In 2016 I applied for a US tourist visa (B1) to go for Church Conference but I was denied, but the visa officer didn't stamp anything on my Passport, she just only wrote on a slip, that I should reapply in 3months.
My question is why didn't she stamp on the passport, I thought every rejection will be indicated on the passport. Also hope this will not affect me since I am about to reapply.
.

Your passport is not stamped at a refusal. So don't fret about that. They have it in their records and it will show at subsequent interviews on their screen.

Religious visa is for a person in a religious group going to work (mid-long term) in the branch of that group or another religious group performing the same functions he or she performs in the home country.
You have to demonstrate you are a core member and you already perform the core functions you are going there to perform.
The religious body must also confirm you are coming to join them and they are responsible for maintaining a paid employment with you.

Most things outside this won't qualify for the religious visa.

Also at the 2016, an error was made on my Passport Birth Year, I used it to go the embassy that way because of the urgency. But now I want to reapply I am thinking if I should continue with it or rectified the birth year. But if I am to change it to the real one, won't they already have the previous one that I used in 2016 in their system, will that not be an issue. Also that time I haven't done my birth certificate,(the one from National Population Commission), So should I just do the birth certificate to tally with age already in their system and proceed with the previous passport. Or do the birth certificate with my real birthday year, than change it on the passport also. Then when I get to the embassy if the birth issue comes up , I can show them the birth certificate as prove that the previous one was an error and has been rectified in the new passport.

Finally, please if one is travelling as a clerygy for a Church Leadership conference, is it the B1 visa or R- Visa that one should apply for?

Please I really would appreciate answers to this questions. Thank you so much.

How are you able to apply for a passport without your birth certificate? shocked

Hello Nairalanders, good morning to you all. For those wondering why their IW application status is showing 'application received' after weeks of submission, I am in the same boat but received the following message from USvisaNGA, 'DHL is experiencing technical issues preventing applicants from receiving notifications when their passports are ready for pickup. Check email for more details'. There is nothing in my mail yet but it looks like they are having some technical issues.

I guess we should all chill.amd wait it out.

@dampops You were very correct. I was advised to book an in-person interview which I just did, but in another post (Berlin) as there are no dates at all at Frankfurt post. Do I have to fill another DS160 or stick to the old one I had submitted at Frankfurt that was returned? Please advise.

Dampops:
I’ve not heard anyone without the option of a follow up appointment so far…

Noted thanks but should that not apply to only those that have been issued/ refused but yet to receive notification for pick up .

There are a few steps before pick up or does DHL notification affect when case is updated. Just wondering .

I don’t think you need to fill another DS160 as the earlier decision was based on your current DS160 form. Just print and go with the confirmation page…and any other required documents since this is a physical interview…

Best of luck

It depends…

The usual progression is from “application received” to “administrative processing” and then “refused” or “issued”…however, if the issue they have with an application is fundamental e.g. no biometric on record, old passport photograph etc…you may likely see “refused” immediately after “application received”

Is this progression likely to be either refused or issued immediately or changed to application received, administrative process and then issued/ refused even after the biometrics or passport photographs drop off.

I am asking because my hubby dropped his passport photo at DHL on the 5th of April and when he checked yesterday he saw refused and case was last updated 5th of April

Was he initially refused before he dropped his passport photograph? Was he asked to send his passport photo?
I doubt if the embassy will receive and update case same day so perhaps it's a system error ..just be patient til he gets his passport to see if there is any slip for a follow up interview.

You didn't give the full progression of your husband's application...
Was he initially refused, and then asked (via 221g) to submit a recent passport photograph?

If that's the case, the status will change from 'refused' to 'administrative processing' once they receive the outstanding item...and then it'll change to 'issued' later...

Good evening, please for those on IW appointments in Abuja, it appears IW documents drop off is not at the Abuja Embassy but at the DHL office?

Nope it's at DHL, I heard it's at Zone 3, Wuse, Abuja. I was there this morning.

Good morning Guys!

I was at the Embassy this morning and got a refusal. It was a pretty straightforward interview.

VO: Passport Please

Me: Hands him my Passport

VO: What are you going to do in the US?

Me: Business, I explained further

VO: Several clicks on the keyboard, sorry according to section b214 you're not eligible to be giving a US Visa at this time.

Hands over a green paper which reads that I could reapply at anytime.

My disappointment is the fact that the man didn't even check my documents neither did he try to ask me relevant questions about the said business.

I have a registered company in the US with Employer Identification Number (EIN).

Good morning, so i was at the Lagos embassy this morning for a follow up interview after the interview waiver. They kept us waiting and started at 7:30am on the dot

Thankfully i was approved.

So many blue paper flying around. An aged woman that had overstayed was given a 10year ban as her only reason for overstaying was covid. the VO kept asking her why did she not apply for extension before her 6months stay expired but started begging as she could not explain beyond the covid reason.

Only two people were approved before me. An old man then a family going for medical for their child. Another lady was placed on Administrative processing as the VO said they will send her an email.

I had my 3kids in the US previously and went with all my receipts but i was not asked for any document. The consular just asked basic questions like how many times i had previously visited the US, details about my last visit, duration of my last visit and details about my job and my husbands job.

She also asked me how long i intended to stay in this visit and i told her i was not sure yet as travel plans are yet to be made.

I had previously applied with my husband and his was renewed without an interview.

wishing everyone applying a successful outcome

I don't really understand what follow up really means, but I applied for the normal B1/B2 visa last June and my date was today

I am not at all sad about the outcome of the interview though, just a little bit disappointed because this might obviously affect my tax payment that is due this April,15.

But it's all good.

When is the best time to get an earlier date for April. My emergency was approved but May is the next available.

I need April

Thanks for your replies

Congrats to you on both wins! have you been able to get any answers wit regards to the Covid laws?
I read that from April, once you are fully vaccinated, you can travel but I need to know who has travelled and what the process was. I'm equally travelling in may.

Good morning house, thanks everyone for all the insights. I got my B1/B2 renewed last week and thankfully the green card petition my brother did for me 8 years ago was approved on Tuesday and has been sent to DOS for further processing. Please who has an idea of the duration of the process at NVC? Secondly, I am planning a trip in may, what is the covid requirment? Is it still negative PCR test or vaccination? Thanks again for a prompt response

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Lordkross(m): 1:47pm On Apr 07, 2022
So guys here's the kicker. A guy tailed me from the Embassy to my office (about 7 mins walk from the Embassy).

Note that when leaving the Embassy I told them I was successful, just to not make anybody feel uneasy with their interview, after all we all may never see each other again.

Just as I was about to enter my office premises the guy met me and greeted me.

"Good morning sir" I noticed your application was denied, we can help you reverse it."

I was shocked so I asked a few questions - to sum the whole story he told me I needed to pay another MRV and update my profile and leave the rest for them.

He also guaranteed me that I didn't need to pay any money until the Visa is out in 5 - 10 days.

Points to Note: I think the Embassy is deliberately denying qualified applicants Visas, after which they'll send some of their emissaries to try to convince you about the possibility of reversing their own decision(s).

The guy told me to pay for the new MRV and 1M to the consular and then 100k to him for his trouble.

There are other things I can't state here though because I don't know who is who, but today, I see clearly why people tell lies when they're going for any class of Visa - when does telling the truth ever helps anybody?

Ask yourself how a whole American Embassy go come out to admit that their interview systems had been hijacked by Visa Agents.

Omo, everybody dey corrupt for this country sha!
