I agree with you too. But what happened to the names listed on SH but sold on afternic for higher price?

This is because of Trust. An average American trusts Afternic because they are a GoDaddy brand, and GoDaddy is the biggest registrar, also most of the sales on Afternic come from search path(an end-user checking if a name is available on Godaddy or other afternic affiliated registrars or marketplaces, especially for names that have fast transfer enabled).

Lol. Brandable is very crazy. That is why I really don't like reviewing names for people. Nobody knows it all and no one knows the name that will sell. Someone sold a name here on SH like a month ago, I won't have looked at the name twice but it sold at a good price. I was really waowed.

U r right. I went through her profile now...seems she's added some ones that do sell on SH recently.

The whole thing is to find a strategy that works...u don't have any problem...I believe u already have ur strategy...proven from ur consistent sales. Just to finesse and build on it that remain.

We too that aspiring to get their, may God make it easier.

I want to share some notes regarding brandable. Hopefully, it will be of benefit to some.
I'm not a brandable expert, just learning over the years and I hold only a couple of brandables (around 300 or so). So please you can take this info "with a grain of salt". I'll try as much to compile and summarize all different sources I've come across.

Generally, I personally classify brandables into 3::
* Keywords (Single, compound, play on word)
* Blends
* Invented

Let's start with keyword brandables and talk a bit more on them.

Keyword brandables can be;

(1) Single word: this can further be classified into various forms.
+ Dictionary word: eg. Apple.com Hotel.com
+ Play on single word eg. Lyft.com
+ Deliberate misspelling; eg Zanith.com Infinity.com Lyft.com
+ Dropping a letter: eg. Blckr.com Note:: while dropping letters, it's important to note that mostly it's the vowels (one or more) that are dropped. An exception I came across is Grvt.com (the consonant y has been dropped and it can still be read as Gravity, however, note that this is a 4L name)
+ Adding a letter eg. Pra//nnk.com F//iind.com etc

(2) Compound keywords: most popular is the 2 keywords. Some 2 words when combined produce a very strong name. Eg BlueFuel, FaceBook, UrbanNest etc.
A separate post may be dedicated for compound 2 keywords as it's a very vast aspect of brandable domaining. However, some rules to note on Compound keywords are;;
+ Dropping and adding letters to them may not really work eg FceBook , FceBk, FaceeBook may not be a good brand. That method works better for a single keyword.
+ Blending 2 keywords should be done with caution. We will subsequently look into blends brandables.
+Misspelling is permissible, but preferably on only one of the 2 keywords. Eg FastLyft, StellarWorx etc are okay, but StelarWorx, FaztLyft may not be permissible

(3) Play on words; this usually involves getting a root word and adding a suitable suffix to it. A recent example is the nut//rizol sale reported by learner47
Here, the root word is Nutri (from nutrition, which is an ideal keyword in health and wellness category), and a suffix -Zol added to it.
This is one aspect of play on words. More examples are Nutra/vy, effort//o, Dovu//vio (from document) Dash//via etc
Another form of play on words is that, the root keyword may not be too obvious, but the domain as a whole conveys the idea of the keyword. An example here is; Renuly ( it conveys 'Renewal', ideal for wellness, life coach, detox industries), Thryvi (it conveys 'Thrive', Idea for wellness, life coach, gym industries).

I will be updating this when I have the time..

This is the shortest guide on brandable I have seen. I will keep referring this post to people who want to learn. Funniest thing is that I own one of the names you used as example. Maybe I will go and increase the price. For you to use it as example that means it must be resonating with other endusers grin.
My only addition to this is that for the omission and addition of letters, and even made up names, I prefer the length to not be more than 7 characters. I rarely do 8 characters except the name resonates well. I also like my misspellings to be 1 word rather than 2. This is not to say 2 words misspellings don't sell. It is just a personal preference.
@Ikhalyfah, I will be expecting your updates on compounds. It's like we have alot to learn from you.

Congrats again on this sale, although I wonder if that's what you'd like to hear given the situation. smiley

I was wondering if you could give an idea or tips on how you price your domains.

I know someone might suggest using GoDaddy tool, Namebio, etc. I do all that but I have never managed to price a domain higher than 2,999 (and I think it's just one or two).

What do you consider before opting for those 3,000+ price tags? Thanks in anticipation.
I think experience plays a great role in pricing. Some people have really nice names but just doesn't know how much they're worth so they price low to sell. Most of those in this category actually got those names for reg fee so they figured x100, x150, etc. is a steal.

Some on the other hand have some really nice names and they know the worth so they won't sell for cheap. They set the bar high up and don't mind waiting.
Meta//Payments dot co sold for £38,888 under two weeks while Meta//Avatars dot net sold for €38,000 under 4months. It will interest you to know that both of them were handregs sold by the same person in October 2021.

Another important factor to pricing is the amount of cash you've got in the bank. People ask more when they have more than enough to spend. They are not under pressure to sell.
Metaverse//xyz sold for $9,888.
Sportsbet//xyz sold for $104k.
Wrap//xyz for $110k.

The three names were sold by the same person. The first sold early 2021 while last two sold recently. While they are all great names, the first one is undoubtedly worth more than the other two. While we can argue that metaverse hasn't blown up back then, the reason why it sold low was because she didn't ask much for it.

Going through Swetha's sales reports on Namepros, her average selling price late 2020 / early '21 was mid four figures. Fast forward to 2022, she frequently sells mid five figures. What happened you might ask? She clearly increased her prices because obviously, she has more than enough money in the bank.

A guy on Twitter sold a one word .us extension for over $420k from an initial offer of $500. His first counter offer was 10btc and despite receiving 75k, 200k, 350k, he kept turning them all down till his demand was met. How was he able to pull that off? Yes the domain might be great but he obviously has a shitload of money in his bank account.

But while domain selling for high is what everyone wants, not everyone WILL have it. Names that sell high like I said earlier is borne out of experience.

The experience lies in learning the ropes of what makes a good name, what people are buying, having foresight of what will be the next big thing and getting in early, being super creative, being patient enough to wait for the right buyer and maybe a sprinkle of luck.

All of them work hand in hand. You cannot have crappy names and say you are patient for the time they will sell. You get the idea?

Don't also forget you need money to scale up. People that sell often have large portfolios with decent domains. The XYZ lady is a good example. Most of them study hard, build up a list of available domains and take opportunity of occasional promos.

None since we don't know any. No one goes for Brandables because of their sv or CPC. But you will still do what you want.

One thing I want to say is that, we should know that some big sales from 4 figures may also connected to big connections behind the curtains. There are many negotiations going on in parallel markets, many bigwigs in this industry connect via LinkedIn premium services and knows how to pinch some names to their circles just like what is happening in some other industries. It's when they report such sales that we are surprised, but how they got there will always be some level of secrets to us. That's what is called trade secret and it happens in every big transactions.
Having said that, many big sales too are just timing and has nothing to do with the above especially if the name is fully relevant to the company and has lots of online presence (backlinking, seo, low spam scores and the likes).
That's my own angle of some of these big sales.

should it also be the same in all your market places let's say you are doing a follow-up outbound with price reduction or only in landing page

It can be higher or lower in other marketplaces but the price you quoted in your outbound mail should match the one on the landing page.

Hello everyone.

I submitted a brandable .COM name to brandbucket for listing but no reply after 3 weeks. I later decided to list it on BrandMo and they accepted it immediately. On the fourth week, I received a reply from BrandBucket telling that they have approved the name with an an appraisal of 1k dollars. Meanwhile, the name is already active on branmo with a higher price a week ago. Is it advisable to switch to brandbucket or take patient for some time to see how things works? Help out.
