Thanks. Ours was family ties, but honestly I don't know how else to prove family ties because we had declared family members (aged parents and siblings), properties, employment letter and leave letter. Right now, waiting for GCms note before we can proceed.

There is an option for 'apply for a visitor visa for myself and on behalf of someone else'.

My VV was also refused sometimes in February based on family ties. I ordered for my GCMS notes and it arrived last week. The VO quote that “PA has strong family ties in Canada” and I am refusing the application based on this.

This seems to be the shortest GCMS notes I have seen. I was disappointed! Thank God I took to @mzjanez01 advise to reapply without waiting for the GCMS notes.

Is your course a one or two year program? Mine is one year and my study permit is fast approaching expiration.

Sis, I think we are in the same shoes. I'm also taking a one-year program that will expire in April. my hubby applied for SOWP in April last year no update to date. He applied for visiting visa on December 27th he was rejected on Feb 2nd "based on the purpose of your visit", I'm still waiting for the GCMS note. When I consulted a few immigration lawyers and also my college's immigration department, they told me to apply for a study permit extension asap so my hubby can notify IRCC with my updated LOA, if not my hubby's SOWP will also be rejected. If the SP permit is less than 6 months spouse's SOWP or VV won't be considered. 1 yr study is not advisable during this covid period.

Please state his obligations to his parents that are sensitive and strong enough to bring him back to Nigeria. In my case I stated that my husband takes my father inlaw on his routine medical check up. Luckily I was able to attach a picture of my husband's last visit and I claimed the picture was taken during his last medical routine checkup. I also claimed my husband is the only son and culture demands he takes care of his aged parents especially now that mother-inlaw is late, father inlaw is emotionally and financially dependent on my husband. If you can reach out I can help more. I addressed everything without a Gcms note. From my count I gave like 9 hometies which I believe were sufficient enough to counter his lack of travel history and having his whole family in Canada

It was a foolish mistake made out of my naivety. I came to Canada with a wrong enrolment letter(graduation date as April instead of August), I was given till July 31st on my study permit.
Anyway, I have gotten the correct enrolment letter and have applied for extension.

I am not sure it will come before the webform i intend to raise is reviewed, though i will put it up that i applied for extension.

What about dual intent or application?
I have read some write ups on these severally but none has so far made meaning to me

If I submitted an sowp and may be a visitor's visa on the same day or a short time difference like two weeks, could that be terned as dual application or intent?
I need explanations pls.....What happens if one of the request is eventually withdrawn

I will advise that you apply for visitor visa for all of them (I believe your initial application was submitted before September 7).

With that, they can travel together. You just need to explain in your LOE.

I'd suggest you do not withdraw the SOWP that is in progress already. However, you can reapply for VV for all of them. Their previous VV will be withdrawn. All the best!

Multiple application is 'often' used for same type of visa application; e.g. two visitor visa applications.

One can apply for work permit and still apply for visitor visa and vice versa (depends on circumstance). Ordinarily, work permit application from Nigeria includes a TRV application (more or less like a visitor visa).

Due to long processing times of SOWP, one can submit a visitor visa application after a while (of course, a VO's discretion and applicant's peculiarity may come into play).

Ideally, SOWP will not be asked to be withdrawn if a visitor visa is issued.
