Besides, it made sense for Obi to understudy the prevailing trend/development in power generation and not rely merely on classroom/text book concepts which might prove impractical and outmoded.

His education was not in engineering. He has degrees in business, management, and economics. Education teaches you a lot of things, including the value of continuous learning and on the value of case studies. In this particular case, there is a large engineering component, afterall you want to see the machinery at work that will produce the power. Then he will speak to the management and financial people to understand the costs and the medium-term management needs.

This means as he is campaigning, he is also making some of the connections and synthesizing the thoughts that will go into policy making for the power sector. As a result he will be much better equipped start his search for competent cabinet members for the task (which is not something you wait for six months after getting the job to start doing).

Even me, as an engineer, I do go for training and case studies... it's how we all improve on our education. Nothing is static.
