I think he is trying to highlight benefits that can be enjoyed within the chaos

not paying taxes or light isn’t an inherent crime

if government want to fix the light problem, getting everyone to pay their fair share isn’t the first step, they should fix generation and distribution, naturally illegal practices will g away, with Nigerian gas reserves, if things are properly done, power can be cheap enough that people wouldn’t even see the need to game the system

And don’t get me started on that circus called taxation, people like to hype it but it’s just a way for the political class to dictate how much money people can hold

You sef, are you for immigration or not?
As for me, I think it's a very very simple thing.
You can leave the country for a better life if you are in a position to and ALSO hope that the country gets better so that your kin and your children will not have the desire to run away from their fathers land.
It's a 2 way street. Leave if you can, but importantly be well informed of where you're leaving to and challenges to expect and also do whatever you can to make your country better.

This is why I was petitioning those abroad like Ibime, airmark, afrodoc, chic2pimp, raumdeuter, nateevs etc to try and vote. They might be there but they should still do their bit to change the country for the better.

Oh well! While I agree that it’s easy to live an honest, direct, candid and forthright life in abroad because of their good working system and opportunities.

I’ll also be telling lies if I say most Nigeria based Nigerians condemning Onyemaair here are not doing worse offline. I’ll sincerely be telling lies if i say that 90.922% of them condemning him are currently not or at some point enjoyed illegal light connections here. cheesy

All of us in Nigeria dey do mago mago offline, na smartness and connection when e favor us, but na corruption when e no favor us.

What i personally find wrong is coming online and forming motivational speaker, condemning japa gang aka J-Gang and using epistle to disturb us about PVC, whereas you’re very corrupt offline. Na that one wey no make sense.

For now, make we follow people wey dey abroad dey form tax payers and forthrightness, but we know as e dey go offline.

Oh na J-gang be our name now grin

What does federal government have to do with generating power in Nigeria?
what does government have to do with healthcare? you stated earlier that you enjoy free healthcare and based on research, NHS is trash, multiple governments have been trying to revamp it, there are even conversations suggesting the introduction of American healthcare model cheesy Hopefully your government will foolishness adopt that method

But Which country in this world doesn’t own a part of its power infrastructure, they build, groom and regulate it

Expecting private sector to single-handedly carry it especially with dumb Nigerians everywhere is not going to happen cheesy

There are things that government must provide for all its people, public goods

Power
Accommodation
Water
Food
Education
Job

Public good like power no get owner, the main goal is to ensure that those things are available to everyone consistently at affordable prices and it’s the job of the government to create it or encourage an enabling environment, that’s the whole point of government, we all collectively accept those people as guardians of the collective wealth of the nation, We all own this world, nobody owns it more than the next person, people just need to wake up

Na why I no bother put mouth for the discussion since, cos I know the guy will not come out clean. At least he has said it with his mouth

I think he says he have a farm which I believe will be bringing him steady income.

If not, it’s easy to understand that 200k cannot do zilch in our current economic realities.

On front page right now, there's a report showing the 20 out of the 23 power plants in Nigeria are suffering from major problems. In case you didn't know, all of these plants are privately owned. FG only transmits energy.

You are the same person that said not paying for light isn't a crime

So if the guys that generate the light can't break even let alone turn a profit partly because niggas are stealing light up and down, what is it you want the Federal Government to fix?

What does federal government have to do with generating power in Nigeria?

Power generation is the work of the federal government. (Though they have sold most of the power plant to their cronies). Most of the power being generated by these gencos are still directed to the national grid.

Some months ago, the National Assembly finally passed a law to remove power from the Executive List to the concurrent list which allow each state to generate its power and distribute it to their citizens without transmitting the power to the national grid.

How is Power Generation the work of the Federal Government post privatisation?

Are you saying that FG should be responsible? or that FG is currently responsible?

We pay very low taxes in Nigeria. In America my poultry farm would most likely be taxed. My wife's salary is not taxed at all. Mine is deducted from the ministry but my tax is just 15k monthly. But federal government pays emoluments and allowances.

I also don't go to work everyday. The same thing with many of my colleagues. We have a system that covers for each other. I go to work only 3 times in a week.
You can't have such laxity abroad. You will work through your nose.

Lastly let me tell you the icing on the cake, I haven't paid nepa bill in 3 years. Around us we have people that rig the meter, so it doesn't read. When the nepa people come much later, we settle the staff and he goes. This cannot happen in abroad.

Bros , it's all fun untl you are caught. My neighbor did it and I was tempted to but I restrained myself. The day NEPA officials came from Ikeja and noticed it, he got arrested immediately.. Dude paid through his nose before he got out..

Right now, he's meticulously honest at all times. Nothing else is as important to him. So because I dey naija I go come dey happy bypassing my meter or driving one way? These are a 1000 ways to part with your hard-earned money..

it’s the government’s job to do it, like it’s their job to provide you with healthcare

There are 200m people, you can’t even consistently produce 10MW, and you expect people to behave orderly, the demands of the people are so much more and we haven’t factored redundancies

And you expect them not to game the system, there is no where in this world that can prevent such practices if there is an imbalance between demand and supply

make it available and affordable, people will stop gaming the system simple

Can you explain how it is the federal government's job to generate power in Nigeria in 2022?

Which Government Agency or Parastatal is currently responsible for generating power? Can you tell us the name?

Go rural posting for road wey dey Make people carsick, and wey no dey safe at all.

Reach there, gas do distance visual acuity sweating because light no dey. With a chart that is not illuminated and therefore will underestimate patient acuity.
Gas use phone light do near visual acuity because light no dey.
Cannot refract patient because light to dey to do autoref and the room is too brightly lit by natural lighting for retinoscopy.
All this improvisation on top salary wey no dey come regularly and Hazard allowance wey them no gree pay despite a memo to that effect since the first of December.

Then I look at my own classmate who took a route to the UK that I didn't know existed until recently. She works in an optical shop and I work in a hospital, yet all equipment is there, she doesn't have to answer anybody chief chief. Nobody will tell her to work where there's no light. Despite being under probation, all her allowances will come when due, and she is paid double for even a single minute of overtime. Nobody will tell her to sweep office or be carrying lenses to stock verification every week despite there being non-medical staff in the department.

Then person go come tell me Make I no japa.

Okay.

For every of that guy that rig meters, there are thousands of people that are given estimated billings to cover for the losses.....

Govt/NEPA have the willpower to block loopholes but they are beneficiaries to it too...

Bus drivers, okada riders, market women slammed with multiple taxations even from miscreants/agberos/Omo oniles which is a loophole they can block and channel tax/levy collections to state govt purse/account direct..

If na Tax and getting value for service paid for, nigerians except for some few exceptions have it bad than the abroad folks....WE PAY TAX AND SERVICES MORE HERE but don't get the VALUE WORTH

How is the system flawed?

Energy Generation is completely Privatised, but you are encouraging people not to pay for Electricity.

How do you expect the GenCo to continue to operate when you're literally stealing revenue from them?

Very simple questions.
