whatever you do, if you go, dont put your family through unnecessary stress... so make sure you have a valid plan in place. it would be unwise for most to leave a ₦600K paying job to go hustle abroad, but then again, we aint in your shoes.

With all the info you've given, then it's best you remain in Nigeria, because it'd take a number of years to get that big boy lifestyle you're enjoying in Nigeria abroad. If you're going with 4kids, the cost of child care is going to be significantly higher that whatever it is you're paying in Nigeria at present.
Yes, though the student route is easiest, not all translate to permanent residency after school, so that level of uncertainty is there. You must open your mind to the possibility of packing sh*t, mopping floors, and doing other manual labour, you wouldn't have a choice anyways, esp with 4kids, moreso, with your limited number of work hours as a student, things will be initially rough, and madam will need to hustle too to balance the equation.
If you're ready to bend and endure the temporary pains though, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
PS: Before they deceive you that they're earning 2Million in a month, ask them what their tax, rent and insurance etc is first.

Your friends might be honest with you....

Honestly I won't advice you to leave ur Job ,, I believe they are ways you can apply for jobs online in those countries you wish to go,, apply and pray ,, you might get picked and get a visa sponsorship... Instead of leaving your Job to where you don't know...

Bro ,, 600k no be beans for Nigeria ooo... Make we no lie . Lol . grin

Pls check out that video I mentioned, but most importantly read the comments, before you finally decide. It is very eye opening.

One troublesome nairalander claimed Africans in the diaspora were lying, but how can Africans from different countries, living in different locations all be lying about the same thing? Na plan?

Don't worry he may soon land here, he likes japa threads and believes Naija is a shithole grin. By his posts you will know him.
those guys have many travel videos. Could be kind enough to provide a link to any of them that relates to your post?

You have a good salary, wife and kids, don't leave all that only to travel to start afresh again. It will take you average 15-20yrs to get the level you are right now. You can go for holiday in any of those countries to see things for yourself.

If you were younger with no wife or job i will encourage you to go but you are settled already

Video like this mislead people . Few individual experiences does not represent the whole of immigrant story in the UK.

Some people lived for years in the UK, made money then went back to Africa to start shouting UK is bla bla bla...ask them to return home empty handed then work and build those good houses they will run back to the UK

If you finally decide to travel, then remove the UK, and to some extent, Canada from that list (or make it your last option). The rest are good, but the suffering you will face before you reach the promised land in places like Canada and UK, you might have been old then.

Dear OP @charles009

I find your thinking interesting, cos you seem to have a good job and yet you tend to want better. That’s what we’re meant to do in life.

If we were built to be in one spot for life we wouldn’t have our feet.

Truth be told so many stories of people who go and come back with nothing, some are fishy as they wouldn’t narrate if they were lazy or not, or perhaps they were involved in something fishy on another man’s territory.

I suggest you travel and visit these countries you might have in mind to acclimatize yourself with what’s what and what’s not.

I know people who have little or no skills earning $2-$3K every month after tax and about 600$-800$ after bills every month overseas without their family though.

If you can sharpen your skill sets when you relocate with some trainings, you should fare better.

You have a family so the story might not be the same, but you also have a helping hand with your wife by you, you can pull more weights and have less pressure.

Also, on a not so bright note. You have a good job here but is it secure?

is your safety and that of your family guaranteed?

Are their future guaranteed too?

Will you wake up tomorrow to another unimaginable inflation?

If you fall ill will you be taken care of first and bills sorted later or we have to source for the money before the doctors will even listen to you.

So so many questions I should ask, but you’re a man and I think you should be the one to question your action(s) as to how you can secure the future of your clan.

Imagine if Giannis Adetokumbo’s Father had him in Nigeria. grin

People may show you videos of how people are complaining, let this !d!its complaining come back home from where they are and allow fresh hands go experience the heavy taxing, but I’m sure they won’t.

Peace!!!

Jeezzz! Thread don reach page 10 from page 2 in 24hrs lol grin

If he removes those two, which other ones would you advise.

Also how do you mean when you say he would suffer so much in UK and Canada before making it?

AU, NZ, and GER are good options. Not sure about Germany, but the other two speak English, have an easy path to citizenship, have good weather, good income, and job opportunities, and are not crowded.

Anywhere fit benefit you. With your skills I'll advice you to travel out. Why did you birth four children in the first place? The more kids you have the more you'll struggle abroad. There is all about paying bills every month, but so far you have a job the money will keep flowing. Enter a gym and strengthen your body now, you don't know when you may lose a job and the only option available to make ends meet will be cleaning, factory or construction jobs. Developed nations are not for lazy Africans, leave laziness to oyibos.

