NSE is just a graveyard! A reflection of the bad state of Nigerian economy and slopiness of SEC. No new listing, deficient FPI, poor corporate governance, extreme manipulation, low retail participation, weak liquidity, lack of innovation, amongst others. #sigh

SEC is part of the problem especially in respect of low retail participation.

The stress one goes through to collect dividends is very disheartening and designed to frustrate small stock holders.
Meanwhile, if you buy American stocks, it’s only your broker that you know and your broker also sends you dividends. You have no business with registrars and their useless requirements.

Why can't we put in place a system whereby immediately you buy a stock, your broker would provide the relevant registrar with the same KYC documents you provide it while opening an account, for the registrar to process your dividend promptly as and when due?

Why do SEC, CSCS and relevant administrator continue to keep quite,
and fold their hands on this dividend issue while they continue to publish list of unclaimed dividends running to billions?
Why do Africans continue to sink in the abyss of mental and physical laziness, ineptitude, lack of vision and innovation !?
Our political leaders are just a reflection of the larger society. A bundle of fatty-pot-bellied and fat-headed morons.
You write the registrars, no response, you call them on phone, no response. If the finally respond, they ask you to scan and send documents on your life history!!!
Can we form an associate of stock investors and launch complaints to all the relevant "fanthom" authorities? The force of our cooperative efforts, should be able to move these gluttonous zombies.

Well said my brother but you know how things are in this Country. The only thing a lot of the people who act like Dinosaurs know is the word "Aggressive Change". I think we should set up a Cooperative that will assist people by getting necessary Court Orders to force the Registrars and the Stockbrokers to do their jobs and make the Capital Market transactions easier for people.

I have been chasing a plethora of outstanding dividends for some time and a particular Registrar told me they would only accept a signed Share Transfer Form instead of a Banker's s Confirmation of Signature Letter ("BoCL"wink. I requested to see their Head of Operations and asked for an explanation on why a BoCL was not acceptable. I had to explain to her that a BoCLwas moresecure.and noteworthy than the signed STF they were requesting because it requires physical presence, pictures, signatures which are verified at the bank as well as a Bank account with details similar to what the Registrars have in their records.

The Registrars agreed to accept the BoCL after my dogged explanation but they called several weeks later to tell me the signature was irregular. The signature wey I sign on the BoCL is the one I dey use withdraw money from the account o! I went to the Bank to resolve it and the Bank showed me that they confirmed the document to them.

We still dey on the matter o! It was when I threatened them to take them to an Arbitration panel or Court that they started behaving like they were concerned about resolving it. I know say na format.

No.
Presco was among the listed company in my qouted post.
Once you see the qualification date for any stock, the markdown can only come the next trading day after then.
In the case of PRESCO, the qualification date is Friday 8th July, 2022........Markdown will be Monday 11th July if there's no Salah holiday, if there is, then it will be next trading day.

* Simply fill E-Dividend Form for the particular Registrar.....
* Scan and send to the registrar......
* Request for a "Share Transfer Form" from your broker....
* Fill for each stock you have with the Registrar and scan clear copy back to your broker (ask for which section/column to fill) and ensure to do follow up with the broker......
** Once broker confirms uploading, then keep following up with the Registrar, don't wait and expect automatic anything.
*** After everything is sorted, ensure you don't sell all units you have at any particular time***

BTW, there's now a CSCS window whereby clients info can be gotten by these registrars, once you already submit E-Dividend for one.
The Registrars are coming up gradually, and with time they'll get there.
* There are instances where you don't fill E-Div for some Registrars and you'll still get your Dividend.......Cardinal Stone for instance. So let's blv they'll get there some day. smiley

** Also find out if the Registrar has Online Dividend registration portal. Fill and submit the form on their website. AFRIPRUD, and Cardinal Stone Registrar have.
