Hello guys Introducing LEXIE, my new female Caucasian. Just got it 2 days ago. Lexie is 2 years old gallant, though I'm still observing her. The first day I brought her, she didn't allow me touch her, I was kinda scared because she was waybilled with a wooden cage, so I brought Hercules my fearless male Caucasian to defend me in case the female went rogue, the female wanted to fight me and my fearless male was busy trying to mate instead of defending me, This life no balance ooh, don't put hope on man or dog hahaha. Everybody left me to carry my cross, it was my first time buying a female but I was determined, I said to my sef, I cannot use my money to buy what I'll be afraid of. So I summoned courage and bring her out of the wooden cage and put her in a more comfortable cage.
The issue I'm having now is that she drinks only water and has refused to eat anything since 2 days now except chicken and water.
I've called my vet to come and examine her.

Feel free to critize, observation is allowed and let me know your own opinion why she's not eating, though she doesn't look sick.

It’s quite common for dogs to refuse food or eat the way they did normally for the first whenever they change location. She’s still insecure, until she’s comfortable, she might still be holding back. Take her on a walk around your compound, or let her loose, so she can walk around and get used to the environment, highest thing she go bite you, na man you be.

Hahaha Biting me is not even the issue, there are tenants in the compound so I can't let her loose. Concerning the walk.... Yes I've taken her for a walk. I agree with you, change of environment can cause it.

If there are tenants regardless, she shouldn’t be aggressive to strangers yet, since it’s still a neutral environment to her. If she was well conditioned, she’s meant to be cool for now. I hope she’s eating now though?

Yeah she's not aggressive to strangers yet but cannot risk her walking freely without chain.

Hercules is goons be 2 years this May, my little boy is now a man, a lot of crossing has been going on because people love his Agility, Vigilance and Intelligence. I don tire for stud puppies I need a family and God is about to bless me soon.

I came home on Monday and I noticed swollen vagina with little blood, I was surprised how it got to that stage without me noticing Lexie is on heat. Yeah you heard me right, Lexie is on heat. I was very happy because buying an adult Caucasian is one of the most risky thing have done, from introducing my sef to Lexie to bonding. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. So if you are thinking of buying an adult dog, go for it cos I'll definitely buy another adult dog.

So I tried organising the mating myself, omo e no easy ooh, day 1 passed, I called other breeder to assist me and it wasn't successful and day 2 and 3 passed and I was like if this heat pass I will not forgive myself ooh immediately I called an experience vet to help me carry on the mating and the vet delayed by wasting another day and finally the mating was successful on saturday and there's this joy that over whelmed me, like a man waiting for his grandchildren hehehe.

So now is to wait and observe... My prayer is exactly what you're thinking, make God let her get belle abi and make the puppy plenty abi? Hehehe.

I want to thank you all for following this thread and your advice and contribution has been encouraging. Less I forgot Lexie wasn't eating well and the solution I found was an homemade recipe food I got and omo babe blazed it all and I switched to it completely since Hercules love it too. It's economical and cheap and the dogs love it. It's actually a food formula mostly used in Jos and since Lexie is from Jos, I had to make the research, it's amazing and tho it's stressful cos it consist of you cooking everyday and it spoil on time if nor preserved very well.

Below is the mating picture and stay tuned for more update on pregnant journey and delivery. I've not done it before so I'm a little anxious when I think of it, but in know it will pass..

2 months isn’t enough time for the dog to start growling at strangers. And it’s gonna be a lot harder if you’re staying in a public compound, it’d then be harder for her to know who is a stranger and who’s not. Plus she’s still growing... oga give the dog time or if you’re tired and can’t deal anymore, put her up for adoption. Which one be say you go soon poison am? All these people that want to own dogs just because they want to own a dog or cuz people told them it’s a lucrative business to breed dogs and not for the love.

Boss no poison am ooh, send am give me make I adopt am and we strike deal... Anyways you have to retrain her and as for barking, isolate the dog for like 2 months and her instinct will activate. Some dogs takes time to activate. Your dog is 9 months now and will soon come on her first heat.
Pls don't poison the dog ooh. Upload the dog let's see.

They are fine bro, had their seconds mating a day b4 yesterday, planing on mating them one more time today. Yeah yeah me too I'm waiting for the goodnews, I can't wait to see their offsprings.

Interesting read. I got a ln 8-week Caus about 3 weeks ago after my destructive GSD died. I am hoping I can train this one properly.

What do you recommend for training. My dog is mainly for security as I've had multiple break-ins. Plus I have a boerboel of about a year that just eats and hardly barks.

If a stranger enters the house, it barks but doesn't charges. The dog is naturally lazy.

As for feeding, I have been giving Royal Canine. It takes just a little and I try to feed morning and night.

I don't keep the food out because my boerboel will eat it.

The feeding is ok, but at least increase it to 3 times daily. Most Caucasian are stubborn to train, do start training very early and socialise it too.

After all set and done about my former Caucasian(female) Viola which didn't turn out well, I ordered for another one all in the name of quality, I ordered from Jos and after payment, lockdown started and for 3 months I couldn't see what I ordered for and I gave up cos I assumed they have scammed me, what kept me going is that, anytime I call the guy he must pick and give status report, so I kept calm and waited. Along the line he said those my puppy's had been sold because of the effects on the lockdown and to avoiding feeding the dog because no one knows when the lockdown will end.
To cut the long story short, I've not heard from him in a while and I called him as usual for status report and he said he has only Male Caucasian that's why he hasn't called, so he said I should wait a little that after selling all the male, he will let me know when female is available and I agreed. On a second thought, I said to myself instead of waiting for only God knows when, why don't I accept the male. I called the guy and he said this male set is more expensive than what I paid for and after much persuasion he agreed. We did video call and he showed me 5 male and asked me to select my Choice, they were all 6 weeks old. He has spent one week now with me.

Petlover, Nairalander, Doglover, Dogbreeder and the rest. Meet my beautiful Caucasian puppy, his name is HERCULES

Try homemade food like rice and meat and if he eats well, feed him more of that then slowly introduce that which you want him to eat till you completely change the food. I hope this helps or you can contact me on whatsapp.

If the booster you dey feed am na dry food, puppies usually don’t like dry food, cuz it’s hard for them to chew. Soak in warm water, add minced meat to make food more alluring, his usual egg, a little bit of cooked white rice, serve.

Hopefully, your Caucasian would turn out security conscious if he’s purebred... most purebred caucs always have natural aggression and protection instincts in them. If he’s not mixed o. If he eventually becomes aggressive, try dey socialize am o, na mad breed be that when they aren’t socialized o.
