I can see this working where

1. The husband is rich
2. The wives do not live together
3. One or both wives do not really love the man, they just want a husband.
4. Sex is a problem, one or both want some breathing space. Let him point his thing to another direction tinz.
5. The guy is reputed for cheating, better to have one other instead of several others.
6. The initial couple are older, so no sweat a new person is coming in.
7. The initial couple's culture permits it and they embraced same.
