Raalsalghul: If you have never been to a place, u won't understand how the place works. That money he is earning in Nigeria can sustain him for more than 3 months. Over here, change that money to dollars or pounds and multiply it by two, u won't have anything left at the end of the month after u have paid so many things. Make your research bro 2 Likes |

Popemax: Tell.me how you earn 700GBP per week... Is it before tax or after-tax? Bills are there to collect some of your resources away.... It is better you tell someone the truth....50 percent of naija abroad are doing jobs they can't do here in Nigeria....tell them the truth.... The truth there is that you can't compare Abroad with Naija..the difference is clear....Naija Nah shit hole...but, to be truthful, ... be ready to put all that you have learned over the years to work. So as ... to earn money and be legit. ... 1 Like 1 Share |

1stGenAmerican: These so called nominal jobs may come with a nice pay, but there's just one snag about it that am not quite comfortable with. In the dating arena for example, it's sort of a challenge when introducing yourself and what you do to a lady. It's just doesn't sound appealing/attractive to them. Then, one has to go out of his usual way to lie about his job. 2 Likes |

ABIODUNOLAOPA1:The issue is that MOST PEOPLE in Nigeria are just interested in salary. Someone earning #600k abroad after deductions is still better than someone earning same #600k in Nigeria after deductions. The reasons are too many; 1. Less disturbances from ur people. U can disconnect from ur kinsmen and plan. 2. General Envy & hatred by neighbors in Naija. 3. Where is the security in Nigeria? 4. What will the future of ur kids be like? They may not be that lucky as u are in that kind of country where someone can be sacked in a dream. 5. Where are the Good Roads? 6. Where is Power(electricity) 7. Crises everywhere.. 8. Air & Noise pollution. 9. Insanity & Insults. 10. Police brutality and criminality. 11. Where are the equipped hospitals? 12. Any health insurance for ur kids? 13. Currency nosediving like a skydiver. 14. What part of Nigeria can u take ur kids for vacation now? I can go on and on.. So, with #600k per month in Nigeria, you may not add weight and look healthy. No peace of Mind. U feel threatened whenever your doors are knocked bcoz u may be the next! I PREFER PEACE OF MIND to everything in the world. I can't live in a place in with so much palpable fear of existence. My opinion! 13 Likes 2 Shares |

charles009: A lot of things will determine if you should consider it or not: 1. How old are your children? If they are under 4, then you will need to have childcare for them (except your wife will stay at home taking care of 4 kids). If they are older, then they will be entitled to going to a free school. 2. 600k is small money. If you come to the UK and utilise the IT skills you have, you could potentially get a £50,000 - £60,000 job. But you won't get that in the first year you arrive. You will need time to settle down, update yourself, get into the system. 3. Coming via the student route is not a sure way of staying in the UK. Question - is your wife willing to work in the care industry? If yes, then you can get a work permit through this for five years as there is shortage in the market and from that you apply for indefinite leave (what you Nigerians call Green Card). 4. It's usually very tough to start with, but if you can weather the storm, you will become successful beyond your widest imagination. This is an open forum and I can't start sharing what I earn, but trust me, I have never regretted moving abroad. 5. All those saying "Abroad is not all that" are those who either don't have the means to relocate, have comma with their document or outrightly don't want to make changes and they are looking for every reason to discourage you from going. Also people who want to continue to live a life that you can do anything you want without being questions prefer Nigeria. that is my opinion. I'll share more info if you want though. 10 Likes 1 Share |

US is still the best forget the UK which is just a Lagos extension. 600k is just $1k a month, even doing hustling jobs like Amazon and Uber together you can make $8k a month in the US but you will work hard like a slave. Since you are self employed and the US tax system is geared towards people who are self employed, so you will pay minimal tax and save majority of your $96 k annual salary. 1 Like |

If your naija earring is true, here is my advice for you: Don't go. Live frugally here in Naija, save up or invest your money and use that money to send your children to school abroad. 2 Likes 1 Share |

charles009:see brother. Abroad is fun and good. You live a quality life. Your children go to good school everything is okay. Yes you pay bills to get that quality life. You work long hours too. No problem in that. However I will warn you that you end up having nothing to show if you dont plan. You might enjoy it now but when getting old and you see your colleagues with big houses and cars or even with higher position you will now start regretting why you left naija. But if you are not bothered and you just want to live an ordinary life then go ahead. You said you have no skill, my brother na above poverty line you wan dey so. If you no get IT skill especially javascript, python, java or you are not a nurse or doctor, you will end up after several years having not to show. Probably you might manage a 3 bedroom bungalow in naija and thats all. If i were you, if I will leave for england, I will get a senior manager role in london with visa sponsorship but if you want to go as a student, you just want to start from beginnning to labour over again. 1 Like |

charles009:student route to Germany is the best if you can secure PhD scholarship ( German universities can give you direct PhD with just bsc if you have cgpa above 4.4) PhD route is 4 years on a net salary of 1700 euros monthly....if you can learn the German language and make at least A2 ...job pathway becomes easier...and once you can secure a job you are at most 2 years to securing permanent residency 1 Like |

Omo - What majority of people have said is no cap. It is not easy. But if you can cross from New York to Quebec , Canada via Roxham road. ( Illegal immigration) and then move on to Ontario. You can find work as a nurse aid.( PSW- Personal Support Workers ) they have an aging population and need people who can assist people. It might be demeaning to you at first but the money is good. Issues :- Will you be granted asylum based on your story. How old are you .. Retirement age is 65. so if you are 40 you only have 25 years to legally work. How much money do you have in savings to help you live a comfortable life. In Nigeria, we do not pay taxes. You take home almost 95% of your pay. Abroad everything is taxed . So take home pay is about 65% of that then comes deductions ( Mortgage or rent, insurance, car payments, bus payments , food, clothing, savings etc) My advise is this - Stay where you are but get the kids out. Push 2 if possible, so they can keep each other honest and accountable, then have them send for the younger ones. And when they are settled they can begin to thank you for the sacrifices you made for them. 4 Likes |

If you go to the UK because you want to hustle, you are fvcked! You will labour till you drop amd have very little to show for it. If you dont have or will not get a good paying job, forget it. Maybe Canada or the US might be better options for you. 2 Likes |
