Újùjù...... taste good but your fingers will see shege after eating it.... The yellow peel is coarse in nature, so, it gives the fingers that engages in pulling it out rough marks.
You pull it out and suck the juicy inner part.

Have you seen this fruit before, what's it called in English and your native language too.

My people call it UBUBU. The tender leaf is a good vegetable in ogbono or okra soup, and therefore, sold in our markets while the fruit has no market value, except that children pluck and eat it.

This is called Ububu in Igbo.
The leaves of the ububu tree is a better alternative to the popular Oha leaves in the preparation of draw soup.
Right here in our home in Enugwu Ezike, we are having Ofe ububu for dinner tonight. I will endeavour to share pictures here when it's ready.

Kobojunkie:
While searching, I found the name for a popular fruit in Nigeria. Locally called Ube, is Safou. One of the most distinctive features about safou is the way that the fruit have a texture like butter when they are cooked. This texture is why the fruit is sometimes referred to as butterfruit.

Safou is an evergreen tree found in the humid tropical forests of Africa, as far south as Angola and as far north as Nigeria. The fruits are also known as African pears and are oblong dark blue to violet fruits up to 14cm in length, with pale green flesh inside. These fatty fruits have been said to have the ability to end starvation in Africa, as 48% of the fruit is made up of essential fatty acids, amino acids, Vitamins, and triglycerides. They have estimated that a one-hectare plantation would produce 7-8 tons of oil, and all parts of the plant can be used.
https://listverse.com/2011/07/08/top-20-fruits-you-probably-dont-know/

Oga, the the name is Ube, safou is secondary. Which kind of inferiority complex is this one. A fruit that is native to us, which we have named, you come and tell us the name is safe, as in our own name for it no gel? Is it not a human being that called it safou in his own place. Haba@!!!
