Hello gurus! Kindly help with the following questions;

1. I'm about to make payment for F1 and F2 Visa using GT mobile app. Will it generate same receipt it would have generated if I had gone to the bank?

2. Are there known issues arising from using the app for such payment?

3. Under School category, it shows only F (not F1 or F2) seems both are classified as same... Does this mean that I'll make payments separately?

Thanks a bunch in anticipation of your answer

Since the VO was kind enough to tell you that the issue was one of weak home ties, why are you still insistent in your belief that the problem was one of funding?

To be fair, that's what they say all the time. Everything ties back to home ties since it is a non-immigrant visa. Lack of funding or a question on affordability means you're willing to risk it all to go to school, hence weak home ties. Same with other reasons.

My advice is he/she should recall the exact line by line of the interview and get someone to review it for them.

mojolajesu:

After proper evaluation, I figured that the issue isn’t home ties. Reason because there are usually 4 home ties you could use. Professional, Marriage, Business and properties.

I use professional. I work with a Microsoft Partner here in Nigeria in line with my intended course of study.

The point is that, The VO figured that since I am on a loan, I will be tied in the US to repay the loan before coming back. That means I haven’t provided sufficient reason to come back after school.

If I have full funding, I can prove to the VO that I don’t have anything to do in the US once I am done with my studies then come back to my company to pick a managerial role based on my new degree.

I hope this helps.

Spot on. You know what you're doing. Get the loan bit out of the way and try again, but be on top of your game this time. Good luck

Hello, Good evening everyone, this is a bit urgent please.

I've read a lot of rejections at the visa interview due to being unemployed and not having enough reason to come back to Nigeria. Actually my dad has a family business which he has been running for years. I do work there sometimes. We actually work with a lot of big companies in lagos. I'm thinking if filling out that I'm employed in my family's company in my DS form and also presenting my Company's ID card at the interview just in case.. this will proof that I'm employed and I have enough reason to come home and manage the family business along with my dad.

Is this a good idea ?

My advice is that you go big on the employee angle (show you're doing really well as a middle-class person.) and you're a top manager in the company. You can also emphasize that the company is your Dad's and that you have a place in your family business, but it must be presented correctly. If you show too much that the company is your family's, they might just think you're using the business as a front to japa.

I'm assuming you're fully funded by the school. If not, don't take my advice pls

Here is my plan, i made use of bank statement for my i -20 so that i things can be easy at least at the embassy but my plan is to get USA and make use of Mpower loan for my school fees and accommodation. so my question is

1) Can i update my I-20 immediately after i get VISA even before getting on the plane to the USA so i can use it for my accommodation and fee.

2) When is it advisable to use the Mpower loan as i already have my final approval letter.

Please don't update your I-20 until you enter the US. There shouldn't be inconsistencies when they check it at the port of entry.

Hi guys,

Please I would want your candid advice.
I have gotten my 1-20 form for I and my wife, Fall 2022 session. Please what is the chance of getting a F-1 and F-2 visa with 3k scholarship &
bulk of funds coming from a sponsor (relative) who resides in the US and an opportunity to get GTA if visa is granted.

Those who have gone through this route successfully, planning to or any other person. Your advice will really go a long way. Thanks

A relative (maybe Uncle/aunt not even biological parent) who resides in the US wanting to sponsor you and your wife? c'mon now. Don't go that route, please. More than half of parents in the US send their kids to get school loans to study. No relative is doing that for you. Don't risk it.

If I were you, I'd go alone first, using that relative as sponsor (still dangerous by the way), then let wife come after a semester or two.

My previous F1 transcript in Abuja on Dec 1st, 2021
First F1 attempt.
3 previous B1/B2 denial in Lagos alone
1 previous B1/B2 denial in Lagos with 2 children and wife in 2018.
Now Associate Degree programe in Web Development

There were 3 Consular Officers on desk, two men and a woman at the middle desk. I have been praying to meet the woman cos I observed she is calm and reasonable with applicants, she gave a young couple that even the wife's pregnancy is so glaring a visa with smiles and wish them safe journey to US but denied the next applicant she interviewed, yet I wish I met her but I was called in another window.

To the interview ....

Me: Good morning, happy new month
VO: Good morning, I can see you are going to MCCC, how do you find out about the school
Me: From online, from my research online
VO: What course are you going for
Me: Web Development
VO: Have you travelled out of Nigeria before
Me: Yes I have been to Ghana
VO: What do you do
Me: I have an internet cafe where I do online registrations, printings and lots more
VO: How is your work related to Web Development
Me: (Without confidence and lowered voice this time) I have websites which I operates but there are some difficulties I'm facing which google always give me reports to debug but I could not so I want to go for Web Development to be able to rectify the issues.
VO: Sorry you are not qualify for F1 visa now.

