I just published an article with the title:

"BETWEEN UKRAINE, RUSSIA AND THE NSE"

https://www.booksie.com/668849-between-ukraine-russia-and-the-nse

A extensive look at how the recent RUSSIA-UKRAINE crisis might impact on certain select assets in the Nigerian stock exchange.
...making sense of the tiny details between top-down impact and current bottom-up stand of the companies involved with a view to seeking VALUE!

It's published on booksie, the U.K blog, medium and the personal finance section of some select Nigerian dailies.
You may wish to read through by using the link above.

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2022/03/13/palm-oil-boom-nigeria-losing-multibillion-dollars-for-not-supporting-small-farmers/

"The Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN) has raised the alarm that Nigeria is losing billions of dollars over inability of its smallholders, constituting 80 per cent of the market getting funding and organised to gain from the current palm oil boom in the international market.

OPGAN President, Mr. Joe Onyiuke, who spoke to THISDAY at the weekend on the heels of recent surge in the price of crude palm oil at the international market, however acknowledged effort of the CBN in providing support to the players in the upper echelon of the industry, which only control 20 per cent of the domestic market.

While appealing to the apex bank and other relevant authorities to support the smallholder farmers to boost production, he pointed out that, “The government of President Buhari has done a lot for other smallholder farmers, but unfortunately, we, the smallholder farmers in oil palm have been neglected despite the huge supply gap in the country.”

Recently, Reuters reported that Palm oil had become the costliest among the four major edible oils for the first time as buyers rush to secure replacements for sunflower oil shipments from the top exporting Black Sea region that were disrupted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Crude palm oil (CPO) is being offered at about $1,925 a tonne, including cost, insurance and freight (CIF), in India for March shipments, compared with $1,865 for crude soybean oil."

More money "in the bag" for the likes of PRESCO and OKOMU OIL PALM.

I expect a 31-43.7% uptick in NPM, CCC and CGPR (very conservative risk-discounted estimate... YE 2022 in view) backed by favourable policies from the domestic front and higher fx revaluation gain from increased export demand.

It is well.

Elsewhere, I have just added @ CADBURY Plc and @ ELLAH LAKES Plc to the list above. (possible candidates for a merger/acquisition or possible buy out/MTO in view)

I suspect that at least 3 other companies on the list above could also follow through... on or before the end of next year. (the 2 companies above inclusive)

2 coys from the list are already in line to be fulfilled.
Might be helpful to keep an eye on these coys.

Selah

A line of disclosure...

I think that @ ELLAH LAKES is been neglected.
A cursory look at that company, and I can see a coy with the capacity to be a 3rd player in the oil palm sector... possibly competing for a 5-8.1% mkt share.

Sure there's some great measure of potential.
Also note the post above.

So ELLAH LAKES has just gotten a BUY/OUTPERFORM rating from my end following further analysis.

Assuming I factor in a possible passthrough volatility including but not limited to the near term impact of stunted growth and administrative bottlenecks the company has experienced in the last few yrs leading up to Q3, 2021, assume zero growth btw Sep-Dec, 2021 and attach a further risk premium net of inflation, my FVE pegs @ N8.11.
And we'll, your guess is as good as mine when you compare the coys CMP of N3.12 against that FVE. (ref: >159% discount in view)

Only problem is with the seeming illiquid nature of the stock... with just about 439.6M shares as free float from the approx 2B unit of OS.

It is well.

How will the hike in interest rates affect various asset classes? How can I construct my portfolio to profit from it?

These and more are answered in our chat with Mr Ayodeji Ebo (Head, Retail investment, Chapel Hill Denham).

Some folks are probably underestimating the potential in this company.

Hear this...
There is in fact, a HUGE POTENTIAL in ELLAH LAKES!

Let me give one hint...

For a coy to improve on it's EM, CCC, AER, CGPR, better utilize it's EFIR and grow shareholders fund by over 71.3% to >N7.12B in a space of just 1 yr, you know that something great is in there!

There is a lot to say, but let me just comment my reserve. wink cheesy cool

Enough said.

Boss which ELLAH LAKES are you talking about, is it the one that released latest H1 results with negatives earnings, negative retained earnings, negative net cash flows from operations activities, decrease in shareholders fund, negative free cash, no any improvement in CGPR, the EFIR appears to be in positive when it should be negative..

I haven't check in detail because I see this not worth my time at the moment...

Not a stone bro, you know Loco identify this stock few weeks ago and i didn't comment because he is known to be a trader but I don't know you as one, I will like to learn what you see in ELLAH LAKE that make the stock HUGE POTENTIAL...

Yes, it's the same ELLAH LAKES you know.

And yes you are right about the negative earnings/NPM, retained earnings and OCF, but the other lines you mentioned have witnessed appreciable growth.

Shareholders fund for instance, grew by over 71.3% to >N7.12B in a space of just 1 yr. (btw, YE, 2020-21)... CGPR and EFIR also came up in good light if you know what I mean.

As I've always said here, earnings does not always tell the "whole story". ...if it did, NEIMETH, DIAMOND BANK, UACN and WAPCO wouldn't have been perceived to be value accretive @ 38k, N1, N5 and N9 respectively... and the likes of GSK and INTEBREW will not be deemed valuable @ their CMPs now.
A collection of several key determinants is needed to better interpret the value accretive potential of a coy. (risk-reward drive in view)
The question to ask should always be; is there a potential to make money in the coy?

I will strongly suggest you take out some time to study the company's financial print from H1, 2019 to YE, 2021.

There is also a probability that the coy could be acquired (MTO in view)... in which case they'll buy out the current minority holders, of course, paying a great premium.
Pls kindly refer to my previous post on the coy should you require further guidance.

Look well... there's an opportunity in that coy.
Regards bro.

Analysts foresee possibilities of banks, especially the Tier 2 and Tier 3 shoring up their capital base in 2022 by opting for various means of doing this.......merger/acquisition/new investors....etc.

@Onegentleguy mentioned something like this in one of his analysis as well......

Bros, seems you're a billionaire .......nah everything recommended you dey buy? shocked

........and to say that you always dash NSE money self .......e be like say I go need some loan from you oooo. tongue

Think it will be better you just pump your money on sound fundamental stocks and be collecting dividends yearly..........while you retain small portion, say 10% or 5% (depending on your pocket) of total fund for JIJO biz, this way, you'll limit the extent of jumping around in all stocks.
It's also good to always ask questions if you're not very sound in carrying out due diligence.......

One of the issues with Ellah Lakes is illiquidity. Sometimes ago, the directors holding unto it were told to release some for free float but I don't think it was followed thru by SEC or they're not mandated to relinquish some shares.......not very sure again.

If you must jump around as a newbie maybe, try and be buying fundamental ones at least.......with this you can convert to medium/long term if it's not meeting up with the target..........just my humble opinion anyway.