What pisses me of about threads like this is that there's always a reference to the Op's current earning power: in this case 600k.

Last I checked, 1 dollar = 600 naira, so the Op is currently earning 1k dollars monthly which in itself is not bad but to put things in context :at this same time last year, it was about 1200 dollars.

Common sense dictates that there's a reason to be worried and so many other variables should be looked into apart from earning power.

Trust me, most who go back to Nigeria complaining didn’t move back by choice.
You and Justwise present strong points and I advise anyone to be suspicious of people who complain about the developed countries they moved to.
If you visit any Nigerians here in the US (my paternal side included) you hear them complaining to family in Naija about bills and how hard things are then the moment they disconnect the call, they jump right back to loving and enjoying their new life.
The majority of people who complain aren’t legal and don’t have papers, are lazy, don’t want family back in Naija to ask for help migrating, or ask for money.

Real question: why do these monikers act like bills and taxes are curses and everyone abroad works around the clock, living a hard life of struggle? A nice, comfortable lifestyle costs and we enjoy the amenities funded with our taxes. Savings and investments are priorities to me but what good does having large amounts of money saved serve in an unsanitary, uncomfortable, and dangerous environment where one encounter can wipe savings dry? Serves no good at all.

The people you talked to are not lying, more and more Nigerians are starting to open up about life in the diaspora and being truthful about their experiences.

A neighbour who works with Mobil and has relocated his family of 4 (wife & 3 kids) to Canada told me life is not as rosy as we think and it's really tough overseas. But our people like to lie and pretend about these things.

Does it make sense to leave a good paying job for a menial one like some of your friends are doing? I don't care how much it pays, you don't need a soul sucking job that pays XYZ amount before you can live a good life. You get the money and end up with other issues like depression, health hazards etc

I have heard of a 50 something year old Nigerian man who works in a factory over there, he suffers from back pain and all, but he can't quit. He has to keep grinding because they took out a mortgage on their house, him and wifey are still working to pay off. I can't recall the exact age I was told but it was something close to our retirement age in Naija. If they were here, chances are, he would have built his house and been able to retire from active duty by now.

Before you japa watch a YouTube video of Wode Maya & Juliet (search for it on Youtube) to help you make an informed decision. Take your time to read the comments that follow as well, it is African diasporans sharing their truth and experiences.

If your friend really works for Mobil in Canada then the tough life he tells you about must be due to the weather otherwise, he is telling lies.
I often laugh because those in the diaspora never start sharing ‘truth and experiences’ until things go sour for them or they feel threatened by too many Nigerians wishing to move abroad and have a comfortable lifestyle like theirs.

The so called folks in the videos you posted, what would it take for them to buy a flight ticket to MMIA and come back since it's obviously easy over here.

Madam, you just can’t over emphasize on what you just said.

I have a very very very close relative who came back recently after we persuaded him not to.

He was extorted at the airport.

He was slapped by a police man 4-5 days after arriving during an altercation.

He was robbed 2 weeks later someone came in through their ceiling and stole his phones and laptop.

God Almighty knows I’m not making these things up.

Now he says he regrets coming back.

All in all you can’t go to another man’s land and not want to pay some form of your own due(tax) for earning and living good on their soil, that’s disrespectful.

Same taxes you all pay here without flinching.

You pay it on transport via agbero money that’s added to your bus fare.

You pay on VAT, which is also included in foods you buy and airtime’s purchases you make(heard their slamming a new fee and raising that sh!t)

You need to choose, if there’s need to plan for your future the time is now. Nigeria no send anybody papa!!!

When friends and family abroad tell you how difficult things are, they’re basically hinting at you not to ask them for money or favors.

If it’s so bad, why didn’t they jump back on a return flight to Nigeria? cheesy

Good choice, but not because of your job's earning power but because it's not easy to start all over again abroad most especially with four kids.

If you cannot get a work visa or permanent residency to Canada or Australia. Dead the idea of quitting your job to go do study visa in uk with a wife and 4 kids . He go hard and rough. If your wife still young try Canada. To get financial advisor work for a start no go hard you. While you plot career advancement.

I believe you but shocked ! Let me guess: he had gotten used to those things not happening to him but was slapped back into reality quickly (no pun intended, sir)? You’re really right about not wanting to pay their own due.
Tell me please, do you feel he took your suggestions not to return to heart or was he dead set on going back, refusing to listen to voices of reason?

Honestly, given his situation.

It's better he stays back.

Assuming he was single and younger, it'd have been a different thing all together.
