They do issue but that discretion has been very limited and the slots per day reduced to the minimum. You will have to give the VO a different story from what he has been hearing all morning or UV have got extensive travel history to first world countries. Something out of the ordinary. From what I have heard, they even give virgin passport. There's no formula to how they give nowadays. So it's boils down to ur reason, story, travel history, ties with ur home country (marriage, work, investments) and God.

Already 80% of the decision lies in what u filled in the form. The remaining 20% is from ur interview. So when ur coming up face to face with the VO, he/she already knows whether to (1) issue u the visa wch means u scored well with ur application this he/she asking questions to confirm what's in ur application (2) not sure whether to issue or not which means u were scored average/good on ur application and depending on what physical assessment of u he/she is seeing in front of him/her will ask extensive questions to try to justify why he will issue the visa, if in that case, ur answers don't convince him/her they won't issue the visa. If u give satisfactory answers to cover the grey areas and turn them into green, ur home and dry and ur visa will be issue (3) u scored low or there are quite a lot of red flags on ur application coupled with the fact that their physical assessment (appearance, mode of dressing, beauty (pls this counts if u are but depending on the VO), temperament, body movement, consistent tone of speech (this is key)) of u is average, that visa refusal sure pass. This is when the type and ask u simple questions just to pass time as they are typing ur refusal on ur case note. Questions like what's of ur date of birth, where are u going to etc.Questions they might have asked before.

There are 3 basic fields they consider to issue u a visa (1) Travel History (2) Ties with Home country (marriage, dependants, investment/financial standing) (3) Ur personal circumstances (business, employment/work or school). U must be good in two of these fields for u to be considered for visa issuance. Any combination of two is fine. The only time they can try to consider one is with Travel history and that's because it's extensive and can give them a clue about who u are independently but rare.

Just fill ur application and don't prevaricate the truth. Telling the truth brings about another truth but the reverse is worse.

Ur friend applying three times shows desperation that's why he was refused.

Wish u the best

Lifeisgoody:
I dont think US still issue a visiting visa. A colleague have tried 2 times and even denied again the 3rd time. Although in Lagos.
Any helpful information or advice is welcome.

I dropped off my passport at DHL Abuja on 12th of April. It was issued on 14th April and I got collection mail same day. I picked up 19th being today due to the long weekend. I would advise those doing drop off and even pick up to get there before 6.am. Just get there and write your name and pick your number then you can go shower and return. Time slot does not count during during drop off as it is done by first come, first served as long as your appointment is that day. They usually start drop off by 7.15 and pick up by 8.am

Hello Dear,

Below is a link in regards to travel to the USA

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/proof-of-vaccination.html

OGFX:
Good day my wonderful people

Please i have a question to ask you all

Firstly, what can one do in respect of the 2 weeks COVID vaccination requirement before a travel date.
Calculating my intended date of departure, I wont meet the required 14 days because i haven't done my COVID vaccination.
A friend told me to take the Johnson single dose today which i intend to but I want to know first if there is anything or idea on how to avoid this 14 days deadline.

Secondly, what are the chances of someone going on a business visa to invest a lot of money on a project (music video project) for 2 weeks duration? A Friend said its 50-50 still while another opined that the chances are high because of the investment & tax to be profited but I need your contribution from experience.

Thank you all Nairalanders

My questions are below please.

Going for Vacation is it not a valid reason?

You are sponsoring your trip yourself, is it not a valid reason?

Returning back to your work place, and to your children and husband is it not a valid reason?

What other valid reason again.

Thanks

Good evening everyone. I don’t know if anyone got this mail after interview. My sister did her interview since December. She went with her husband, this will be their second visa. The 1st visa she declared at the interview that she was going for birth and she was 5month pregnant when she got the visa. And she went with all her doctors appointment and all of that. She got the 1st visa without stress with her husband. That was in 2018. Fast forward to 2021 when they went for interview. Her husband was granted visa instantly without any single questions. But her own visa has been placed on hold since December till date. She filled the form and sent to them since January 4th, but still no update. She even sent them mail again. (Dear xxxxxxx:

We write to inform you that you are required to open the attached form DS-5535 and fill in the required details, and then email it back to LagosNIV@state.gov . It must be in an ELECTRONIC FORM (WORD DOC). PDF is not acceptable.

