Visa alert

I applied for the visit visa for the sake of my wife who doesn’t have any travel experience..

A little background about me, I have been visiting the UK since 2011, I have multiple UK Visas 6 months twice, 2 years and 5 years visa and I have always used each visa once with my longest stay being 7 days. In addition, I am a US permanent residents and to be honest, I really don’t have any reason to visit the UK aside from the fact that I wanted to take my wife on her first trip abroad.

My visa was approved unfortunately hers wasn’t approved even though we applied together as a couple.

She started working first week in april so her salary hasn’t reflected on her bank statement before the application

I am disappointed but what else can I do.. can I reapply for her immediately with bank statement showing her salary payment for the month of april and may or wait 6 months before I reapply?

The lump sum deposited they complained about was a deposit made by me to boost her account

Apologies on the denial for wife. However she can not reapply on any grounds at this moment. Her refusal letter was quite explanatory. I dnt want to go over it again as the visa officer explained why.

So sorry about this. I can imagine your disappointment. Never mind. I advise that you wait six months and then she can reapply and mention that she wants to travel for Christmas or Easter next year.

Here is my take: you did not need to deposit any money into her account. Huge deposits are always a red flag and sometimes, the ECO is not patient enough to understand who deposited the funds and why.

Secondly, the fact that she just started a new job was probably another red flag. That shouldn't really matter if you can explain why she is applying when she just started a new job. My daughter applied before she started a new job earlier in the year and explained that the travel plan was on before she got the new job and she will still travel because she will work remotedly when she resumes. She had no pay slip but shared her employment letter and her own savings in naira and pounds (although I sponsored the trip). Your wife needs to have her own savings and explain how she saved the money over time.

The travel budget of 2,500 for a few days is too high. Yes, she might spend that much but a reasonable budget of about 1,200 - 1,500 is more than enough.

My advise: let her build her account for six month then reapply. At that time, she will have her payslips for 6 months, show salary for six months and then prove she can partly fund the trip. What the ECO always watch out for is the ability of the applicant (especially if she is not too old or too young) to fund the trip without support from anyone. They want to be sure that if you dont' sponsor your wife for any reason, she is capable of sponsoring herself without depending on public funds in the UK.

When your wife reapplies, give her your statement of account to show that you truly have the funds to sponsor her. Sending the funds to her account was not necessary and I have seen how it caused problems for many people. Finally, she can add a cover letter to provide all relevant information likely to help her case. Please take your wife for dinner to cheer her up and plan for her next application. Good luck!

Please I need advice .
If someone is applying for spouse visa by August which the processing period takes like 3-4 weeks and the passport will expire by February next year ,is it still advisable to go ahead with the same passport or
go for renewal first before anything else .

check the visa category of ur partner very well o… If they are on work or student visa, this is a temporary visa and so your visa is not spouse visa. Also spouse visa has never taken 3 to 4 wks to process from time immemorial, so agn go chk ur partner’s visa category and apply under the right place. Your passprt tht will expire in feb 2023 is fine

thanks for your response, yes you are right, partner's visa category is work visa (nursing , health & care )and the processing time for dependent visa of that category takes around 3 weeks according to uk.gov portal, I just want to know if the old passport can still suffice for August application without any repercussions.

it is now taking upto 6 weeks… category is dependent visa- health and care visa… there are no repercussions re your passport feb 2023 expiry .. get your NIN in nigeria to make things easier for a passport renewal in the UK.

Good afternoon house
Please I want to make an enquiry
I'm applying for a visit visa....though I've got someone sponsoring me over there but upon applying
I got to a page where they are asking of my current living expenses ( I'm currently a student still living with my parents)
What is the minimum amount do you think will be enough living expenses?

I have about 800k in my account ( mind you I'm not sponsoring myself someone else is sponsoring me)

N40,000 - NN50,000 a month is reasonable. As a student living at home, you are not expected to pay for more than data for your phone and other petty things.

how do you know your sponsor?
do you have proofs of your relationship?
have you met before?
why is your sponsor over there willing to do this? what are your ties to Nigeria?
these are the most important things to sort out first.. chances are low and your reason tht because ASUU is on strike is not good enough
Be ready to make a project out of why your sponsor is ready to shell out hundreds of pounds for a holiday for you, their relationship to you and why you will come back to Nigeria. Also where are your parents in all of this. They should write a letter too stating why this sponsor is your sponsor and their consent/permission for this trip

ok just so u know even if going with a team, your application will not be judged as a team per say.
Your monthly income has to tally with ur spendings.. if u will submit bank statement, the spendings can not be wide apart from what’s on ur statemnt

Please what kind of questions do they ask at the port of entry to the UK.
My mum is coming, I would like to know the possible questions they might ask her. In her application we stated she will be staying 1 month. But she intend spending longer time here

Please can you help with the sample/style of sokotogudali cover letter? I’m trying to read backwards to see if I can find it but please can you help post it and tag me? Thanks

jennyhumphrey:
Let me start by recommending @sokotogudali's cover letter. It was very detailed and I followed the same format. The truth is I made a decision to visit UK on 1st April, I had no earlier plans prior to that date, my bank statements were a mess, so I decided to explain every single income in my account as recommended by sokotogudali . I explained every single income in my account and son's account. My travel budget was also more than two times of my monthly income but not up to three times. I included the following documents:
1. Employment letter with introduction letter
2. Letter of invite with passport page of invitee and utility bills
3. Marriage certificate
4. Letter of consent for my son ( I am travelling with my son)
5. Bank statements(savings, salary and domiciliary)
6. Utility bill of my residence.
7. Husband's passport page
8. Son's birth certificate and result from his 2nd term exam and 3rd term calendar
9. My son's statement of account indicating his dad has sent the sum for his travel ticket
10. Letter of consent and sponsor ship for my son
11. A lot of family photographs
12. My work payslip
13. My previous visas
14. A 5 paged cover letter explaining my travel itinerary, my bank statements, my other income apart from my salary.

Above all let's pray for God's favour. My warm regards to everyone making this thread lively and contributing their quota
