delving deep into intricate details, two primary factors for one to consider any school should be:

1. Admission - you must already be admitted, if not why bother.

2. Funding - if you're unwilling to spend tens of thousands of dollars from your pocket or that of a relative, prioritize a school that: (a) fully funds or (b) partly funds your program over one without any funding.

3. Interests - this can be in two fold. Either a research interests that builds upon your previous background (like a CS graduate wanting a specialization in cyber security) or one you want to delve into (like an Economics graduate wanting an integration of machine learning and Econometrics). The issue is something must have prompted you to put in the effort to apply for a program. Re-weigh your admitted and/or funded options and see if that's what you'll truly enjoy for the next 2 (Masters) or 4-5 (PhD) years.

4. Interest from advisor (only for those who secure one) - if your advisor doesn't seem passionate about you, "forgerrit". The signs are always there but we often ignore them just like we ignore red flags in a relationship and think we'll change that partner. If you have an advisor, that's probably one of, or the single most important determinant of your research progress, mental health and pursuit of your interest while in graduate school. It's often best to seek to schedule a meeting with your advisor after admission and/or funding, if you didn't already have one beforehand. Ask relevant questions about expectations, what you're expected to learn, study plan, style of supervision, etc. You'll get some other information in the process.

5. Current graduate students in the lab - this follows from number 4 and applies only to those already assigned to a lab. Seek to speak or schedule a meeting with one or more of the current graduate students in the lab you're about entering. They are usually the most honest people who would give you reality. Please minimize your excitement and let your head be clear to assess the weight of their statements. They often either talk good things about the advisor (✅) or give bad vibes or even expressly warn you about some things (❌). Ask them about their non-academic activities, and how often they work including weekends. This would help assess if you'll have good work life balance when you enter. Ask about what tools or skills they utilize, and general life there.
Contrary to what many think, graduate school is quite challenging and not the "beans" many Nigerians think it is when they compare to Nigeria's problems. You want to be sure you're making the right choice.

*N.B:* Note that all these points only apply to those with options, not just an option. And while you could also have a single offer that has all the positives, some can have offers that carry red flags.

6. Opportunities for alumni - investigate the trend of post study plans (companies and academia) for recent graduates of your prospective school, especially in your department and/or lab. Where do they tend to go after getting a degree in your discipline? How soon do they land those opportunities (consider nationality and background in this case, as Americans can easily take a 1-year break before work, whereas internationals can't do such due to short visa expiration)? What roles and skills do the companies alumni join hire them for?

7. Proximity to industry of interest - if you're interested in particular industry post studies, then consider schools that are closer to your companies/industry of interest if other conditions are favourable.
Typically, most US major companies are located in California, Seattle, New York and a few others. Of course there are cities in other states that also have target industries. But (ceteris paribus), if you have an offer in a non-industrial Alabama and another in the heart of California, pick the latter if there's no significant difference in ranking.
Note that I purposely have not analysed ranking, as I don't believe it's a major determinant for choice.

8. Ranking - it's important but hardly matters. I'll only say pick an R1 University over an R2 (Carnegie classification of schools) if other relative conditions are manageable. Aside that, weigh other options.

*N.B:* Kindly note that the order of points is not necessarily equivalent to the order of importance in reality.

9. Country of choice - this only applies to those who have secured admission and/or funding to more than one country. Everyone has preferences in terms of "dream country", language preference, culture of the people and State/city in particular, etc. You're free to make a reasonable choice on this if you landed such competing opportunities. But look out for my last point before choosing.

10. Post-graduation plans - this is often the end goal for many. Some have even thought of this before putting in their first application especially in terms of path to green card/permanent residency (PR). I'll probably use a few case studies here.
If you're interested in returning to your home country or moving to yu another country after studies, then you need to factor in the relative recognition of your graduate degree wherever you're moving to. E.g. how well does a UK or US degree bode in Nigeria/Canada?
But if you seek PR:
The US path to such often involves securing a job with a company after graduation that can sponsor your work visa (H-1B visa) that's valid for 3 years. This can be renewed for another 3 years, but often the company would file for your green card during the first 3 years and you can get it a year or more later. If your research is of national interest to the US, and you either have a Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years experience, or a masters degree prefarably from the US, you can self petition for a green card while studying for a PhD. Or do it with the help of a lawyer. Unless you want to go through the marriage route (but don't marry wrong/ break people's heart and spoil our name).
Canada seems to have a more straight forward path to PR after studying there, you can easily check it online. Not sure of UK's path and the rest of Europe.
But be sure your degree is relevant and readily employable where you're studying. The first 7 factors would have provided that information though.”

Please is it possible to pay 2 visa fees and book 2 visa appointments (one in Abuja, the other in Lagos) with 2 different DS-160s (but with same data)?
If one doesn't get favourable dates, is it possible to apply for emergency appointments in both consulates with the different DS 160s after having paid 2 separate visa fees. I hope my question is clear.
No it's not possible

Okay. An applicant wants to apply for visa using two different accounts at two different places?
Well I've not seen or heard of this before but this is as bold as it gets.
Me I just have a question, if this is possible and the applicant gets the dates what will he/she do if the first visa location gets rejected? Will he/she go to the second location with the same data for a second fresh interview?? What is the likely thing that will happen to the applicant?

No one can create two different accounts with similar information so your question doesn't apply
