He claimed one of the reason for big corruption in the civil service is that the system is rigged against integrity because how do we expect a civil servant/Private workers earning like 100k to afford a house/car that is 8million by paying cash at once.

He said we can’t have a system that allow corruption while on the other hand have EFCC to curb the corruption.

He advised the best way to curb this is to set up mortgage system such that the people can pay in installment with FG working alongside the lenders to see that people can have access to such loans. With this, a civil servant don’t need to steal to afford cars and etc.

In Lagos, this is in practice with Lagos HOMS. The FG just need to back the banks with some security that can help them mitigate against defaulters that may arise.

To the Obituary people that invaded this thread, you’ve been asking for Tinubu stance on things like this, now he spoke brilliantly, you’re still bitter.

Whether you hit your head on stone or not, Tinubu will be your president in 2023.

Trust me, if Tinubu gets elected, he will build a long lasting mortgage structure in Nigeria that will outlive his government. This man understand how to build structure and he is a goal getter.

Mortgage system that him and his tóuts will monopolize just like the Lekki Toll Gate extortion and at the end of he day, the people paying for the mortgage will weep!

Good forbid that this Thíef becomes president. It will never happen. I and my family are OBI-DIENT to the core! Say NO to Thíefnubulation and Economic Tribulation!!

You are a dullard. What is a person that is earning 100k a month going to do with an 8 million Naira house?
In fact even someone earning 200k will be unwise to buy a house at that rate with a weak currency and battered economy.

In countries where things work properly, people live within their means. It's difficult times.

It is your type of mentality that makes young ones become fraudsters.

In a country with over 30% unemployment rate you are talking about credit system. What happens when the person losses his job.

I am an Obi supporter and I can clearly tell you that this is a good one from BAT. What you guys don't get is that, no one is saying BAT isn't a good administrator or a builder, but there are so many reasons these guys should start empowering the youths to take on the leadership roles while they play supportive and advisory roles. These guys have been in power since the 80s and they are still the ones ruling till date... Haba now, when is the future we were promised coming?

That been said, you all should learn to be civil when selling your candidate. We shouldn't start insulting one another because we have different opinions about candidates. Aside people that directly benefit from these politicians, the rest of us are just trying to make sure Nigeria works again during our lifetime. Most people supporting PO are doing so not because they believe he is better than BAT, but guys are tired of these same old guys.
In the end, whoever wins, we all will still have to work together, pray together to still make sure they deliver because their decisions will definitely affect us all. So why the bitter stance against one another because of politicians

Is you and Tilumbu not foolish? How do you setup a system like that without job security. The govt does not even pay civil servants as at when due ao how can such system work? You want to setup such credit system and you do not have a unified database across goct parastatal and every govt office runs in its own silos? The system is flawed from the get go and this will not hinder people from corruption.

It’s same exactly as what he said, so what nonsense are you saying?

Is Peter Obi of 60 years a youth? It seems you just finished smoking your own Meth.

If I want to vote a youth, I’ll find someone like Sowore who is still youth by Nigeria standard.
A 60-year old man is a youth according to them. Nonsense!

How would someone earning 100k afford ro pay back a car loan of 3.5 million?

Even with a credit system. It will take 100% of his salary for over 2 years to pay for the car.

Which lender will agree to such a deal?

BTw Nigeria already has a credit system. Loan apps like Carbon and Branch use it.

The next president should focus on increasing local production to strengthen the naira.
So that car of 3.5 mil can go back to the 1.5 mil it was sold 7 years ago.

TINUBU HAS NOTHING TO OFFER.

It's you that is jumping from subject of the matter to another one entirely, he's on one of the strategy to use for fighting against corruption. You derailed from there to how to make our currency stronger. Don't let your hatred for Tinubu to becloud your sense of humor.

You can not have a credit facilities system in a structureless rogue country. His goofed idea is like putting the cart before the horse.

You’re correct about being civil.

But if you check Nairaland and other online space, Obi supporters usually abuse people not supporting him such that you have some celebrities having to close their comment section because of the too much abuse.

If we allow them to abuse while remaining civil, they will silence everyone with their mob culture which explained why I was also on the attack front he post.

TINUBU HAS NOTHING TO OFFER.

He just used that as an example. Someone earning 100k does not necessarily have to go fo a N3.5m car. In a multilateral arrangement involving banks and FG, workers can actually obtain car loans for 5 years (60 months) and mortgage loans for 20 years (240 months) on a single digit interest rate. I'm a banker and I currently enjoy this benefit. This is what obtains in UK, Canada and US.

The man is making sense. Despise the messenger but don't hate the message. Take emotion out of it.

This type of campaign strategy was introduced into our politics by these old men (BAT being their leader). It is what we all grew up to know about politics and you cannot totally blame them for it. But then, should it continue? Definitely No! Again, you are not wrong to give it back to anyone who think they have monopoly of violence, but whenever we have the chance, correct them with love instead of hatred so that our political space can be purge of such nonsense. May the best candidate win come 2023!!

Besides, credit is not just given anyhow, you have to be credit worthy to access credit.
