Good morning Nairalander. I will try to be brief. Last week Thursday, I went to First bank, Ikotun branch to renew my long time expired ATM card. I headed to my shop from there. On my way A customer called me that he had sent additional 20,000 to the previous 150k he sent me. So I decided I will confirm the alert when I get to my shop. The distance from the bank to my shop is about 30 to 45mins. When I got to my shop I decided to confirm the money the customer sent using my firstbank app cause I didn't received the alert yet. Behold, All the money in my bank was gone. Both mine and the money customer sent me. I quickly rush down to the nearest first bank and narrated what happen. I was told to rush down to ikotun branch that the compromise must have come from the bank workers there, since they couldn't pin the compromise on me. (Though they tried to pin it on me. That I must have given away otp or my password. Which I didn't, because I didn't receive any otp neither did I give away my password. And the ATM card was all time in my pocket after I collected it). I rush down to Ikotun branch and I asked why my money was removed after I got an ATM card from them. They first try to pin it on me too. But after they saw that there is no luck in that. They said that there was lien on my account. I asked what is lien? I didn't add or request for any lien on my account. They said I shouldn't worry that my money will be returned by Monday. If I didn't initiated any transaction. Or own any debt. Note: From the way they were responding I could tell something was fishy. But I keep my cool to wait till monday. Yesterday was Monday. I didn't get any alert on my account, So I decided to use the app to confirm if my money was returned. My money was not there, but I now have a debit history that says my money was withdrawn by sportybet through paystack. Well I have no sportybet account so I dont have any reason to initiate a sportybet funding. I urge everyone who has power or connect to help me retrieve my money to please help me. Because I planned on going to create great scene at there head office in Marina. And I won't leave until my Money is returned They caused me problem just because I save with them. I have to beg people for money to feed my family. I lost the trust of the customer that sent the money already. But I need to refund him. And everyone should be careful out there. Our banking system is fuccked through and through. If you've never been in this kinda mess you'd hardly know. I was once in a situation where deductions were made from my account without my authorisation. Today 6,000. Tomorrow 4500. And so on. When I got fed up and complained, the classic line — 'you compromised your details' , came in handy for them. And at best, they promised me an investigation. Investigation that never happened. It was that idiot who issued you the ATM card. He took note of your ATM card's number and the Security (the 3-digit security code behind the card). He must have sent it to his buddy who immediately used the code to deposit/fund their bet account requiring no OTP. Let your husband go with you so he can slap the light out of him. This shows there are lot of thieves and criminals currently working in the banking sector and at different banks not just access or firstbank. There are several small small debit alerts I don't usually understand. This is worrisome. 5 Likes 1 Share |

The only bank I have their ATM is GTB, and I only put money there when I need to pay for any online service. Nigeria bankers now work with criminals, they'll top up sportybet and withdraw via the app... This country is a goner  1 Like |

cpd@cbn.gov.ng, contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng or call +234 7002255226. Customers can lodge a complaint directly on the CBN website via this link. Customers can also choose to write a letter addressed to the director, Consumer Protection Department, Central Business District, Abuja. Whenever you have an issue with the bank and they are telling you to give them time to investigate, it means they are buying time, just write to cbn immediately and see what will happen after that. 2 Likes |

Something like this has happened to me too. but the idiot that perpetrated the crime was actually. the guy that issues you the ATM card The fool saw the wicked side of me that day, My suspicion is on the card guys, they have sold out your details to fraud sters |

I experienced something in the bank back when I went to reapply for a new dollar card. Right when i was taking my seat, the guy that was to attend to me was on a call that lasted for over 5 minutes and I could decipher from his lingua what the conversation will be all about. He was mentioning logs, updated customer list and stuff.. Now this was clearly not a formal call because he was conversing in both English and Pidgin. This was happening at close of work hours , that time when they don't let people in again and only those who had entered earlier will be attended to. It is 80% certain that the guy who issued your card has a hand in this. He has connived with a second party off field 1 Like |

oliy24:Yes! They will listen to u but what u have to do now is to get a lawyer that will help you to write a petition. Believe me, u don't pay to summit your petition at the EFCC. Don`t bother to go to the police because they will compound your woes. |
