Thanks alot! i just saw your reply. was beginning to wonder if my profile was in ghostmode. grin

For Lagos, you can't park close to the embassy. There are car parks close by but you will need to walk down maybe 200meters. Maybe it's less, I was in heels. You can't go in with your cellphone either. If you are dropping documents, they don't mind. But to have access into the consular office, you can't have your phone. Best to keep it in the car.
All the best.

Hello there

I’m about to apply for a Visa with my family to visit my Mum’s grave site who died two years ago. I want to know what I will need to for the application and if we might even have a chance to be granted a Visa. I hope I can get suggestions from here

Thanks

I went through the threads before the interview.. I really don't know what else to do

If COA is $59k then it's a huge money.
To cut long story short because this is not the Students thread, try apply for funding before going back to the embassy. It will make it more easier.

Best of luck

I want to ask if the dates are available whenever or there is a specific day/time when they are available. For IW, Abuja to be specific.

Good evening. Pls the IW, does the embassy have to send a message for someone to submit for IW or we can just apply for IW?
My husband has December date and we haven't received any mail for IW. Is drop box automatic now? Thanks.

Can someone pls answer this question below, thank you.

My interview appointment is on 5th July 2022. This was booked way back in 2021. I have updated my DS-160 form and printed out the confirmation with new DS-160 number.

My question is does my appointment confirmation with old DS-160 number still valid? If not, how do I update and print out another appointment confirmation with the new DS-160 number. Thank you. [/quote]

As you have updated your new ds-160 confirmation no on your profile, your appointment date would automatically update itself. You need to open it and printout a new appointment confirmation for your interview.

If your visa expired within the last two years, then you qualify for IW. You can join the telegram group for IW for date. Otherwise, you need to retain your date. The embassy will not send you any message to submit. You will look for a date and book then you submit at the embassy/consulate.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by DrStrangelove: 1:10pm On Jun 26, 2022
If Ur husband's visa expired lass than 2 years ago, ur husband automatically qualifies for IW though there are some conditions attached for further eligibility. Go thru those requirements first to see if he wholly qualifies.

If the visa expiry is more than 2 yes, am afraid Ur husband should just remain his December date.

The embassy does not send email reminders for IW and IW program has been restarted since February 1st 2022.

Good day,

This is very interesting as I have never come across this situation before but will attempt to by asking some questions.

Ur purpose is genuine enough. First off, Ur applying with Ur family. By family, am assuming u (he/she) together with Ur spouse and children? Or is it with Ur siblings or a mixture of both?

It will look better if it's with Ur immediate family (wife/husband and children). If it's with siblings, Ur chances will be dependent on the travel history/circumstances of each one of u. If there is any redflag in one of Ur applications, the VO might not be willing to grant u guys visas. Another way with the siblings situation is for each sibling with their immediate family (spouse/children) to apply for the visas separately but around the same time and cross reference each other during their interviews. If the first sibling/family is given, they will be open to giving the others if all other factors check out. This is the easiest part and the factor or questions are below:

1. What was Ur mum's status in the USA before her demise? Was she a citizen/green card holder?

2. Do u know the funeral house/ cemetery where she was buried? Do u have her Death Certificate from Vital Records and other documents required of u?

3. Why now? As in why going now why not last year or why didn't u go when she was buried? This is a catch-22. Though there are reasons like vivid and all, pls rehearse the answer well as this will be an important answer to the VO.

4. Is the burial site visit the only thing Ur going there for? Also rehearse Ur answers here too

5. U should be able to give answers that demonstrate all of u are coming back to Naija soon enough e.g like office leave and need for children to resume back in school

Goodluck

You qualified until march 2022. Now you don’t qualify for IW, you need to book in-person appointment. What were you doing since February when IW started? You would have renewed your visa since.

Thank you very much for your response.

Well I’m applying with my Immediate family, (wife and a three year old child.).

My mum was just visiting when she died and it was in 2020 during the epidemic. So we could go at time.

I have her death certificate and I will want you to suggest other documents I might also need along the certificate. And yes I know the funeral home she was buried

I actually operate a registered business with my wife. So I will also be needing advise on this too.

And finally I’m mainly going for the visit and definitely to catch up with my sister who is studying there. I only plan to go for one week because of my business.

Please iI will need more advise as regards this

Thank you

Good morning all,

Can one take passport photos for the US visa in any photo studio? I'm asking because of the specifications stated.

Thank you

Of course, you can.
If you know how to use paint, you can always edit the size of the photo.
Ensure your ears, shoulder, eyes are not cut out from the photo i.e they are visible.

This is plausible enough.

Since u have a sister over there, I will be assuming she was the one that handled the burial arrangements. There should be other documents I guess from the funeral home stating burial lot number and the likes. This is essential to show u know where u are going to visit and which cemetery.

Also know some details about Ur sister. Is she married now? If so, details about her husband like name of husband, children etc. If not, which city she is staying and where she is schooling/schooled.

Now back home, Ur proof of ties should be rock solid. U said u run Ur business with Ur wife. Do u have a sizable number of employees? Can Ur business run on auto without u around for one week? Is Ur sister and the cemetery located in the same state? Depending on Ur intended travel date, u might need to extend the one week to two weeks to make it more believable. One week to me is a bit washy as really it's actually 4/5 days of actual visit of u remove the time spent in the air bi-directionally. 2 weeks is better.

Let the amount u make be robust both u and madam. How long u and madam has been running the business is also key. This should demonstrate ties to home country.

Goodluck
