`[s] Eating out is more cost effective.

Additionally, you get to eat varieties.

For example,
You can use N3,000 to cook a restaurant standard soup minus Eba. Then you keep eating the same soup over and over.
But with that N2,000, you can eat rice, okro soup, eat melon, eat bitterleaf soup at different times plus garri in a restaurant or mamaput depending on your location...if we are to assume a plate of food to be N500. You can add extra if you want.

Notwithstanding the gas, water, stress and time used to cook that food. And imagine warming a pot of soup over and over for someone without a refrigerator or electricity let alone the cost of fuel and maintenance of generator if inclusive.

But if two or more persons are involved, cooking is preferable.

It is worthy of note that the criterion for judgement here is relating eating out to cooking considering a particular amount of money.[/s]

We are looking at cost effectiveness with respect to the average food setting and not class.
Even at that

Eating out is better, saves you time, money and energy.
If you really care about your health and eating healthy it's better you cook at home.
You can equally combine both.

The best food to take is fresh food. Eating out gives you that. But when you cook as a single guy/lady you may keep warming a particular soup until it starts tasting like another soup. Lol

"Bolded" is the word.

For one person eating out is more cost effective.

But for three or more, cooking is more cost effective.

Not enough information

Is your eating out
Buka
QSR
resturant
Bespoke eating?

When I follow some of these youngins and see them burning 3 to 5k on a meal I am always weak.

Me that I always stick to n600/650 chicken Republic rice

Also what is your true cost of eating at home?
Not just food, but cooking gas, dishwashing stuff, electricity for freezer, seasoning etal?

Eating out is more convenient while eating in may be more rewarding

Not all of the singles have refrigerators at their disposal especially in Nigeria and underdeveloped nations. Don't you think eating out is better...it gives you the luxury of eating new dishes not the ones you keep warming for days and they loose their freshness and sweet taste.

You are relaxed where you are. You can go on a night out and sleep over there without this thought of " my soup at home is gonna spoil or turn sour"
Others are catching fun, you're thinking of the amount you spent on the lonely food at home.

You start off home very late in the evening just to rescue a sour-bound soup and then run into security agencies or bad gangs. You end up putting yourself at risk

My guy come try eating out for Benin city make you know wetin life de talk

You go chop 1200 naira worth food in the afternoon, you go hungry before 45mins

Am safe to conclude, You might probably be in one of those northern states where foodstuffs and restaurants food's are excessively cheap and served in large quantities 8

Over here in Benin

2 meat= 200 each

4 wraps of fufu (the size of a 1 year old baby's fist) = 100 naira each

Vegetables soup= 150

Orha soup= 150

Egusi and ogbonor= free

As for spoon

Rice= 400 (na that one aldut fit eat)

2 meat= 200 each

Spaghetti= 200

Or

2 meat= 200 each

Boiled Beans=200

Rice=300

4 pieces of Dodo (fried plantain) =150

Boiled egg = 100 naira

In the evening

Palm Oil beans = 250 (na that one aldut fit eat)

Bread (small) = 150

Pap = 200

Milk = 250

Sugar (optional)=50

Calculate all those prices for a week, then you'll know nothing beats cooking at home even if it involves gas, stove, firewood or even electric plates.

As for variety, won't argue that, but cooking at home has its own advantage, as you can add what and what were not added to the recipe

But eating out variety or not, is darn expensive

Just see how you dey waste money

It's depend on where you are eating and what you are eating

As a single person, if you are doing mama put like me where you can see food of 300, 400, 500 or Sometimes 250; then cooking may be more expensive owing to the prices of food stuffs in the market

But when you eat at a standard restaurant where a plate of food cost minimum of N2000, then cooking is cheaper

Try eating in mega chicken for one week 3 times a day.. Then come and tell us how your account looks like..

Mega chicken sef is the cheapest place to eat in Lagos. grin With N700, you get a plate of rice (jollof or fried) with chicken (drumstick).

Usually, when people make this sort of comparison, na iya basira or mama fejiro level o.

No matter how, cooking will always be cost effective.

For you to eat satisfactory in any mamaput these days, you will have at least 1,000

Let say you want to eat 1,000 food in the morning, eat snacks of 300 in the afternoon and another 1,000 meal as dinner.

This will amount to 16,100 in a week and 69,000 in a month of 30 days.

Now, if you use 69,000 to get raw food.

Analysis: If you look out to fill your gas from the seller selling in bulk you will fill at an average of 700/kg. You will fill 12.5kg cylinder with 9,000 transport included.

Out of 69,000.

1 12.5kg gas +transport fare = 9,000

1. ½ bag of rice = 15,000

2 Bean = 5,000

3. Semi 10kg = 6,000

4. Garri = 3,000

5. Yam = 5000

Ingredients for cooking soup eg: Palm oil, seasoning and others =5,000

Balance = 26,000

Out of the remaining 26,000
Budget 4,000 for soup and the transport fare to buy the ingredients every week.

Remaining 6,000 can be kept for miscellaneous and evening suya and Pepsi while returning from work.

All these food stuffs will last more than one month

And you will definitely save more money. I am happy I stopped that rubbish life on time. Even as I am typing now, I am in one of the eateries here but only for bread.

That's the only thing I come here for, these days and pick up a bowl of ice cream once in a while.

Problem with eating cheap outside is that you'll never find satisfaction. The food hardly taste nice: sometimes, it's edible other times you can't look at it. And by cheap I mean bellow 1k per plate
Then if you must eat in standard restaurant, the cost is steep.

If you care about the quality of food and satisfaction, cooking at home is the only viable choice.