I was so weak and heavy to even talk to anybody, people that are outside waiting to be called in can also read my feelings. It was after my interview that one of my friends now hint me about Nairaland.
I am available for corrections please.

Yes, you're right. Your answers were very weak.
"How did you find out about the school?:
Through a former research associate of mine. We met last year through a research conference during the pandemic, and his professor liked my work etc Always go hard on the research angle, always.
"What do you do?"
Software Utility Manager. anything "online" is a red flag, printings, registrations are ordinary words. Thumbs down

You have been denied countless times before. You should know better than to rush down to the embassy for your F1 interview without preparing like your life depended on it.

Good day all...

I'm planning to fill my DS 160 and proceed for interview soon. I heard that it's a red light (minus) if an F1 Visa applicant has a relative in the US.
I have a brother (Pastor) in the US who is a citizen (Same father, different mother).

Pls advise me on how to declare this in the form and to the VO at the interview (if asked)...

Thank you.

Declare it in the form, don't falsify facts. It helps if your school is not in the same state as said brother. I hope he's not your sponsor lol. You don't need to emphasize different mother, doesn't matter.

Just say you guys talk once in a blue moon. Don't portray to know too much about him, might give up vibes that you're going to live with him and immigrate. All the best.

hii please I got admission into a Ph.D. program in Houston. I got my master's degree from the same school back in 2014 and I have been able to visit my siblings using a visitors visa. However, I want to go back now with my family: my husband and two kids aged 3 and 7 months. what visa type should I get for my husband. My dad is the sponsor so money isn't the problem but I don't know the best visa status he should apply with...

Your dad is sponsoring you. Going alone first might be best, but since you've already studied in H town and returned, they'd believe you this time. I think the main issue is that someone else will sponsor a family abroad. What will your husband be doing? Make sure you have a detailed plan for the kids and your hubby, with accurate cost of living numbers. Since you already lived in Houston before.

Hello guys, I got admission for Fall 2022 and my university wants me to submit the I-20 application form before 1st May.
On my I-20 form, I am required to list all dependents that will travel with me.

The thing is that my husband is staying back with me but my child will be traveling with me just that the child is not yet born.
I am currently pregnant and will be due in May.

Can the I-20 form be submitted without listing any dependent and applying later when the child is born?
Will listing a dependent on the DS-160 affect my chance of visa approval?

Please what should I do in this case?

Graduate school as a new mother is arguably the hardest thing on this planet. The VO might deny you as a favor to you. Like others said, don't risk it, defer to Spring.

Hello guys, goodevening. Please I have something that is of a very big concern to me. My aunty who is my sole sponsor lives in the same state as my school, and I have no funding at all. do I have any chance at all?
Are there people who have similar case as mine that has ever gotten lucky? @moshkom and other gurus in the house please help a sister, I am so confused, I dont know what to do.

Don't. Risk. It. Too many red flags. Since your aunt will sponsor you, why don't you get admission into another school in a faraway state? it should be easy. Also, I hope your aunt is doing a prestigious occupation, and she's not married, because why else will she be pouring her hard-earned money into you. Even average Americans don't sponsor their kids to college, they push them to get loans.

My question is: I saw something about submitting a health background form(download fill etc) I want to know how to go about it - do I print the form and give to a health practitioner to fill? Without showing proof of taking those vaccines(measles and co vaccines)? (Aside Covid-19 cert of course)

- Also as POF I should submit the admission letter right? If yes - the part where the sponsor is meant to sign on the financial form do I leave that blank?

Any other advice please bring it on. Thanks

Except University of Alabama grin that school gave lots of admission for fall 2022 without funding for PhD. Lol

I have a graduate research assistantship in a top school in my field, top 10 in the US, to earn a MSc degree, but I already have MSc in similar course, my advisor insisted I apply for MSc as against the PhD I intended to apply, his reason is that he wants me in his team but the grant he currently have can't sustain a PhD program. He promised to fund my PhD after my MSc or recommend me to another Lab if he couldn't get a grant for my PhD. I have tried other schools but couldn't secure funding.

I need an insight on how I can convince the VO during my visa interview. Your advise would be highly appreciated, pls help a brother.