Except something specific happened during her travel, I think they are just trying to compare the information u gave in Ur application to a redflagged
Information in another database. From the form u mentioned was sent, it means they needed more information to do more comparative analysis as the initial one was inconclusive.

The questions asked on the form as to do with Ur family history, travel history, work history, family tree, social media handles and contact information.

Should be nothing really of all is above board. My guess is that the agency or parastatal that is reporting back the result hasn't done so yet, hence the delay.

So don't worry I doubt it has to do with the birthing. If there was something definite, they would have denied u on interview day but they chose to do a thorough job.

I filled a new form. If your DS160 firm was filled more than 6 months to your interviewdate, you have to fill a new one. However, if you use your old application number to log in, you will see a fill a new form option (or something like that) that allows most of your answers on your previous application to auto complete on your new application.

Please did you fill the new form before you got a date-for or you filled after you got a date.it was after l booked the date, that I got a mail about updating the form. The concern I have now is that the code on the ds160 form is we used to book the date, so if I fill new form will it affect the appointment.

Hello Everyone,

My mom was denied a B1B2 Visa around May 2021. In March, when the interview waiver program started at the US embassy Lagos, she received an email to check if she qualifies, and a link to apply for Dropbox if she qualifies. However, due to one of the criteria being that if you have been refused a visa during your last visa interview, you don't qualify, she couldn't apply.
But then, Abuja started their Dropbox and that particular criterion was not listed under their qualification questioneer. My fear now is I don't know if Lagos has updated their criteria as well (to save cost for the Abuja trip, flight, and hotel) to include people that has a recent visa denial. So now, i dont know if i should leave her July date and let her go in person in July. But what if she doesn't get it? Will she still be able to apply for the dropbox?

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by nunicelady(f): 8:56am On Apr 20, 2022
Good morning,

It is the same criteria. Was she refused or denied? If she was denied, she has to apply afresh. But if she was refused, wasn't her case updated? Didn't they give her a slip with further information? Cos if she wasn't denied, she is getting very close to her one year mark. What is the status of her case? Have you checked online with the case number? Please do.

Thanks for the clarification. You are right. One member from the traveling party can submit on behalf of the entire party. My mum lives in Lagos and got her IW appointment in Abuja. Because she is older, we initially considered sending her passport to Abuja and have a family member who lives in Abuja but is not traveling with her submit on her behalf. However, after the challenges of getting an IW appointment and not wanting to risk DHL rejecting her passport and documents because a family member was submitting for her, we decided that it would be worthwhile for her to travel to Abuja to submit herself.

But you are right, if she was applying/traveling to the US with another family member, there would be no need for both of them to make the trip to Abuja. Thanks again for clarifying. I hope this information is helpful to folks on here.
wuki:

Good to know because I also just filled application for my parents @ Abuja and the appointment letter seems to suggest appointment at Embassy; pickup at DHL. Thanks for confirming dropoff location is DHL as well.

As to the other part of the question about proxy - I think it depends. If two or more family members are applying/traveling together - one of the applicants can drop off. It is clearly stated on the appointment letter.

UPDATE!!

Abuja IW

Submitted - 4/14
Administrative processing -- 4/19
Issued -- 4/20

I thought it was a fast turnaround because the Friday (4/15) after submission and Monday (4/18) were both public holidays because of Easter.

Thanks again for the information on this forum. I wish everyone success with their applications.

JohnZak:
Hey guys! I have gotten valuable information from this thread so I figure I will give back. I know some folks had questions about the IW submission process in Abuja. My mum had her IW appointment in Abuja this morning. She submitted her documents at the DHL office and not the Embassy as we initially assumed. She was there for about 90 minutes before she was attended to. They checked her documents and everything was good. I know some on this thread had questions about whether a proxy can submit on behalf of the applicant, especially an older applicant. My mum told me that a woman at DHL this morning asked the same question and the DHL worker said it is not possible. The applicant has to submit in person. I will update when there is more information. Good luck everyone!

Hello house,
Please someone help me out.

I’m attending a one day program/show in the USA and the rest days will be for tourist/sight seeing.

Please on the Ds160 form, I filled the hotel address of where I will stay in the U.S but I’m confused on what to fill for the US Contact Information.

Should I also fill the hotel address as the US contact Information or I fill the program organizer address which I will attending but the program is one day program.

Thank you all for your contributions
