Nestle at a price of N1400+ paying N25.5 dividend while DABGCEM at a far lower N260+ price paying N20 which is very close to NESTLE's N25.5.......
What an interesting paradox!

The United States of America just banned purchase of crude oil from Russia. RabbiDoracle's predictions about to be fast tracked.

Interesting times lie ahead and crude oil prices may just hit USD200 in a short time if care is not taken seriously.

But it didnt make much impact on price of crude oil, maybe because it had already been factored in or because of some measures taken by the west to cushion the effects of the ban- including the revival and fast track of the iran nuclear deal.

We simply didn't prepare for the opportunity...
If we don't politicise matters, we take it to ethnic... if not ethnic, we take it to religion... We merry-go-round in an abysmal state.
2023 is the concern now- Not the affairs of the State.

Hi Everyone! It's a sad day for me. I panicked and sold all my Total oil share at 245. I bought it at 262 two weeks ago. Lost over 800,000 today.
I was also tempted to sell NB but somehow got restrained from selling.
NSE no go give me BP.

Damn! Is there a reason for the panic?

From your post it shows you've got no investment strategy in place. If you continue this way the market may look like gambling.

Whether trading or long term you need to do some analysis at least basic fundamentals of any stock you are interested in, that will give you reason to buy, sell or hold.

The first step is to have investment objective
For instance if you are a long term investor there is no need of panic because a stock loss just in one day trade when the fundamentals of that stock is still intact. Most times price movement doesn't bother a long term investor a dip is always an opportunity to buy more if there is cash.
Also understand what real loss/gain and paper loss/gain means.

It's good to listen or read what others say about a stock but as always adviced by good analyst and following best investment practice always do your due diligence.

Don't be in a hurry, you can't make all the money in a twinkling of an eye.

If a stock gain or loss try to understand why this will give you reason to stay, move away or
or enter more.

I remembered a situation where an investor started panicing as he saw a stock lost heavily on a particular day only for him to find out that it was the day the stock was markdown to give effect to the corporate action of the company. The company in question declared dividend and bonus and that drag down the price on that day. If not that knowledge he could develop high BP for nothing.

Getting to understand what you are into could also help. Try and understand basic operations and behavior of the market.

Then keep this in mind
Rule No. 1 don't lose money
Rule No. 2 don't forget rule No. 1
- Warren Buffet.

At the onset of Covid pandemic, people were cheering health workers as the hero and clapping at balconies every night.

At the end of the event, the health workers were being blamed for everything.

At the onset of Russia - Ukraine war, people are cheering one side and demonising the other side.

Let's wait for the end of this event. grin

It is not just that, reports from media outlets (totally dominated by d west) are so biased in favour of Ukraine. It is a one sided story.

I have been looking for non-west-controlled sources to no avail. So much info filtering, it is a shame.

At a point, media showed footages from video games and merged them with old video clips of bombings in other places years back.

Meanwhile, global commodity prices are going haywire to the point there there is regulatory closures on trading commodities.

On Monday, trading on Wheat futures were cancelled. Yesterday trading on Nickel futures were cancelled after Nickel gained 170% in 2 days.

Emerging markets will fly like never before.

Dividend released so far:
*Yield as dividend over last closing price

*Growth computed from March, 2020 (as far as my data goes)

*Regarding Seplat, used $1 to #420

Very logical.
I want to also add the many sanctions that the "West" is imposing on Russia will affect all parties involved (infact everyone).

It is not like the "West" was gifting Russia their monies, it was a fùcking exchange of needed resources by both parties.

You also need to consider companies like Zenith, GTB, Wapco, Seplat etc that paid interim dividends.

Dividend yield of Lafarge should be about 8% or thereabout

I simply found d percentage change of closing price from my first data point to current price(as at yesterday).

it will be a 15 year project or more ....in Nigeria they mix politics with business. There are many factors to think through before embarking on a huge project like that.
