In a high inflation environment, like we currently have in Nigeria:

1. Invest in businesses that are, above anything else, a hedge against inflation. 2 examples that come to mind are buying and selling, and property. However high cost of goods are, as a trader you never sell below the price you buy so there still an opportunity for you to make money. Property prices in major cities are always (well almost always) going up. These are the 2 areas you should consider for now.

2. Avoid businesses requiring high investment in expensive machinery. A standard Bakery requires you to spend millions of naira upfront on equipment. I assume a decent sized poultry also requires millions to set up, yet exiting that business is problematic as there are not many buyers for a used poultry.

For now concentrate on point 1. In another year or so, once inflation settles down a bit, you can revisit your bakery/poultry plans.

For whatever reason, pls don't go for Poutry.

Trust me bakery is worst. The cost of production is on a triple digit and lots have shut down operations in Lagos here I have personally witnessed.
Poultry too is experiencing this inflations too but not as bad as bakery and I believe there can be alternative feeds that can be given to the birds and sourced for locally at a cheaper rate.

you are wrong here now. The likes of snacks gotten from baking works are selling every blessed. Bakery is the best so far. The likes of snacks, chin chin are always go for sale every blessed day.

I can tell you've never baked before. You use eggs, butter and milk at the very least. Nothing abroad about what I said.

Only 40 crates of eggs for a day just from a single pen will give you over twice what a Baker will get for two days

But I wouldn't advice anyone to just venture into poultry without at least 360° experience though

Poultry pays more than bakery on the long run, but I'll advice the op to go for baking if she is not strong hearted (yes I used that statement)

What you need is a business plan? You don't start or conceptualise a business like this. Regardless of choices determined for you what makes a successful business is a business plan comprising all the information to make an informed decision. I will advise you go for BAKERY. Reason being that the risk attached to it is less than that of the poultry. The return is also higher in bakery business because it is a perfect market.

Young Man, do you know how much a crate of egg is sold? Do you know the duration and and efforts taken to mix, mill, mould, cut, pan, and bake 5000 breads a day, compared to a layer that pops eggs at any single minute for fun?

You've not even had an experience of egg production and it's profits, it's obvious, else you wouldn't have compared it to bakery

The only bone of contention here is that is the OP willing to bear the huge consequences that comes with it if she is not that experienced?

Mind you layers don't die like Broiler's if cared for properly, and doesn't need to consume much like Broiler's, plus any little feed they eat equals starts popping out eggs

Bakery is only easier to set up, and have a much lesser risks compared to poultry in general, plus less stress, but don't you ever compare it's profits to egg production, if you had said Broiler's, i wouldn't have argued, but layers especially when they starts laying eggs, that one is termed money per seconds.
